In 2004, 10 community neighborhood committees, including Liaodian Hedong, Liaodian Hexi, thermal power, Tianhu, Fudong 1, Fudong 2, granary, Xianqiao, cement plant, Reservoir Street, and two villages (Zhanghan and Zhangxian) originally under the jurisdiction of Zhangdang town in Fushun County were assigned to Dongzhou District of Fushun City, and Zhangdang sub district office was established. After the adjustment, Dongzhou District has jurisdiction over 11 streets and 2 townships: Xintun street, Wanxin street, Longfeng street, Pingshan street, Dongzhou street, Laohutai street, Liushan street, Nanyuan street, Zhangdian street, Zhangdang street, Dalian street, Qianjin Township and Nianpan Township, covering an area of 226.8 square kilometers.
In early 2006, Fushun high tech Development Zone was established. Dongzhou District, Fushun Shengli Economic Development Zone (established in June 1988) and Fushun high tech Development Zone jointly work.
