Yuzhong District Yuzhong District, located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the metropolitan area of Chongqing, is one of the nine districts in the main city of Chongqing. It is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and Jialing River. Because of the encirclement of the two rivers, it looks like a peninsula, also known as Yuzhong Peninsula. Historical evolution

In the Qin Dynasty, Bajun was located in Jiangzhou County, Bajun county.

From the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the region successively belonged to Jiangzhou County, Dianjiang County and Baxian County, where the county, prefecture, road, government, province and county were located.

During the period of the Republic of China, Chongqing was set up in 1929 and its territory belongs to Chongqing; in 1935, Chongqing was divided into five districts, with the first to fourth districts in Yuzhong District; in 1939, Chongqing was divided into 12 districts, with the first to eighth districts in Yuzhong District; in 1942, Chongqing was divided into 17 (land) districts and one water district, with the first to eighth districts and part of the water district in Yuzhong District.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the first district was renamed Shizhong District in November 1955. The axis and wing are composed of sandstone and mudstone of shangshaximiao formation. The dip angle of folds is 2-8 ° and the occurrence of rocks is gentle with dip angle of 3-6 °.

Yuzhong District is a parallel ridge valley area in East Sichuan, which is dominated by denudation structure. The geomorphic type is obviously controlled by lithology and geological structure. The anticline is generally uplifted into mountains, and the syncline is eroded for a long time to form hills. The Yangtze River and Jialing River flow through the gentle open fold area composed of sandstone and mudstone of shangshaximiao formation with different thickness for a long time, continuously scouring and eroding the riverbed. During the period of relative crustal rise, the river cuts down and the bank slope rises. During the period of relative stability of the earth's crust, the river's side erosion makes the bank slope of the scoured (eroded) bank steeper, often forms a high and steep bank slope on the scoured bank, and accumulates a large amount of alluvial material on the accumulation bank. At the same time, under the weathering and gravity geological action and the continuous development of human engineering activities, the soft mudstone slope with gentle occurrence and thick and large sandstone caprock appears high and steep soft foundation bank slope, which alternates with each other, constantly changing the shape of the valley, and the bank slope becomes high and steep, forming the unique Valley denudation platform slope landform in central Chongqing.

In Yuzhong District, the highest point of eling is 394 meters above sea level, and the lowest point of shazuijiao is 167 meters at the confluence of the two rivers in Chaotianmen, with a relative height difference of 227 meters.
