Shahekou District Shahekou District, located in the west of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, has a total area of 48.32 square kilometers, a mountain forest area of 6.4 square kilometers and a coastline of 8 kilometers. There are seven mountains in the area, including Dading mountain, Baiyun Mountain and Xijian mountain. Malan River flows southward into the Yellow Sea through the west of the urban area, with a total length of 15 km. It is a seasonal river.
As of 2017, the total registered residence of 638919 people, including 311098 men and 327821 women, had a population density of 18407 persons / square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 7 sub district offices and 90 community residents committees. The office address of the district government is located at 393 Zhongshan Road. There are Northeast University of Finance and economics, Dalian Ocean University, Liaoning Normal University, Dalian Jiaotong University and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

History of construction
The name of Shahekou District began in modern times. According to the records of jinzhouweishanchuan geography, it was the mouth of Shahe River (now called Malan River) in Ming Dynasty, so it was named Shahekou.
On February 3, 1946, the people's Government of Shahekou District was established.
In August 1949, the government of Shahekou District was changed into the government office of Shahekou District.
In December 1950, the Luda municipal government put the Xishan District under the jurisdiction of Shahekou District, and changed the name of Shahekou District Office to Shahekou District People's government.
In August 1960, Shahekou commune was established.
In July 2005, Dalian adjusted part of the administrative boundaries between Shahekou District and Ganjingzi District: 1. The original boundary of Jinxiu district was adjusted along Nansong road westward to the east wall of Dalian red brick factory on the west side of Jinhua North Garden, and turned southward to Nanshan. The elevation of 2420m coincided with the original boundary. The whole Jinxiu District built-up area south of Nansong road was divided into Shahekou District, and Jinhua primary school was managed by Ganjingzi District. 2、 The boundary of Malan section remains unchanged. Shahekou District will transfer the area beyond the jurisdiction of Malan district to Ganjingzi District.

In September 1954, another 19 neighborhood committees were divided into 17 sub district offices, namely: Minquan, Zhongshan Park, Wuyi Square, Changxing, Lianhe, minyun, Yuhua, Changping, Ruyi, Xinggong, Quanyong, malanzi, Houjiagou, Chunliu, nanshahekou, Xiangyi and xianger.
On September 14, 1956, Heishijiao street in Xiaoping Island district was put under the jurisdiction of Shahekou District. So far, Shahekou District has jurisdiction over 18 streets.
On July 31, 1959, Lingshui Township and tangligou township of daxinzhaizi district were under the jurisdiction of Shahekou District.
In April 1960, eight urban communes including Houjiagou, Minquan, Xinggong, Zhongshan Park, minyun, Chunliu, Xianglujiao and Yuhua were established in 18 streets of the urban area, and two rural communes including Hongqi and Lingshui were established in the suburbs. At the same time, Heishijiao and malanzi streets were assigned to nearby rural communes. The original eight urban communes were merged into four urban communes, namely Chunliu, Zhongshan Park, Xinggong and the democratic movement, while two rural communes remained unchanged.
In 1963, four urban communes were abolished and changed into 12 streets, including minyun, Baishan Road, Minquan, Changxing, Xinggong, Xianglujiao, Houjiagou, Chunliu, Heishijiao, malanzi, nanshahekou and Zhongshan Park.
In September 1969, the streets were changed into revolutionary committees of communes. In September 1966, Hongqi and Lingshui communes were put under the jurisdiction of Ganjingzi District.
At the end of 1976, Shahekou District had jurisdiction over 10 urban communes, namely, Yongjun commune, Minquan commune, Zhongshan Park commune, Xinggong commune, Changxing commune, Hongwei commune, Heishijiao commune, nanshahekou commune, Shengli commune and Chunliu commune.
In 1978, the city commune was abolished and the sub district office was restored.
On April 6, 1983, the area to the west of Shahekou railway station originally under the jurisdiction of Xigang District, to the east of the first staff dormitory of Dalian Locomotive Works, to the south of Shenyang Dalian railway line and to the north of Zhongchang street was under the jurisdiction of Shahekou District.
On December 21, 1985, five streets including Fuguo, Xishan, Quanyong, Chejia and Lianhuashan were added (completed in January 1987). So far, there are 15 streets in Shahekou District.
In 1990, two streets were added in Shahekou District. By the end of 1990, Shahekou District had 17 streets, including Zhongshan Park, Minquan, Changxing, Xinggong, nanshahekou, Houjiagou, malanzi, Heishijiao, Baishan Road, Chunliu, Lijia, Xishan village, Quanyong, Fuguo, Chejia village, Lianhuashan and Xinghai. There were 335 neighborhood committees and 6615 resident groups with a total population of 490088.
At the end of 1991, it had jurisdiction over 17 streets, including Zhongshan Park, Minquan, Changxing, Xinggong, Nansha, Houjiagou, malanzi, Heishijiao, Baishan Road, Chunliu, Lijia, Xicun, Quanyong, Fuguo, chejiacun, Lianhuashan and Xinghai.
On December 16, 1992, with the consent of Dalian municipal government, chejiacun sub district office was renamed Huabei road sub district office.
In 1997, Shahekou District covered an area of 44.2 square kilometers with a population of 540000. Jurisdiction Baishan Road, Changxing, Chunliu, Fuguo, Heishijiao, Houjiagou, Huabei Road, Lijia, Lianhuashan street, Malan, Minquan, Nansha, Quanyong, Xishan, Xinggong, Xinghai, Zhongshan Park 17 streets. The district government is located in Tongtai street. At the end of 1998, Shahekou District had jurisdiction over 17 streets and 389 neighborhood committees.
At the end of 2003, Chunliu street, Huabei road street and Houjiagou Street merged into Chunliu street; Xinghai street and Fuguo Street merged into Xinghaiwan street; Xinggong street, Quanyong street and Xishan Street merged into Xinggong street; Zhongshan Park Street, Changxing street and Minquan Street merged into Zhongshan Park Street. After the zoning adjustment, Shahekou District has jurisdiction over nine streets: Chunliu street, Xinghaiwan street, Xinggong street, Zhongshan Park Street, Nansha street, Lijia street, Malan street, baishanlu street and Heishijiao street.
In 2019, Zhongshan Park Street and Xinggong Street will be abolished and Xi'an Road Street will be merged; Baishan Road Street will be merged into Xinghaiwan street.

North China Road, Xi'an Road, Zhongshan Road, Wuyi Road, Southwest Road, Huanghe Road and Shugang road crisscross, forming the road traffic skeleton of the whole region. Urban fast rail and bus lines are densely distributed in every street and lane of the city.
