Longsheng Autonomous County was located in Tan Cheng County, Wuling County of Jingzhou during the Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period;
From Jin Dynasty to Sui Dynasty, it belongs to Shi'an Prefecture;
Lingchuan County was set up in the second year of longshuo (662) of Tang Dynasty, and Longsheng County belonged to Lingchuan County; after five dynasties, Yining County was set up in the eighth year of Tianfu (943) of Jin Dynasty, and Longsheng County belonged to Yining County; in song, yuan and Ming Dynasties, Longsheng County still belonged to Yining County. In the Ming Dynasty, the inspection department (sangjiangkou) was set up in Siping, 30 Li northwest of Yining County, to govern the commoner affairs in the northwest of Yining County (today's longshengjing). In the late Ming Dynasty, the inspection department of sangjiangkou was eliminated.
At the end of the reign of emperor Shunzhi (1657-1661), the SangJiang division was restored and still under the jurisdiction of Yining County. In 1741, the northwest of Yining County, which was under the jurisdiction of sangjiangsi, was set up as "Longsheng LiMiao branch office" (also known as Longsheng Hall), which was directly under the jurisdiction of Guilin government. It was set up as "LiMiao tongduan" (county magistrate) to govern the general affairs of the whole government.
