Du'an Yao Autonomous County Du'an (D ūā n) Yao Autonomous County, which belongs to Hechi City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located on the slope of the transition from Yunnan Guizhou Plateau to Guangxi basin, in the eastern part of duyang mountain range. The terrain is high in Northwest and low in Southeast. It is one of the most typical areas of karst landform development in China. The county is famous for its unique peaks and caves and karst landscape. The county covers an area of 4088 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 10 towns, 9 townships, 248 villager (community) committees, and the people's Government of the county is located in Anyang Town, 120 kilometers away from Nanning city and Hechi City. In 2016, Duan had a registered residence population of 720 thousand people, of whom 544 thousand and 200 were agricultural population, and Yao accounted for 22% of the county population.
The main tourist attractions include Guangxi Hongshui River Du'an three Island Bay International Resort, Guangxi Du'an international Cave Diving Center, Desu Yaotai resort, Yaoling river drifting, shitouhua, Baxian Park, pifuguan, lvcenxian Valley, Cuiping diezhang, longjingyintao, Hongjin gudu, Baxian cave, Lianhua cave, Xiangquan Yeyue, gusongzhou, etc. The important mineral resources are coal, antimony, manganese, copper, mercury, iron, aluminum, dolomite and wucaishi. Famous local products include calligraphy and painting paper, wild mountain wine, sandpaper, goat, dry lotus root vermicelli, bamboo rattan weaving, multicolored stone crafts, etc. Du'an is the hometown of Du'an goat in China, the hometown of bamboo, rattan, grass and awn weaving crafts in China, and the base of wild mountain grape wine in China.
In March 2019, it will be listed in the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. China's top 100 water purification counties and cities in 2020. On November 20, 2020, the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region approved to withdraw from the poverty-stricken counties.
Evolution of organizational system
As early as the late Paleolithic age, there were "Ganyan people", "jiulengshan people" and other ancient people in Du'an, an ancient and magical land, working, living and reproducing. According to historical records, during the Tang and Yu dynasties, Du'an belonged to the south of Jingzhou. The Shang and Zhou dynasties belonged to Baiyue.
In the Qin Dynasty, the first emperor of Qin unified Lingnan in 214 BC, and set up Guilin, Xiang and Nanhai counties in Lingnan. Today, Du'an belongs to Guilin county.
At the beginning of the Han Dynasty, Zhao Tuo, a lieutenant of Nanhai County, annexed Guilin and Xiangjun, and established Nanyue state. Du'an was under the jurisdiction of Nanyue state.
In the sixth year of Yuanding in the Western Han Dynasty, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, after pacifying the division and rebellion of Nanyue, reunified Lingnan and set up Cangwu, Yulin and Hepu counties in Guangxi. Today, Du'an belongs to Dingzhou County of Yulin County. Dingzhou county is located in today's Yizhou city.
During the Three Kingdoms period, Du'an belonged to Yulin County of Wu state.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, Du'an belonged to Yulin County of Guangzhou; in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it belonged to Guilin County of Guangzhou.
In the song and Qi dynasties, Du'an belonged to Guilin County of Guangzhou, and in the Liang and Chen dynasties, it belonged to Maping County of Longzhou. In Sui Dynasty, Du'an belonged to Yulin County. In Tang Dynasty, Anding and duyang belonged to Yongzhou and Yongshun to Guizhou.
During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Du'an belongs to Yizhou.
In Song Dynasty, duyang region belongs to Youjiang Daotian Prefecture; Yongshun region belongs to kunzhou Prefecture; anding region belongs to Youjiang daosi'en Prefecture and Qingyuan Fu'an Prefecture. Fu'anjian, which was set up in the second year of Chunhua by Emperor Taizong of Song Dynasty, is the earliest administrative unit in Du'an and also the earliest county-level administrative unit.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Anding region belonged to Tianzhou Road, Sien Prefecture, duyang region belonged to Tianzhou Road, Yongshun region belonged to Yishan region.
At the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Yongshun area belonged to Yizhou County, Anding and duyang area belonged to sienzhou.
In the Qing Dynasty, the inspection departments of Anding and duyang and Yongshun were set up in Du'an. In the fifth year of the Republic of China, Du'an was named after the first word of duyang and anding Tusi, and the government of Du'an County was officially established. On December 5, 1949, Du'an County was liberated. Du'an County has six districts, including Eastern District, Western District, Central South District, central North District, southwest district and Northwest District, with jurisdiction over 28 townships, 1 town and 322 villages. In September 1955, the State Council passed the decision on Abolishing the organizational system of Du'an County and establishing Du'an Yao Autonomous County. Du'an County has 14 districts and 167 townships (towns). In November 1957, Anyang town was under the jurisdiction of Chengxiang District.
