In the Western Han Dynasty, Mianzhu and Shangying counties were set up. In Tang Dynasty, it was Shangying County of Qinzhou. The Yuan Dynasty was Chengji County of Qinzhou. In the Ming Dynasty, it entered Qinzhou. In 1729, Qinzhou was promoted to Zhili Prefecture, which was subordinate to the Minister of Gansu Province.
In February 1913, Qinzhou was changed into Tianshui County, which governed today's urban area and was subordinate to Longnan road in Gansu Province (soon renamed Weichuan Road); Sancha hall was built and retained, and the State Department of justice was removed, and a police sub department was set up.
In 1927, Weichuan road was changed into Weichuan district administrative office. In 1935, it was changed into the fourth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision of Gansu Province, and was stationed in Tianshui county (today's water city).
Tianshui County People's government was established on August 3, 1949. The county government established today's Tianshui City, which is under the jurisdiction of Tianshui administrative inspector's office. At the beginning of September, Tianshui Municipal People's government was established, which was in charge of the original county and its suburbs. The rural areas outside the county were Tianshui county. Today, Maiji district belongs to Tianshui county.
In February 1950, the northwest military and political Commission officially approved the establishment of Tianshui City (county-level construction) to govern Tianshui City and Tianshui county to govern Tianshui well (now Tianshui County village, Qinzhou District).
In December 1958, Tianshui county was merged into Tianshui city.
In December 1961, the county and city were set up separately, and the system of Tianshui county was restored. The county government established Tianshui County, now Qinzhou District. In July 1962, it moved to beidaobu (now Maiji city).
In September 1984, Tianshui city at the county level was changed into a sub prefecture level city. Qincheng district was set up in five townships and seven offices of the former Tianshui City, and Beidao district was set up in five townships of the former Tianshui County, including mabaoquan, Ganquan, Maiji, erlipu, SHETANG and Beidao town (the two districts were built at the county level, known as the district office at that time, which was the agency of the municipal government).
In April 1985, Beidao district was abolished, and the territory still belonged to Tianshui county. In July of the same year, the State Council approved the abolition of Tianshui Prefecture and Tianshui county. Tianshui city was upgraded to prefecture level city, and two county-level districts, Qinzhou and Beidao, were established. The former 17 townships in southwest Tianshui county were assigned to Qinzhou District, and the other 22 townships and Beidao town formed Beidao district.
On October 9, 2015, Tianshui City agreed to change Qishou Town, yangjiasi town and Damen town into Qishou Town, yangjiasi town and Damen town. (GMF [2015] No. 113)
