Pinglu District Pinglu district is under the jurisdiction of Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province. Its geographical coordinates lie between 111 ′ 52 ′ - 112 ° 41 ′ E and 39 ° 21 ′ - 39 ° 58 ′ n. Located between the inner and outer Great Wall in Northwest Shanxi, it is located in the northern border of Shanxi Province, bordering Qingshuihe and Helingeer in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; it is adjacent to Pianguan and Shenchi counties in Xinzhou City in the southwest; it is adjacent to Shuocheng city in the South; it is adjacent to Shanyin in the East; it is adjacent to Youyu in the northeast.
The region is 69.5km long from north to South and 67.9km long from east to west, forming a triangle shape. The total area of the region is 2314 square kilometers, with a total population of 210000 (in 2017). It governs 11 townships, 2 towns and 352 administrative villages.
Originally known as Pinglu County, in 1988, when the State Council approved Shuozhou City as a prefecture level city in Shanxi Province, the county was changed into the jurisdiction of Shuozhou. It is known as "shuobei xiongcheng, a natural danger beyond the Great Wall".
On September 7, 2018, the Shanxi provincial government officially approved the withdrawal of Pinglu poverty county and announced it to the public.

The origin of the name
Ming Jiajing middle-aged Ping Lu Wei moved from Datong to zhilao military camp, namely Pinglu City, 30 kilometers north of jinjingping. In the early Qing Dynasty, Manchu people came to control the Central Plains and hated "Lu", so they changed "Lu" to "Lu".
Historical evolution
As early as the Paleolithic and Neolithic age, human beings lived and multiplied here, and in the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, they lived in Beidi.
In the spring and Autumn period, it belonged to Linhu and Loufan. In the middle and late Warring States period, after King Wuling of Zhao broke Linhu and Loufan, it was under the jurisdiction of Yanmen County of Zhao state.
Qin called Wuzhou saidI, subordinate to Yanmen county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Zhongling, which was renamed zhazai in the new dynasty, and in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was renamed Zhongling. In the 27th year of Jianwu (51th year), it belonged to Dingxiang County. In 215, Zhongling moved to the West with Dingxiang County and was subordinate to Xinxing County. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, the capital was moved to Luoyang in the 17th year of Taihe (493), and it was changed to Huanzhou. In the Northern Qi Dynasty, it was incorporated into Shuozhou in the Northern Zhou Dynasty and was under the jurisdiction of Guang'an Prefecture.

Baodacha was set up in Tang Dynasty and inhabited by Uighur people in the third year of Huichang (843). In Liao Dynasty, it was in the north of Shuozhou and Wuzhou, in the east of ningbian Prefecture, and in Jin Dynasty, it was returned to Shanyang. In Yuan Dynasty, it was cut into Wuzhou.
In the early Ming Dynasty, it was called the old military camp and garrison. Chenghua seventeen years (1481) set up Ping Lu Wei, is Shanxi Xingdu division Datong house. Chenghua 21 years (1485) set up Jingping (jinjingping town).
In 1725, Pinglu Wei was changed into Pinglu County, which belonged to shuoping Prefecture. At that time, shuoping government was located in Youyu, one Prefecture and four counties, namely Youyu, Zuoyun, Pinglu, Mayi and Shuozhou.
In 1914, Pinglu county was subordinate to Yanmen Road, Shanxi Province. In 1928, it was directly under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province. After the Japanese invasion in 1937, pinglucheng and Jingping towns were occupied. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, most areas established Anti Japanese democratic regime and became revolutionary bases. During the Anti Japanese War, some villages in this county and neighboring counties were divided into counties.
In 1939, it was divided into Qingping County, Youping county and shanshuo county. In 1941, it was changed to Pinglu County, Younan county and shanshuo County, and its membership was often changed. From October 1937 to August 1940, Pinglu returned to Lianhe County after the establishment of qingpingyun Lianhe county. From September 29 to July 30 of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of the 11th special office of Northwest Shanxi, and from August 30 to July 31 of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Saibei district (suimeng District), until the victory of the Anti Japanese war on August 18 of the thirty fourth year of the Republic of China (1945) and the restoration of Pinglu county.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Pinglu County belonged to Chahar province.
In April 1951, the county government moved from Pinglu city to Jingping town.
In November 1952, after Chahar province was abolished, Pinglu was put under the jurisdiction of Yanbei Department of Shanxi Province.
In June 1958, Yanbei district and Xinzhou District were merged to establish Jinbei special office, and Pingshuo county was merged to be called Shuo county.
In April 1961, the Jinbei special office was abolished and Yanbei special office was re established. In July of the same year, Pinglu county was restored.
After the establishment of Shuozhou City in March 1988, Pinglu was transferred to Shuozhou and changed from county to Pinglu district.

In 2001, some villages in Jingping town were assigned to Baitang Township, Pinglu Township and zhouhuaban Township were merged into Fenghuang Township, only niquan township was merged into shuishuitou Township, Liujiayao township (the vast majority) was merged into Zhehu Township and shuangnian Township, Jiangjiaping township was merged into gaoshizhuang Township, Luotuoshan Township into xishuijie Township, huagetuo Township into xiaxiagao Township, dongpingtai Township into xiangyangbao township. The main geomorphic types are rocky mountainous area, loess hilly area and Intermountain basin, accounting for 45%, 51% and 4% of the total area respectively.
The planning area is loess hilly landform, with the terrain higher in the north and lower in the south, and the general elevation is 1200-1350m. The forest coverage rate of the whole area is low, and the soil erosion and ground cutting are serious.

Pinglu belongs to the north temperate continental monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons, cool in spring, hot in summer, cool in autumn, cold in winter, large annual and daily temperature range, and annual average temperature of 5.5 ℃. Due to the influence of seasonal wind, the precipitation in each month of a year is extremely uneven. Generally, the precipitation from June to August accounts for 65.2% of the total annual precipitation.

The whole area is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, the middle reaches of the Haihe River, and Hutou mountain is the watershed of the two water systems. 42.4% of the area belongs to the Yellow River Basin, and 57.6% belongs to the Haihe River Basin. There are 10 main rivers, and Dashagou and Qilihe flow through the industrial park.
Dashagou: it belongs to Sanggan River system, with a total length of 99km, a drainage area of 856km, a gradient of 0.77%, and a peak discharge of 2395m / s with a 50 year return period.
Qilihe: it belongs to Sanggan River system, with a total length of 21km, a drainage area of 174km, a gradient of 2.0%, and a 50 year flood peak discharge of 487m / s.

The total reserves of kaolin are 1.3 billion tons, of which the exploration reserves of kaolinite are 2.725 million tons, the recoverable reserves are 1.4 million tons, and the thickness is 2 meters. The large-scale kaolinite ore body that can be mined independently is discovered for the first time in Shanxi Province.
