Peixian County, Peixian County for short, is named after peize in ancient times. It is located in the northwest of Xuzhou City, at the junction of Jiangsu and Shandong provinces. It is adjacent to Weishan Lake in the East, Fengxian County in the west, Tongshan District in the south, Yutai in Shandong Province in the North, and the southeast edge of North China Plain and the northwest part of Huaihai economic zone. It has a total area of 1806 square kilometers and a total population of 1.3 million (2016). In 2019, Peixian's GDP will reach 77.796 billion yuan, an increase of 6.0%.
Peixian is a lakeside city and a green capital. Peicheng is less than 5 kilometers away from Weishan Lake, the largest freshwater lake in North China, with 62 kilometers of shoreline and 400 square kilometers of lake surface.
Peixian has a long history and rich resources. It is the main coal producing area in Jiangsu Province and East China, with proven coal reserves of 2.4 billion tons and an annual output of 12 million tons of raw coal, accounting for 70% of the province. Peixian is one of the first batch of civilized counties and advanced counties in science and technology. It has won the titles of national top 100 counties, national industrial top 100 counties, National Garden County, national intellectual property pilot county, and China's best eco-tourism county.
In 2019, Peixian county ranks 32nd in the country's county economy and comprehensive development, 65th in the top 100 counties and cities in comprehensive strength, 57th in the top 100 counties and cities in science and technology innovation, and 44th in the top 100 in economic competitiveness. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the National Health township (county) naming list of 2017-2019 cycle. In August 2020, it was awarded the title of "four good rural roads" provincial Demonstration County in 2019. In December 2020, it will be selected as one of the top 100 comprehensive competitiveness of county economy in China.
Historical evolution
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Peidi belonged to the state of song.
In 286 BC, the state of Qi destroyed the state of song, and Pei temporarily belonged to Qi. In 284 B.C., the five states conquered Qi, and Chu occupied the former place of Huaibei in Song Dynasty. Pei was changed to Chu.
After Qin destroyed the six states, Peixian county was set up, which belongs to Sishui county.
After the establishment of the Western Han Dynasty, Peixian belonged to the state of Chu. In the 11th year of emperor Gaodi of the Han Dynasty, Liu Zhen was appointed as the Marquis of Peixian, which was directly under the central government. In the 12th year of emperor Gao, Liu bi was established as king of Wu, and Pei was under the jurisdiction of Chu. In the first year of empress Lu, he was granted the title of marquis Pei, which was directly under the central government. In the seventh year of empress Lu, Liu Zhong was changed into Marquis Buqi. In the eighth year of empress Lu, he died, and Pei belonged to the state of Chu.
In 154 BC, in the third year of emperor Jing, a new County named Pei county was established by Emperor Jing from the county under the jurisdiction of the state of Chu. The name of Pei county was taken from Pei County, the hometown of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty, and Fengyi was promoted to be a county.
During the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Cao, the founder of Cao Wei, was a member of Qiao County in the western part of Pei state. He assigned most of the former Pei state, including the county governing Xiang County, to the newly built Qiao County. The scope of Pei state was greatly narrowed, and Pei County was replaced by the abolition of the state. The governing center was also transferred from Xiang county (now Huaibei Xiangshan District of Anhui Province) to Pei county (now Peixian County of Jiangsu Province).
Pei county was abolished in the first year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550), and Pei county was subordinate to Pengcheng county.
In Sui and Tang Dynasties, it belonged to Xuzhou.
After the song and Jin Dynasties were united, Peixian County entered the Jin Dynasty. In 1233, Peidi was upgraded to Yuanzhou.
Peixian County in Yuan Dynasty successively belonged to Jining Prefecture and Jining Prefecture.
Before the eleventh year of Yongzheng in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was subordinate to Xuzhou, and after the eleventh year of Yongzheng, it belonged to Xuzhou Prefecture.
In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to Xu Haidao.
After the fall of Xuzhou in 1938, it belonged to the Xuzhou maintenance Council for a short time.
In 1939, after the establishment of the pseudo Northern Jiangsu administrative Commissioner's office, it belonged to the northern Jiangsu administrative Commissioner's office, and later to the renamed Suhuai administrative Commissioner's office.
In 1944, the puppet Huaihai province was established, belonging to the puppet Huaihai province.
After Japan surrendered in 1945, it still belonged to Jiangsu provincial government.
In November 1948, Peixian county was liberated and the Peixian democratic government was formally established, which was subordinate to the Huxi Office of Hebei Henan Administrative office.
In January 1953, it was under the jurisdiction of Xuzhou regional Commissioner's Office (belonging to Shandong Province), and soon returned to Jiangsu Province.
In January 1983, the system of city governing county was implemented, and Peixian county was subordinate to Xuzhou City.

Peixian county is located in the northwest of Jiangsu Province and the northwest of Xuzhou. It is at the junction of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui provinces, adjacent to Weishan County of Shandong Province, Yutai County of Shandong Province in the northwest, Fengxian County in the West and Tongshan District of Xuzhou City in the south. It covers an area of 1576 square kilometers. It is located in 34 degrees 28 minutes to 34 degrees 59 minutes north latitude and 116 degrees 41 minutes to 117 degrees 09 minutes east longitude. It is about 60 kilometers long from north to South and 30 kilometers wide from east to west, covering a total area of 1576 square kilometers.

There are 8 pairs of Mines under the Ministry, province and city. The annual output of raw coal is 12 million tons, accounting for 40% of the total coal output of the whole province.
