Coqin county is a county in the southeast of Ali Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region of the people's Republic of China, 1079 kilometers away from Lhasa. The geographical coordinates are 30 ° 51 ′ - 31 ° 00 ′ N and 85 ° 09 ′ - 85 ° 19 ′ e respectively. There are many lakes in the territory, with sufficient water resources. "Cuoqin" means "Dahu" in Tibetan, which is named after the "Zhari nanmucuo" Salt Lake, more than 10 kilometers east of the county. With an average altitude of more than 4700 meters, it is one of the few high altitude counties. The government is located in Mendong village, Coqin town. It covers an area of 22000 square kilometers and has a total population of 13200 (2013). The second line of Xinzang highway passes through.
Coqin county is rich in animal products resources and is one of the pure animal husbandry counties in Tibet and Ali Region. The permanent residents are all Tibetans, who believe in the white religion of Tibetan missionaries, and a small number of them believe in Bon religion.
On December 9, 2019, the people's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region approved Coqin county to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties (districts).

Coqin means "Great Lake" and "great sea" in Tibetan. In Tibetan, "CuO" means "Hu" and "Qin (BU)" means "Da". It was established in 1997 and mainly promoted white cashmere goats in Ali area.
