Historical evolution
"Luqu" is a transliteration of Tibetan language, which means Taoshui (Lu: originally means Xiaolong, shuishe). It gets its name because it is located in the east of Xiqing mountain and the source of Taoshui. As early as the Neolithic age, the ancestors of Qiang people lived and multiplied in Taoshui Valley and Bailongjiang area. In the early Han Dynasty, the qiangliu river was once nomadic here. At the time of the Three Kingdoms, Taoyuan belonged to Wei. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, Taoyuan was occupied by tubaohun. In the first year of the great cause of Sui Dynasty (605), Tuyuhun was pacified and four counties were restored. Taoyuan was under the jurisdiction of Lintao county. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, Cangzhou (located in today's Xicang township) was built, and its East, West, and north sides were tied with Taoshui to manage Taoyuan area. In the Qing Dynasty, the Taoyuan area in the west of zhongweng was occupied by Heshuote Mongols, and the Taoyuan area in the East was under the jurisdiction of Taozhou department. In 1748, Taozhou Wei was changed into Taozhou department, belonging to gongchang Prefecture of Gansu Province. In 1913, when Gansu Province was divided into seven administrative districts, the Department was changed into a county. From then on, most of Taoyuan was under the jurisdiction of Lintan county. Before 1949, the Tibetans in the territory belonged to the tribe of shuangchaguowa (head), the tribe of xicanghongbu (tuguan), the tribe of tanglongguowa, and the pastoral area of Langmu temple. In 1952, when Lintan county was divided into districts and townships, Taoyuan was classified as its county. In June of that year, Taoyuan and Euler administrative working committees were established. In June 1955, the people's Committee of Luqu county was established in Jiake village, Xicang township.
