Xixian County, which belongs to Linfen City, Shanxi Province, is located in the northwest edge of Linfen City and the south foot of Luliang Mountain in the west of Shanxi Province. It is a typical gully region of the Loess Plateau. The county government is located in Longquan town. It borders Fenxi in the East, Yonghe in the west, Puxian and Daning in the south, Shilou and Jiaokou in the north. It is 45 km wide from east to west and 52 km long from north to south, with a total area of 1415.3 square kilometers (2008) and a total population of 103000 (2009). In 2009, Xi county's GDP was 602.81 million yuan.
There are more than 30 cultural relics in Xixian county. The most famous building in the west of the city is "Xiaoxitian". Jinli, a local specialty of Xixian County, is famous for its large size, juicy and rich nutrition. Xi county is one of the key poverty alleviation counties in China, and it is also one of the 35 poverty-stricken counties in Shanxi Province. On April 18, 2019, the people's Government of Shanxi Province approved Xi county to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties.

Erya said, "Xiashi is called Xi". It is called "Xi" because it is wet with springs in zhoudai. According to the records of the world of peace, there is Longquan in the south of Yixian County. The ground is wet and it is named Xi.
Historical evolution
In the Han Dynasty, it was located in Puzi county.
In the Northern Wei Dynasty, the county was set up in tujing County in the South and Pingchang County in the north. In the 12th year of Taihe (488), it was established in Fenzhou, abolished in Xiaochang, and restored in the Northern Zhou Dynasty. In the early years of Baoding, Daning County was established in this county. In the first year of Xiangxiang (579), Changshou county was established in Changshou village, 18 kilometers north of the county, and Longquan county was established in the county.
During the reign of emperor kaihuang of Sui Dynasty, the government of Daning County moved to the present Daning County. In 584, Fenzhou was changed to xifenzhou. In five years, Longquan county was abolished and Xifen Prefecture was changed into Xizhou. In the 18th year, Changshou county was changed into Xichuan County, and it was moved to the north of today's County, which belongs to Xizhou. Xizhou was changed into Longquan County in the third year of Daye (607), Xizhou in the first year of Wude (618), Daning County in the first year of Tianbao (742) and Xizhou in the first year of Qianyuan (758).
Nanxizhou was changed in the sixth year of jintianhui (1128) and restored to Xizhou in the third year of Tiande (1151). Xingding five years (1221) in today's County 30 kilometers south of the town home Wucheng County, Xizhou. The Yuan Dynasty abandoned Yicheng County. In 1954, it belonged to Jinnan special area. In 1958, it merged with Daning County to become Xining County, and then with Yonghe, Puxian and Shilou to become Luliang County.

In 1967, it belonged to southern Shanxi.
In 1970, it belonged to Linfen area.
In 2000, it was a prefecture level Linfen City.
In 2001, Beizhuang township was abolished and merged into Chengguan town and renamed Longquan town; shuidi township was abolished and merged into Wucheng town; Houyan township was abolished and merged into diaojiayu Township and renamed yangtousheng township; Feng township was abolished and merged into Xiali township; Zhu township was abolished and merged into Chengnan Township. After the zoning adjustment, the county governs three towns and five townships: Longquan Town, Wucheng Town, Huangtu Town, yangtousheng Township, Zhaizi Township, doupo Township, Xiali Township and Chengnan Township. The county government is located in Longquan town.
