Nanhua County Nanhua County is under the jurisdiction of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The original name of Zhennan was changed to Nanhua County in 1954, which means "a beautiful place in Southwest China".
Nanhua County is located in the west of Chuxiong Prefecture, adjacent to Mouding County in the East, Chuxiong City in the southeast, Jingdong Yi Autonomous County in the south, Midu County in the west, Xiangyun County and Yao'an County in the north. The county is 33 kilometers away from Chuxiong City, 192 kilometers away from Kunming City, and 175 kilometers away from Dali city.
Nanhua County is one of the key counties in the national poverty alleviation and development work, and also one of the 47 old revolutionary base counties in Yunnan during the war of liberation. On February 2, 2019, it was rated as the county-level advanced unit of Chinese medicine by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. On April 30, 2019, the people's Government of Yunnan Province decided to withdraw Nanhua County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.
Historical evolution
Nanhua County, Yizhou County in the Western Han Dynasty, Yizhou County in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Shu Han in the Three Kingdoms is the prefecture of Yunnan in Yizhou. in the Western Jin Dynasty, it was the Yunnan county of ningzhou; in the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the Southern Dynasties, it was the Xingning County of ningzhou; in the Northern Dynasties, it was Nanning. in the Sui Dynasty, it belonged to the general manager's office of Nanning Prefecture. At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, Qiuzhou was set up, which belonged to Rongzhou Dudu Fu at the beginning, and then to Yaozhou Dudu Fu at the end of the Tang Dynasty. In the Song Dynasty, Dali state was a stone drum, which belonged to Weichu Prefecture.
In the seventh year of Xianzong (1257) of the Yuan Dynasty, 1000 households were set up; in the twelfth year of Zhiyuan (1275), it was changed into zhennanzhou, which governed the present Shaqiao town and belonged to Weichu Road, and two counties, Dingbian and shigu, were set up, which belonged to zhennanzhou; in the 24th year of Zhiyuan (1287), Dingbian and shigu provinces entered zhennanzhou as townships. in the Ming Dynasty, it was Zhennan Prefecture, which was moved to Longchuan town today, belonging to Chuxiong Prefecture. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was Zhennan Prefecture under the system of Ming Dynasty, and was subordinate to Chuxiong Prefecture. In July 1730, the eighth year of Yongzheng reign, Chuxiong Prefecture belonged to yixidao Prefecture.
In April 1913, yixidao was changed to dianxidao, and zhennanzhou was changed to Zhennan County, belonging to dianxidao; in June 1914, dianxidao was changed to Tengyue Dao (in Tengchong County), belonging to Zhennan County; in 1929, Tengyue Dao was abolished, directly under Yao'an County; in 1946, it belonged to the eighth administrative supervision district (in Yao'an County).
In 1950, Zhennan County belonged to Chuxiong Prefecture; on June 30, 1954, it was renamed Nanhua County; in October 1957, Nanhua County belonged to Chuxiong Prefecture; in September 1960, Nanhua County was abolished and the former administrative region of Nanhua County was merged into Chuxiong County; in March 1962, Nanhua County was restored and the former administrative region of Nanhua County merged into Chuxiong county was the administrative region of Nanhua County.
