Jianye District Jianye District is located in the central part of Nanjing city. It is one of the eight districts in the main city of Nanjing. It is the financial service center in the eastern part of China, and the business and Trade Center, exhibition center, sports and sports center and innovation and Creativity Center in East China. Historical evolution
The name of Jianye originated from the ancient place name of Nanjing.
In 212, the 17th year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Sun Quan changed moling county (now Nanjing) into Jianye county.
In the first year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (280), Sima Yan, Emperor Wu, rebuilt moling as moling, and divided its southwest into Linjiang county.
In the second year of Taikang (281), Linjiang county was changed into Jiangning County, and moling county was set as Jianye county to the north of Qinhuai River.
In the third year of Taikang (282), Jianye was changed into Jianye. Yezhe, Yecheng, an ancient place name in Henan Province, is the birthplace of Sima's family. It is named Jianye, implying the meaning of never forgetting his native place.
In Sui, Tang, song and Yuan Dynasties, the area was successively subordinate to Jiangning County, Guihua County, Jinling county and Baixia county.
The Ming and Qing Dynasties belonged to Shangyuan and Jiangning counties respectively. During the period of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the territory once became an important military and political command center.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), taking Qinhuai River as the boundary, Hedong and Hexi belong to Jiangning city and Jiangdong Township respectively.
In 1933, Nanjing began to set up the district level, and the district was the Fifth District.
In 1934, the west of Qinhuai River was divided into shangxinhe district.
In April 1949, Nanjing was liberated.
In June 1950, Nanjing was rezoned. The former Fifth District was renamed the Fourth District, and the former shangxinhe district was renamed the eleventh district.
In August 1955, it was named Jianye District.
In March 1967, it was changed into Hongwei District.
In December 1973, the name of Jianye District was restored.
In 1978, the street Revolutionary Committee was abolished and the street office was restored.
In 1984, the second, third and Yuejin production teams of Fenghuang in Jiangdong commune and the Fenghuang West Street and chating neighborhood committee in shangxinhe town were assigned to Jianye District. By April 1995, Jianye District had six streets: Chaotiangong, zhimaying, Anpin street, Mochou Lake, Nanhu and Xinglong.
In 1995, Nanjing adjusted the administrative division of its urban area, putting the five administrative villages of Henan, Suojie, Xinglong, Xiangyang and Donglin under the jurisdiction of Jiangdong Town, Yuhuatai District, and the three neighborhood committees of rendongqiao, mianhuadi and luoziqiao, as well as the former chating administrative village under the jurisdiction of Jianye District.
In October 2002, a new round of zoning adjustment was carried out in Nanjing, with Chaotiangong street, zhimaying street and Mochouhu street in some areas, Jiangxinzhou Town, Shazhou street and Shuangzha street in some areas, forming Nanhu street, Binhu street, Xinglong Street, Nanyuan street, Shazhou street, Shuangzha street and Jiangxinzhou street.
In June 2012, Nanhu and Binhu streets were merged into Mochou Lake streets, forming six streets: Mochou Lake, Xinglong, Nanyuan, Shazhou, Shuangzha and Jiangxinzhou.

Geology and geomorphology
The geology of Jianye District was formed in the Proterozoic Sinian period 800 million years ago. Through the stage of great crustal turbulence, the sedimentary rocks of limestone, dolomite, shale, sandstone and conglomerate in different periods were formed. The terrain is low in the South and high in the north, with a ground elevation of 5.5-7.5 meters. There are many reservoirs, belonging to the Yangtze River floodplain geomorphic unit. The landform belongs to the Qinhuai River valley plain and the Yangtze River Delta, with an altitude of 4-10 meters. The Yangtze River Delta is low and flat, with an altitude of 4-7 meters. It is composed of two parts: the delta along the Yangtze River and the Delta in the middle of the river. Both of them are below the flood level of the Yangtze River and are blocked by dikes.
