Dongbao District, Dongbao District, under the jurisdiction of Jingmen City, Hubei Province, is named after the Dongbao pagoda at taipingding, the main peak of Dongbao mountain in Jingmen City, built in the Sui Dynasty. Dongbao is located in the middle of Hubei Province, with Jingshan mountain in the north and Jianghan Plain in the south.
Dongbao District is adjacent to Zhongxiang City in the East, Yuanan county and Nanzhang County in the west, Yicheng city in the north, Dangyang city and Shayang County in the south. The maximum length of the whole region is about 70.75 km from north to South and 48 km from east to west. It covers an area of 1298 square kilometers. By the end of 2016, the population of the whole region was 410000. Dongbao District governs 1 Township, 5 towns and 2 streets: Xianju Township, pailou town, Ziling Town, shiqiaoyi Town, Mahe Town, Lixi Town, Longquan street and quankou street.
Scenic spots include dongbaota, Longquan academy, Xiangshan "four springs" (Longmeng, Huishun); zhuomadong, Xianrenyan and other ancient battlefield relics of the Three Kingdoms; Laolaizi villa, shengjingshan, Jiulonggu, baiyunlou and other Taoist relics; natural karst cave, xianglongdong National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot Zhanghe reservoir.
Historical evolution
During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, Dongbao belonged to the ancient Ruo kingdom.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to Chu.
In the Western Han Dynasty, there were Bian County in the West (near Xianju market town), Ruo County in the East, Dangyang County in the south, and Nanshan county and ruozhou County in the north and south.
The Eastern Han Dynasty was the same as the Western Han Dynasty, but ruozhou was changed to Zhuozhou. In the 13th year of Jian'an (208), Wei Wu got to Jingzhou. In the west, it was Bian County; in the south, it was Dangyang County, belonging to Nanjun County; in the north, fufu County belonged to Xiangyang County. In the 14th year, Dangyang County in the South and Bian County in the West belonged to the southern county of Dongwu. In nineteen years, Wu and Shu were divided into Jingzhou, and Dangyang and Bian counties were returned to Shuhan. In the 24th year, Dangyang and Bian counties belonged to Wu county again, while Wei county still belonged to Wei county.
The Western Jin Dynasty was ruled by the Wu Dynasty. In 352 (the eighth year of Yonghe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty), Huanwen descended from Juzhang and established Wuning County in Bian county. Changning County was set up in the north of Bian county and Lexiang county was set up in the south. Dongbao is located in Changning and Lexiang counties. In the fifth year of Long'an (401), Changlin county was established in the old town of Bian county. Changlin county was established with Wuning county (later moved to Lexiang county).
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, the song and Qi dynasties were ruled by the Jin Dynasty.
In 552, the first year of the abolition of the emperor in the Western Wei Dynasty, the state of juezhou was established in Lexiang county. In the eighth year of Tianbao (557) of the Northern Qi Dynasty, the county was abandoned and incorporated into Changlin county. In the sixth year of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (571), it was assigned to Houliang, and Dongbao belonged to Houliang.
Sui kaihuang seven years (587), after the destruction of Liang. In the first year of Daye (605), Fuzhou was abandoned and fulexiang county was established. In the north, it belongs to Lexiang County, while in the south, it still belongs to Changlin county.
In 621, Changlin County belonged to Jingzhou, Fuzhou and zhilexiang county. Zhenguan eight years (634) waste state, Li Jingmen County, Dongbao is Jingmen county.
During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Dongbao was governed by Gao family of Jingnan state. In 940, Jingmen army was set up in Dangyang, which led Changlin county and belonged to Jiangling Prefecture. In the second year of Zhou Xiande's reign (955), he abandoned Le Township and entered Yicheng County in the north and Changlin County in the south. Dongbao is under the jurisdiction of Changlin county.
In the third year of Jianlong in the Northern Song Dynasty (962), Changlin county was transferred to eastern Mongolia (now Jingmen City). Kaibao five years (972) in Changlin County, the restoration of Jingmen army, led Changlin, Dangyang two counties.
In the 14th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1144), Dangyang county was abandoned to Changlin county. In 1146, Dangyang county was restored. Most of the territory belongs to Changlin County, and the southwest belongs to Dangyang County, both of which belong to Jingmen army.
In 1277, Jingmen army was promoted to Jingmen Prefecture, and in 1328, Tianli Prefecture was demoted to Jingmen Prefecture. Still leading Changlin and Dangyang.
In 1376, Jingmen Prefecture was reduced to Jingmen County, and Changlin county was abandoned to Jingmen county. In the 13th year, Jingmen county was promoted to Jingmen Prefecture, which was subordinate to Tianfu.
In 1791, Jingmen Prefecture was promoted to Zhili Prefecture, which was under the command of Hubei buzhengshi, leading Dangyang county and Yuan'an county. Dongbao is directly under the jurisdiction of Jingmen Prefecture.
In 1912, Zhili Prefecture of Jingmen was changed into Jingmen county.
In 1940, the Japanese occupied Jingmen, and the county government moved to sanquangouhe in the north of Dongbao (now liuhoujichenwan in Yicheng County). A large area of Dongbao was occupied.
In August 1945, Jingmen county government returned to Jingmen Chengguan.
On February 4, 1949, Jingmen City was liberated. On August 1, the people's Government of Jingmen county was established.
On November 16, 1979, Jingmen City was set up. Dongbao city and its suburbs belong to Jingmen City, and other parts belong to Jingmen county.
On August 19, 1983, Jingmen county was abolished and merged into Jingmen City, directly under the people's Government of Hubei Province.
In May 1985, with the approval of the State Council, Dongbao District was set up under the jurisdiction of Jingmen City.

