Tonghua County Tonghua County belongs to Tonghua City, Jilin Province. It is located in the south of Jilin Province, at the south foot of Changbai Mountain and the middle reaches of Hunjiang River. It borders Baishan City in the East, Xinbin county and Huanren County in Liaoning Province in the west, Ji'an City in the South and Liuhe County in the north. It has 10 towns and 5 townships, 24 communities and 146 administrative villages. It covers an area of 3726.5 square kilometers (2009) and has a total population of 247225 (2010). In 2013, Tonghua County's GDP reached 12.6 billion yuan. It is a cultural county with a long history. In 2020, it will be included in the list of the second batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.
In August 2019, it was selected as the pilot county of compact County medical community construction. In October 2019, it was rated as one of the top 100 green development counties in China in 2019. In November 2020, it will be selected as the sixth national civilized city.

Zhou Qin period belongs to Yan Liaodong county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to the upper Yintai County of xuantu county. At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, a branch of the northern Fuyu nationality went down to zubenchuan and built a city on the mountain, which was called heshenggu city (now wunushan, Huanren County, Liaoning Province). The founding of the people's Republic of China was called zubenfuyu. In the first year of the first year of the Western Han Dynasty (AD 1), zubenfuyu occupied Gaogouli County in xuantu County, which was called Gaogouli. Tonghua County belongs to Koguryo.
The Three Kingdoms, the two Jin Dynasties, the southern and Northern Dynasties and the Sui Dynasty were the separate regimes of Koguryo, which were subordinate to the Central Plains dynasties.
In the first year of Tang Zongzhang (A.D. 668), after the destruction of Koguryo, Anton governor's office was set up, which governs Kyushu. Tonghua County is under the jurisdiction of gewuzhou (the state is governed by Chibaisong ancient city, kuaidamao Town, Tonghua County). In the Bohai Sea period of Tang Dynasty, it belonged to the Zhengzhou of Yalu Prefecture in Xijing.

In the early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Xiuyan Prefecture, Shengjing, and was later banned in the name of protecting its birthplace. In 1877, Tonghua County was located in the east of Xiuyan. In 1878, Tonghua County belonged to Shengjing and Xingjing. In 1902, Linjiang County, Ji'an County and Liuhe County were designated. The county borders Linjiang boundary of HONGSHILAZI in the East, Xingjing boundary of Fuer River in the west, Ji'an boundary of Weisha River in the South and Liuhe boundary of Longgang watershed in the north. In the first year of Xuantong (1909), half of Desheng Bao was assigned to Linjiang County, and the rest remained unchanged.
The second year of the Republic of China (1913) belongs to the Eastern Road of Fengtian province. In 1926, the north of Dahuanggou was designated as Jinchuan county. The county borders wudaojiangling Linjiang County in the East, fuerjiang Xingjing County in the west, weishahegang Ji'an County in the south, Longgang watershed Liuhe County in the north, Laoling watershed Ji'an County in the southeast, quliuchuan Jinchuan County in the northeast, fuerjiang Huanren County in the southwest and Longgang Liuhe County in the northwest. In 1929, it was directly under Fengtian province. In 1934, it belonged to Anton province. In 1938, it belonged to Tonghua province. In 1945, it belonged to Anton province. In the 35th year of the Republic of China (1946), it belonged to Tonghua Province in February and Liaoning Province in May. In the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), Tonghua County and city were jointly established in May, belonging to Liaoning Province. On October 1, 1949, the people's Republic of China was born. Tonghua County belongs to Tonghua District Office of administrative inspector of Liaodong province.
In June 1952, Tonghua district administrative inspector office was abolished, and Tonghua County was directly under Liaodong province.
After Dahuanggou village was divided into five districts of Liuhe County in July 1953, it reached the boundary of Sanjie shanhunjiang in the East and Dadingzi Liuhe in the northeast, and the rest remained unchanged.
In August 1954, it was under the jurisdiction of Tonghua regional Commissioner Office of Jilin Province (Tonghua regional Commissioner Office was established on August 20). On the 24th, Tonghua City and Tonghua County worked together. In October, qidaogou village was under the jurisdiction of Tonghua County.
In June 1955, the names of seven districts were changed from ordinal to resident. In August, Tiechang district and Yixin village, Tiechang street and Tuanjie Street belong to the county; qidaogou village of Liudaogou district and Madang village of Ermi District belong to Tonghua City; reshuihezi district is renamed sidaojiang district. The county governs 8 districts, 121 villages and 2 streets, including kuaidamaozi, daquanyuan, yingebu, Liudaogou, Ermi, Guanghua, sidaojiang and tiechangzi.
In August 1956, four districts of kuaidamaozi, daquanyuan, Ermi and sidaojiang were abolished, and three districts of Liudaogou, yingebu and Guanghua and Tiechang town were reserved. The village system was abolished, and 40 townships were set up in the county, with 108 senior agricultural production cooperatives under its jurisdiction.
On October 9, 1957, the two streets of Madang and qidaogou in Tonghua City were assigned to Tonghua County, and Madang town and qidaogou town were established. On November 1, Jinchang Township and Changliu township of Tonghua County were under the jurisdiction of Tonghua city.
In March 1958, yingebu, Liudaogou and Guanghua districts were abolished, and 38 townships were merged into 23 townships. Madang, qidaogou and wudaojiang towns were township level towns, and Tiechang town was district level town. On September 18, a people's commune was set up in the whole county, and seven people's commune branches were set up with the original district as the unit to implement the integration of government and society; four towns of Madang, qidaogou, wudaojiang and Tiechang were abolished, and sub district offices were set up, which were subordinate to each branch; 136 agricultural cooperatives were merged into 102 agricultural production areas.
On May 6, 1961, the people's communes of kuaidamaozi, daquanyuan, yingebu, Liudaogou, Ermi, Guanghua and sidaojiang were abolished. Reset: 20 people's communes: kuaidamaozi, daduling, Jindou, daquanyuan, Dachuan, Minzhu, Guanghua, Xinghua, Fujiang, yingebu, chelingbei, sanpengdianzi, sankeyushu, Ermi, Donglai, Shihu, Guosong, Liudaogou, Yayuan and Huancheng.
On June 9, 1962, the county had 20 people's communes: kuaidamaozi commune, daduling commune, Jindou commune, daquanyuan commune, Dachuan commune, democratic commune, yingebu commune, sankeyushu commune, Fujiang commune, sanpengdianzi commune, chelingbei commune, Liudaogou commune, Guosong commune, Donglai commune, Shihu commune, Ermi commune, Guanghua commune and Xinghua commune There are 123 brigades, including Da'an commune, Hulutao commune.
On January 18, 1963, Madang town and qidaogou town were established. At the same time, it was divided into three brigades: Madang, qidaogou and Yifeng.