In September 1958, after the implementation of people's commune in Du'an County, the system of district and township was abolished and the system of commune, brigade and small team was implemented. Du'an County governs 13 communes and 301 brigades.
On November 14, 1958, Yongning special area was renamed Nanning special area, and Du'an still belonged to it. On May 18, 1965, the State Council approved the establishment of Hechi special area, which is located in Jinchengjiang town of Hechi county (now Jinchengjiang town of Jinchengjiang District), and has jurisdiction over 10 counties (Jinchengjiang, Yishan, Huanjiang, Luocheng, Nandan, Tiane, Donglan, Bama, Fengshan, Du'an). Du'an is under Hechi special area. In September 1971, Hechi district was renamed Hechi District, and the counties under its jurisdiction remained unchanged. In 1980, Anyang commune was renamed Anyang town.
In October 1984, the establishment of communes, brigades and small teams was abolished, and townships, villagers' committees and villagers' groups were established. Du'an County governs 30 townships (towns), 369 villager committees and 10460 villager groups.
In July 1991, Gaoling township was changed into Gaoling town.
In 1995, the village office was abolished. Du'an County governs 2 towns, 20 townships, 247 villager committees and 7201 villager groups. June 18, 2002 belongs to Hechi City.
In 1996, Du'an Yao Autonomous County covers an area of 4097 square kilometers and has a population of 617000. It has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 20 townships: Anyang Town, Gaoling Town, Chengjiang Township, Gushan Township, TISU Township, Sannong Township, dongmiao Township, Baoan Township, wuzhu Township, Daxing Township, longfu Township, Xiaao Township, Banling Township, Yong'an Township, sanjiyang Township, Longwan Township, Jingsheng Township, Baiwang Township, lalie Township, Jiagui Township, Jiudu Township and Laren township. The county government is located in Anyang town.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Du'an Yao Autonomous County is 543019. In 2003, Du'an Yao Autonomous County has jurisdiction over two towns and 20 townships: Anyang Town, Gaoling Town, Chengjiang Town, Gushan Town, TISU Town, Sannong Town, dongmiao Town, wuzhu Town, Daxing Town, Xiaao Town, longfu Town, Baoan Town, Banling Town, Yong'an Town, SANZHIYANG Town, Longwan town, Jingsheng Town, lalie Town, Baiwang Town, Jiagui Town, laren town and Jiudu town.
On June 13, 2005, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GZH No. 169) agreed to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns in Du'an Yao Autonomous County: abolish Sannong Township, merge the whole system into TISU Township, and keep the government residence unchanged; abolish Gushan Township, merge the whole system into Chengjiang Township, and keep the government residence unchanged; abolish wuzhu Township, merge the whole system into Gaoling Town, and keep the government residence unchanged The two villages of Yangan and Suli in Chengjiang Township and Yili village in Gaoling town were put under the jurisdiction of Anyang town [when the actual adjustment was made, the village was removed and the community system under the jurisdiction of the town] and Yongping village in Baoan township was put under the jurisdiction of dongmiao township.

In 2013, Disu Township, lalie Township, Xiaao Township and Baiwang Township were withdrawn and built into towns. After the adjustment, the county governs 6 towns and 13 townships: Anyang Town, Gaoling Town, Desu Town, lalie Town, Xiaao Town, Baiwang Town, Chengjiang Town, dongmiao Town, Daxing Town, longfu Town, Baoan Town, Banling Town, Yong'an Town, SANZHIYANG Town, Longwan town, Jingsheng Town, Jiagui Town, laren town and Jiudu town.
In 2005, Sannong township was abolished and merged into Disu township; Gushan township was abolished and merged into Chengjiang township; wuzhu township was abolished and merged into Gaoling town; at the same time, Yang'an, Suli, Longjing Village Committee of Chengjiang Township and Yili village committee of Gaoling Township were merged into Anyang Town, and the four village committees were changed into community neighborhood committee system of town; Yongping village committee of Baoan township was merged into dongmiao township have jurisdiction over.
On March 19, 2013, four townships in Du'an Yao Autonomous County, including Desu, Xiaao, lalie and Baiwang, held the ceremony of withdrawing townships and building towns on the same day, and their administrative regions, institutions and staffing remained unchanged.
On March 24, 2015, Daxing Township and Chengjiang township of Du'an Yao Autonomous County abolished the township level establishment at the same time, converted to urban establishment, and held a listing ceremony.
On May 15, 2015, the original Laren township of Du'an Yao Autonomous County was changed from township level to urban level. So far, the establishment of towns has increased to 9 out of 19 towns in Du'an County.
On June 14, 2017, the people's Government of the autonomous region agreed to change Yongan Township into a town.
On November 20, 2020, the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region approved to withdraw from the poverty-stricken counties.
