Historical evolution
The origin of place names
At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the green camp troops set up the flood prevention, which was named zhuanping. Later, the county seat was named Langao because it lived on the Bank of Lanhe River and the highland beside the water was called Zhigao.
According to Li Daoyuan of the Northern Wei Dynasty, Lanhe river is called langu. According to the unified annals of the Qing Dynasty, "there are many hazes on both sides of the Lanhe River, so it is called Lanhe river.". "Cihai" is interpreted as: LAN - fog in the mountains, Gao - Highland near the water. Looking up ancient books and studying anecdotes, langaogai got its name because of its landscape.
History of construction
During the period of Yangshao culture 5000 years ago, there were ancestors living in the area of xiaojiaba and Xiyao. According to records, the Yong tribe was once known as the aboriginal mountain people. They ate Bashan mountain and drank Lanhe River, and passed on from generation to generation. Due to the extreme wilderness, the government has been slow to set up any institutions here.
After the unification of the Yuan Dynasty, national oppression forced a large number of mountain people to live in seclusion in Bashan Laolin.
At the beginning of Ming Dynasty, the whole Hanjiang River Basin from Xiangyang to Dabashan was forbidden.
Langao, formerly known as zhuanping, got its name from the Han Dynasty bricks dug out from the earth when the green camp soldiers set up flood land to build houses in the early years of Shunzhi period of Qing Dynasty. Before Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, zhuanping was an old forest in Bashan mountains, which was extremely wild. Therefore, there was no administrative organization and no official. In 1783, when Bi Yuan was in charge of Shaanxi Province, he asked Ankang County Cheng (zhengbapin) to be stationed in zhuanping to "take charge of arrest" (that is, to take charge of social security). This is the beginning of zhuanping administrative officials. During the period when the Chengfen of Ankang county was stationed in zhuanping, zhuanping still belonged to Ankang County administratively, which was actually the sub County of Ankang county. In the second year of Daoguang (1822), the governors of the three provinces of Qin, Chu and Shu discussed with each other. On the ground that zhuanping was located on the border of the three provinces, with deep mountains and dense forests, it was a place where thieves lived. They asked zhuanping to set up an office to pacify the people. After Emperor Daoguang's permission, zhuanping hall was set up, which was separated from Ankang county and directly under Xing'an Prefecture. The first officer of zhuanping hall was a flagman. Before him, he was the general judge of Fengxiang Prefecture. He was a senior magistrate of six grades. At the same time of setting up the office of zhuanping, the original county magistrate was removed, and the inspection department of zhuanping was added as well as the prison department. Since then, zhuanping has become an independent administrative building.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the system of government, prefecture and department was abolished, and there were two levels of road and county below the province. Zhuanping department was changed to zhuanping County, which belongs to Hanzhong Road. In 1917, zhuanping county changed its name to Langao County, which was named Langao because it lived on the Bank of Lanhe River and the highland beside the water. In 1933, the road was abolished and the county was led by the province. Langao County was directly under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province. In July 1935, the fifth Office of administrative inspector of Ankang was set up in Shaanxi Province, under the jurisdiction of Langao County.
In May 1949, the people's Government of Langao County (hereinafter referred to as the county government) was established in Yunyang County of Hubei Province, which is subordinate to the office of administrative inspector of Ankang District of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region.
On November 28, 1949, after the liberation of Langao, the county government moved to Langao County. In January 1950, the people's Government of Shaanxi Province was established, with Ankang District Commissioner's office under the jurisdiction of Langao County. In October 1969, Ankang district was changed into Ankang District, the office of the Commissioner of Ankang district was changed into the Revolutionary Committee of Ankang District, and Langao County was subordinate to it. In 1979, the Ankang regional Revolutionary Committee was abolished and the Ankang regional administrative office was set up, which was subordinate to Langao County. In December 2000, Ankang was transformed into a city, and Langao County was subordinate to Ankang City.
On February 27, 2020, the people's Government of Shaanxi Province approved that Langao County officially withdrew from the poverty-stricken county sequence.
