Jiashi county is named after Jiashi river. The different translations of the same word "Jiashi" like "Kashi" are the meaning of "Yu" in Turkic language. The Han Dynasty was the land of Shule. In Tang Dynasty, there was a name of "Jiashi city". The Qing Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Kashgar affairs minister.
In 1902, Jiashi county was established under the name of "Jiashi" in the Tang Dynasty, which was subordinate to Shule Prefecture.
In 1906, Jiashi County moved from kaidanmujiayi in the south to Baren, which was the political, economic and cultural center of Jiashi county.
In 1929, it belonged to Kashgar administrative region and Kashgar supervision region.
