Jiangxian County, subordinate to Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, is located in the northeast corner of Yuncheng City and the north foot of Zhongtiao Shanxi. It is located at the junction of Yuncheng City, Linfen City and Jincheng city. It is adjacent to Yicheng County in the East, Wenxi County in the west, Yuanqu County in the south, and Yicheng County, Quwo County and Houma City in the north, covering a total area of 996 square kilometers.
Jiangxian has a long history. Zhoujiazhuang site is the largest human gathering place in the Yellow River Basin in Neolithic age. Jiangxian county is the hometown of Yao. The legend of Yao is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. There are many remains in Jiangxian cemetery, Jinwen cemetery, Jinling cemetery and Cheche city. It is the first time that the name of "county" appeared in the pre Qin historical books and records about the longevity of "Jiangxian old man" in Zuozhuan, so Jiangxian is known as "the first county in the world".

The spring and Autumn period belongs to the Jin Dynasty. In the eighth year of King Zhouhui (669 BC), the Duke of Jin Xianwei killed the group of young men in "Ju" (Ju, Nancheng village, 5 kilometers south of the county), and named this place Jiang. The next year, he ordered the great Sikong shijuan to build Jiang City, and the capital was originally set in Jiang. In 541 BC, a county was set up, which was called Jiang county.
In 585 B.C., King Jinggong of Jin moved the capital of Jin to Xintian (now the year of Houma City), and ordered Xintian to be Xinjiang, which was called gujiang.

In the 26th year of Yingzheng (221 BC), Emperor Qinshihuang set Jiangxian County as Hedong county.

In the 11th year of Jianwu (35th year) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Jiangxian county was changed into Jiangyi County, belonging to Hedong county.

Jiangxian county is located in the south of Shanxi Province and the northeast of Yuncheng City. It is surrounded by Zhongtiao Mountain in the East and south, Pingchuan and basin in the West and North, Yicheng County in the East, Wenxi County in the west, Yuanqu County in the south, Yicheng County, Quwo County and Houma City in the north. There are two major water systems in Jiangxian County: Wushui river system and Wushui river system. The total length of the river is more than 160 kilometers, the average annual runoff is 0.7 cubic meters per second, and the total groundwater reserves are about 1.265 billion cubic meters. The project can supply 64 million cubic meters of water annually for Jiangxian County, including 35 million cubic meters for agriculture and 29 million cubic meters for urban and industrial use.
