Daning County, belonging to Linfen City, Shanxi Province, is located at the south end of Luliang Mountain in Shanxi Province. It borders Yonghe County in the north, Jixian County in the south, Puxian county and Xixian County in the East and Yanchang County in Shaanxi Province across the Yellow River in the West. The county covers an area of 967 square kilometers with a total population of 68000 (2013).

In the first year of Baoding (561), Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty set up Daning County and took the name of yidaji Daning.
In the 20th year of kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (600), Daning County government moved from Jinji county to Jinxian County, belonging to Nanfen Prefecture. Daye two years (606) waste into Wucheng county.
