Jiangjin District Jiangjin District, subordinate to Chongqing City, is located in the southwest of Chongqing city. It is named for its location in the important part of the Yangtze River. It was built in the fifth year of Yongming in the Southern Qi Dynasty (487 AD). It is a shipping hub and material distribution center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
Jiangjin district is adjacent to Banan District and Qijiang District in the East, Xishui County in Guizhou Province in the south, Yongchuan District and Hejiang County in Sichuan Province in the west, Bishan District, Jiulongpo District and Dadukou District in the north, covering an area of 3200.44 square kilometers. It has five streets, 25 towns and a permanent resident population of 1.387 million (2018).

Jiangjin district is "China's ecological selenium city", which has won the honorary titles of "national model city of double support" and "National Model District of land and resources conservation and intensive". In December 2019, it will become a pilot unit for the construction of national rural governance system. On December 6, 2019, it was selected as the pilot unit of promoting the quality improvement of farmers' cooperatives in the whole county. On October 20, 2020, it will be included in the list of national double support model cities (counties).
Historical evolution
Jiangjin, Xia and Shang belong to Liangzhou, Zhou to Ba, Qin to ba. Before the northern and Southern Dynasties, it was a dependency of Jiangzhou county.
During the northern and Southern Dynasties, Jiangzhou county was established in the fifth year of Yongming (487 AD) by Emperor Wu of the Southern Qi Dynasty. In the Western Wei Dynasty (553-557), it was changed into Jiangyang county and Qimen County, and the county government was located in jinshunjiang; in the first year of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (557), the county government was moved to Jijiang.
In the Sui Dynasty, in the third year of kaihuang (583), Qimen County was abolished. Kaihuang 18 years (AD 598), because the county is located in the Yangtze River, Jiangyang county was changed to Jiangjin County, belonging to Yuzhou.
In the Tang Dynasty, in 620, Wanchun county was set up in the west of Jiangjin County. Wude five years (622), renamed Wanshou county.
In the Song Dynasty, in the fifth year of Qiande (967), Wanshou county was abolished and merged into Jiangjin County.
Yuan Dynasty, to Yuan 16 years (1279), belongs to Sichuan Province Chongqing Road governor's office under the jurisdiction of the recorder division.
In the Ming Dynasty, in the ninth year of Hongwu (1376), Chongqing government was set up as the Minister of Sichuan, Jiangjin County still belonged to Chongqing.
In the Qing Dynasty, Jiangjin County was under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province. In 1668, the governor of Chuanhu was set up. In 1680, the governor of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu was set up. In the east of Sichuan Province, Chongqing government was divided into two parts.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the Chongqing Shu military government merged with the Sichuan military government and established the Chongqing Fu Fu. Later, it was changed into the East Sichuan observation envoy, with jurisdiction over 54 States, departments and counties in Southeast Sichuan. Later, it was changed into the East Sichuan observation envoy, with jurisdiction over 36 counties, including Jiangjin.
In 1935, it was the third administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province.

It is located in the southwest of Chongqing, adjacent to Jiulongpo District and Banan District of Chongqing in the East, Xishui County of Guizhou Province in the south, Hejiang County of Sichuan Province in the west, Yongchuan District and Bishan District of Chongqing in the north.
