Huishan District Huishan District is under the jurisdiction of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. Located in the hinterland of Yangtze River Delta, it is adjacent to Taihu Lake in the south, Yangtze River in the north, Suzhou in the East, Nanjing and Changzhou in the West.
Huishan District covers an area of 327.81 square kilometers and has a population of 431900 (at the end of 2012). It has one provincial Economic Development Zone, five streets and two towns.
Huishan District, formerly known as "the first county in China" - Wuxi County, Jiangsu Province, is the famous birthplace of Wu Culture in ancient China and one of the birthplaces of modern Chinese national industry and contemporary township enterprises. The first Yiyuan Town, the first Yiyuan village and the first Sino foreign joint venture in Jiangsu Province were all born in Huishan.
Huishan District was selected as one of the national top 100 comprehensive strength districts and China's top 100 industrial districts in 2017; China's top 100 Urban Districts, China's top 100 investment potential districts, China's top 100 science and technology innovation districts and China's top 100 green development districts in 2018. More than 3000 years ago, 12th century BC, the end of Shang Dynasty. Taibo, the eldest son of King Zhou, and Zhongyong, the second son of King Zhou, went south to jingman in order to yield to the throne. In December 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Xishan City was abolished and Xishan District and Huishan District of Wuxi City were established. Huishan District governs 12 towns in Luoshe, Yuqi, Qianzhou, Xizhang, Yanqiao, Chang'an, shitangwan, Qianqiao, Outang, Yangshi, Yangshan and Lu districts of Xishan City. The District People's government is located in Yanqiao town. It was officially established in February 2001.
In 2001, Huishan District governed 12 towns and 132 administrative villages: Chang'an Town, Xizhang Town, Yanqiao Town, Qianzhou Town, Yuqi Town, Luoshe Town, shitangwan Town, Qianqiao Town, Outang Town, Yangshi Town, Yangshan town and Luqu town.
In September 2002, Chang'an Town, Xizhang town and Yanqiao town merged to establish Yanqiao town. Huishan District governs 10 towns: Yanqiao Town, Qianzhou Town, Yuqi Town, Luoshe Town, shitangwan Town, Qianqiao Town, Outang Town, Yangshi Town, Yangshan town and Luqu town.
On April 27, 2003, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved the relocation of Huishan District People's government from Luoshe town to Yanqiao town.
In 2004, Luoshe Town, shitangwan town and Yangshi town were merged to set up Luoshe town; Qianqiao town and otang town were merged to set up Qianqiao town; Yangshan town and Luqu town were merged to set up Yangshan town; so far, Huishan District has jurisdiction over six towns: Yanqiao Town, Qianqiao Town, Yuqi town, Luoshe Town, Qianzhou town and Yangshan town.
In 2005, Huishan District has jurisdiction over 6 towns, including Yanqiao, Qianzhou, Yuqi, Luoshe, Qianqiao and Yangshan, 12 community neighborhood committees, 7 neighborhood committees and 119 village committees.
On October 20, 2006, Yanqiao town was abolished and Yanqiao street and Chang'an Street were established.
On November 13, 2007, Qianqiao town of Huishan District was abolished and Qianqiao sub district office was set up in its original jurisdiction. The office manages 4 community neighborhood committees and 16 village committees. The office is located in Yucai Road, Qianqiao (formerly Qianqiao town government). After Qianqiao removed the town and set up streets, it implemented the management system of "Street Garden integration" with Wuxi (lotus pond) Vocational Education Park, managing the neighborhood committees of Qiaobei, Qiaonan, Xincun and lotus pond communities, Huaxin village, Shengfeng village, Xizhang village, sumiao village, Xiaoxing village, Xinan village, Yangxi village, Shunke village, lotus pond village, Dongfeng Village, Hengyuanxiang village, Qinjian village, Shaotang village, Shengfeng village, miaotangqiao village There are 16 village committees in nanshanqu village.
On July 3, 2009, Qianzhou town and Yuqi town were abolished and Qianzhou street and Yuqi street were established. Qianzhou sub district office is located at No. 11 Xiyu Road, managing one neighborhood committee and 17 village committees; Yuqi sub district office is located at No. 102 Xiyu Road, managing one neighborhood committee and 17 village committees.
On March 22, 2011, Huoju village and Taoyuan Village in Luoshe town were put under the jurisdiction of Yangshan Town, and railway bridge village and zhanggaozhuang village in Luoshe town were put under the management of Qianzhou street. After the adjustment, Luoshe Town governs 6 neighborhood committees and 19 administrative villages; Yangshan town governs 2 neighborhood committees and 12 administrative villages; Qianzhou Street governs 6 neighborhood committees and 11 administrative villages.
