Binhai County Binhai County is one of the counties under the jurisdiction of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. Located between 33 ° 43 '~ 34 ° 23' n and 119 ° 37 '~ 120 ° 20' e, it is located in the northeast edge of Jiangsu Province, adjacent to the abandoned Yellow River in the north and national highway 204 in the West. Binhai County is named after the Yellow Sea in the East. In 2017, the total land area of the territory was 1949.6 square kilometers, the land area was 1631.16 square kilometers, the water area was 217.16 square kilometers, and the beach area was 100.38 square kilometers. The cultivated land area of the county is 100093.33 hectares, with a total population of 1.23 million.
Binhai County belongs to the wet monsoon climate zone of transition from warm temperate zone to subtropical zone, with cold winter and hot summer, four distinct seasons, sufficient light, mild climate, long frost free period, abundant precipitation and hot rain in the same season. It is also a famous town of calligraphy and painting in China. In March 2019, it was listed as the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization area sub County list. On September 20, the list of winners of the 2019 national poverty alleviation award was announced, and Binhai County won the organization innovation award. On January 22, 2020, it was named National Garden County by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the National Health township (county) naming list of 2017-2019 cycle.
Historical evolution
At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, people lived in the west of Binhai County, engaged in fishing, woodcutting and hunting. At that time, it was attached to huaipu County, linhuai County, Xuzhou.
In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it was Shanyang County of Chuzhou, which was called the new land by the sea.
In 1214, a famous salt farm named Tianci salt farm was built. The area of Tianci salt farm is about 15 kilometers across the South and North Bank of the Yellow River. At that time, it was the largest salt farm in Huaihe River and Haizhou.
In 1699, Weidang camp was built by the emperor. Most of the county was under the jurisdiction of Weidang Youying. In 1731, Funing County was built in the northeast of Funing County.
In October 1940, Huang Kecheng led the Ministry to liberate Yanfu and set up the Northeast administrative office. In September of the next year, the central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee decided to build Fudong County under the jurisdiction of the Northeast administrative office, which was subordinate to the administrative office of Yanfu.
In November 1949, Fudong (now Binhai County) and Binhai (now Xiangshui county) were merged, named after Binhai County and attached to the office of Yancheng commissioner. In March 1966, Binhai County was divided into Binhai County and Xiangshui county. The area south of the abandoned Yellow River and Zhongshan river is still called Binhai County, belonging to Yancheng special area. In 1983, Yancheng was governed by the city and Binhai County was subordinate to Yancheng.
