Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County (hereinafter referred to as Daozhen county) is an Autonomous County under the jurisdiction of Zunyi City, named after the Han Dynasty scholar Yin Daozhen.
Daozhen county is located in the northernmost part of Guizhou Province, which is the slope zone from Yunnan Guizhou Plateau to Sichuan Basin. It is adjacent to Nanchuan District, Wulong district and Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County of Chongqing in the northwest and northeast, and Zheng'an county and Wuchuan Gelao and Miao Autonomous County in the southwest and Southeast. It is 180 km away from Zunyi City in the south, 338 km away from Guiyang City in the north, and 160 km away from Chongqing City in the north. It is the "junction" between central Guizhou Economic Zone and Chengdu Chongqing Economic Zone, and the bridgehead of Guizhou Chongqing open cooperation.
By the end of 2017, 1 counties, 11 towns, 2 townships and 1 ethnic townships were in charge of Dao Zhen County, with 350 thousand and 900 registered residence population and 247 thousand and 300 permanent residents.
On April 24, 2019, the people's Government of Guizhou Province officially approved Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County to withdraw from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.
Historical evolution
Daozhen region, Qin Dynasty belongs to Bajun.
In the sixth year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (201), it was under the jurisdiction of Fuling County in Badong.
From the Three Kingdoms to the northern and Southern Dynasties, Shuhan belonged to Fuling County, Fuling County; after Yongjia of Jin Dynasty, Fuling county was "no barbarians"; to the fourth year of Baoding of Northern Zhou Dynasty (564), Fuling Aboriginal leader Tian Sihe "attached the land" and established Fengzhou; to the third year of Jiande (574), Fengzhou was changed to Qianzhou.

In the Tang Dynasty, Xinan county was changed into Xinning County in 619, Zhizhou in 622, Qili in Northeast China (now Jiangkou Town, Wulong County) in 630, Xinning County was changed into Qianzhou in 637, Zhenzhou in 642, Yelang in 742, and Zhenzhou in 758 In the third year of Yuanhe (808), Zhenzhou was abolished and Qinzhou was subordinate to the county.
In Song Dynasty, Tian Jingqian, the aboriginal leader, named Zhenzhou in 965, changed Zhenzhou to Gaozhou in 968, and later renamed xigaozhou, regained Zhenzhou in 1108, and lingleyuan, Suiyang and Zunyi in 1121. Today, Daozhen belongs to Leyuan County, and it was attached to Bozhou with Zhenzhou at the end of Xianchun.
In the Yuan Dynasty, in the 14th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1277), the chief of Zhenzhou, such as sining, was sued and still attached to Bozhou; in the 25th year of emperor Shundi Zhizheng (1365), the chief of Zhenzhou, such as sining, was changed to Zhenzhou.
In the Ming Dynasty, in 1384, Zhenzhou was changed into Zhenzhou chief secretary, which was subordinate to Xuanwei Department of Bozhou; in 1601, zhenanzhou was established as Zhenzhou chief secretary, which belongs to Zunyi military and civilian government, and is subordinate to Sichuan buzhengshi department, which governs Zhengan and Daozhen counties.
In the Qing Dynasty, zhenanzhou was changed to zhenganzhou in the second year of Yongzheng (1724); in the sixth year of Yongzheng (1728), Zunyi Prefecture was changed to Guizhou.
In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Anzhou was changed into Zheng'an County, which governs today's Daozhen county. In July of the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), Daozhen county was set up in the northeast of Zheng'an county to commemorate Yin Zhen, a scholar of the Han Dynasty, who ruled tuxi town.
In December 1949, the people's Government of Daozhen county was established, under the jurisdiction of Zunyi District, Guizhou Province.
In December 1958, the county was withdrawn and merged into Zheng'an County; in August 1961, Daozhen county was restored.
In November 1987, Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County was established.

Up to 2012, there are nearly 20 kinds of mineral deposits in Daozhen County, including coal, oil shale, aluminum, iron, lead, zinc, silver, gypsum and calcite. Among them, coal reserves are 116 million tons, one of the four major coalfields in Zunyi; pyrite reserves are 200 million tons; iron ore reserves are 80 million tons; bauxite reserves are more than 100 million tons.

As of 2014, there are more than 400 species of terrestrial vertebrates in Daozhen County, including 4 species of national first-class protected wild animals such as black leaf monkey, forest musk deer, leopard and clouded leopard, and more than 30 species of national second-class protected wild animals such as macaque, Tibetan chieftain monkey, big civet, pangolin and red bellied Caragana.
There are more than 100 species of wild plants in Daozhen County, including more than 30 species of national first and second level key protected plants, such as Cathaya argyrophylla, Davidia involucrata, Ginkgo biloba, Taxus chinensis, Taxodium chinense, Cinnamomum camphora, Machilus emblica, etc.
