Bianba county is a county under the jurisdiction of Changdu City, Tibet Autonomous Region, with nine townships including caoka Town, Bianba town and Mawu township.

It is located in the northeast of Tibet, the west of Changdu city and the south foot of Nyainqentanglha mountain. The average altitude of Bianba county is 3500 meters, and the highest altitude is more than 5500 meters; it is more than 400 kilometers away from the urban area of Changdu City, and more than 800 kilometers away from Lhasa, the capital of the autonomous region.

The total area of the county is 8881 square kilometers.

In 2013, the forest area was 2400 square kilometers, accounting for 26.98% of the total area of the county.

Bianba county is dominated by agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry. The main crops are highland barley, winter wheat, spring wheat, beans, rape and so on.

On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce. On February 6, 2019, the people's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region decided to withdraw Bianba county from poverty-stricken county.

Historical evolution

Bianba, in Tibetan, means "auspicious glory, auspicious flame".

In 1265, in order to further strengthen the management of Tibet, basiba, the first national teacher of the Yuan Dynasty, returned from Dadu (today's Beijing) to luosa (today's Lhasa). When he passed xiahewan (today's Xialin Village), he inserted a torch into the soil beside the village and asked to build a Buddhist hall here. After the completion of the Buddhist hall, it was named Bianba with the meaning of torch.

A hundred years ago, Dalong Zong was harassed by bandits. He moved the Zong government from puyuding to xiahewan. The temporary government was set up in Bianba temple and changed Dalong Zong to Bianba Zong (binba in Qing Dynasty).

In 1951, the Zong Liberation Committee was established, which is the first office of the Changdu District liberation Committee in 39 ethnic groups.

In January 1960, Bian Ba Zong and Sha Ding Zong merged and renamed Bian Ba County. The county government was stationed in Xialin village.

In February 1968, the county site was moved from Xialin village to dongmatong in the lower reaches of maiqu River, a tributary of Nujiang River.

In November 2014, Changdu was set up as a city, and Bianba county was under the jurisdiction of Changdu city.

Bianba county is located at the southern foot of zangnianqing Tanggula Mountain, in the gorge area of the three river valley. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north. There are overlapping mountains and gullies, with an altitude of 3500-5000 meters.

Economic situation

Bianba county is dominated by agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry. The main crops are highland barley, winter wheat, spring wheat, beans, rape and so on. It mainly raises yak, yak, cattle, horse, sheep, goat, etc. Industry is based on rural handicraft industry. County has a mechanical oil plant, lime plant and mining, power stations. There is a general highway connecting Sichuan Tibet highway in dongmatong. The highways from dongmatong to Maxiu, Danda, Wuren, Songduo and shading have been built one after another. More than 300 kilometers have been opened to traffic in the county.

In October 2000, the simple highway from Bianba county to Jinling township was opened, but it was blocked by heavy snow for half a year.

In the late autumn of 2002, the construction of bianre highway was started, with a total investment of 55.14 million yuan and a total length of 91 km. Bianre highway is the main highway from Bianba county to Reyu Township and DUWA township. It lasted for three years, and was a key project of work relief in Bianba county. The highway passes through the mountain of Gula at an altitude of 4800 meters, connecting the county seat with Reyu Township and DUWA Township, which have not been accessible for generations.

As of 2013, there are 2 District roads, totaling 350 km, and 4 township roads, totaling 142 km. Bianba county has the original only channel, Changbian highway to connect with the outside world, and built biansha highway and Caojin highway.

In October 2018, the construction bidding notice was issued for the reconstruction project of the Bianba Jiali section of national highway 349. The main line adopts the standard of class III Highway, the design speed is 30km / h, and the subgrade width is controlled by 7.5m.

At the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan period, the enrollment rates of primary and secondary schools in Bianba county were 80% and 40% respectively, and less than 15 people were admitted to universities every year.

In 2016, the enrollment rates of primary and secondary schools in Bianba county were 98% and 95% respectively, and the balanced development of compulsory education passed the national acceptance. In the past two years, more than 200 people have been admitted to universities every year.

From 2015 to June 2019, the county implemented the reconstruction project of 40 schools' weak facilities, 11 primary and secondary schools' reconstruction and expansion, 1 Township Primary School and 1 kindergarten's relocation and expansion, and 4 new village level kindergartens.

In May 2016, the construction of small-scale irrigation and water conservancy in Bianba county was under way. In 2015, the key county construction projects were mainly concentrated in Bianba town and Jinling Township, with a total irrigation area of 7059 Mu and a planned total investment of 11.528 million yuan.

In 2020, Bianba county will implement the rural drinking water safety consolidation and improvement project, which involves 37 villages, including the construction of water pipeline insulation measures, water source insulation room, etc.

Sanse Lake

"Sanse Lake" is located in Puyu village, Bianba Town, Bianba County, 50 kilometers away from the county seat.

"Three color lakes" are black lake, White Lake and Yellow Lake, which have different colors in the sun, so they are called "three color lake". The three color lakes are arranged in irregular "pin" lines. The lakes are separated by low mountain platforms. They are all formed by years of ice and snow accumulation in the valley and low-lying area. The total area of the three lakes is about 150000 square meters, and the water storage capacity is 2.8 million square meters. Among them, Heihu lake is the largest, with an area of about 100000 square meters and a livestock water volume of 2 million square meters.