On March 19, 1968, chelingbei commune was merged with sanpengdianzi commune, and Simi commune was assigned to zhengcha brigade to establish sipengdianzi commune.
On March 15, 1976, the first and second production teams of kuaidamaozi, Dong'an, Qianjin, Lixin and Chibaisong production teams of kuaidamaozi commune were set up.
In 1977, the first and second production teams of Chibaisong in kuaidamao town were assigned back to the Chibaisong production team of kuaidamaozi commune, and the two production teams of kuaidamao town and Lixin set up the Xinmao production team.
In 1978, the peace brigade of daquanyuan commune was divided into one or two groups; the city wall brigade of Dachuan commune was divided into one or two groups; the yingebu commune was divided into one, two or three groups; the banlabei brigade of Fujiang commune was divided into hongshila brigade; the Wanlong brigade of Liudaogou commune was divided into Wudaogou brigade; the Dachuan brigade of Ermi commune was divided into beidianzi brigade; and the shangsiping brigade of Daan commune was divided into four groups Draw out the lamenli brigade.

On August 3, 1983, all communes were renamed as townships, and all brigades were renamed as villages. At the same time, the Democratic commune was changed into jiangdianzi township; Liudaogou commune was changed into Guosong township; Xinghua commune was changed into Xinglin township. On September 26, JinDou township was changed into Jindou Korean Manchu Township. On December 9, some villages and towns were adjusted and Shuguang village, which belonged to Ermi Township, was put under the control of Madang town; Ermi township was abolished and set up as Ermi Town, with jurisdiction over Desheng, Ermi, Hengde and miaodong villages; new Gangou township was built, with jurisdiction over Gangou, dalianchuan, Badaogou, beidianzi, Xicha, Yingmencha and zhengcha villages.
On December 28, 1984, Guosong township was abolished and Guosong town was established. The jurisdiction remained unchanged.
On November 13, 1985, the system of kuaidamaozi township was abolished, and its villages were merged into kuaidamao town. So far, the county has jurisdiction over 5 towns, 16 townships, 157 villages and 643 natural villages.
In 2000, the county set up 12 towns, 9 townships (including 2 minority townships), a total of 160 administrative villages.