In 1539, there were 1100 households in Shipai village of Wangxiang Township, Jingmen County, and seven in Maxian village, which were under the jurisdiction of Zhongxiang county. In 1767, the Liyang division of Jingmen was assigned to Zhongxiang (now Xianju, east of shiqiaoyi, Huji and Shuanghe).
In April 1936, in order to solve the border enclaves of Jingmen, Zhongxiang, Dangyang, Yuan'an and Nanzhang counties, Hubei provincial government assigned Zhongxiang Qingli township (now Lixi area) to Yuan'an, Yangshu township (now yongshengji area) to Jingmen, set up Lixi District Office in the crisscross area, and set up Yongqing, Wensheng, Gongping and Yongding four townships, with 2943 households belonging to Yuan'an county. At the same time, zhangjiaji, duanjiaji and tongshupu in Jingmen county are assigned to Zhongxiang from the east of sidewalk.

In April 1960, six production teams, Xiongfeng, Xinfeng, Sanhua, Qianfeng, Guanfeng and Gaofeng, were assigned to Yandun commune of Jingmen county.
Dongbao District was set up in May 1985, with jurisdiction over 5 towns and 28 townships (baicang, Dali, Tieping, Yaohe, Xihe, shuange, Zhenzhu, Xianju, Xuji, Paoma, Yongsheng, shiqiaoyi, Nanqiao, Qiqiao, Bajiaomiao, duodaoshi, Geji, pailou, quankou, Macheng, cheqiao, Zhouji, queji, Guanyin, antuan, Hechang, zhaomiao, zhangmiao) And Longquan, Baimiao, Shilipai three sub district offices.

The 15 villages of former Hechang Township, including Suchang, zhudian, Shilong, Hechang, mamiao, songdian, Qiling, xiongdian, luozui, Dingmiao, Siling, Yinshan, Pu'an, zhaomiao, luchong and Longquanhu neighborhood committee, were merged into tuanlinpu town. In December 2011, Zhanghe new district was established in Jingmen City, and Zhanghe town was under the jurisdiction of Zhanghe new district.
