Lubei District Lubei District, subordinate to Tangshan City, Hebei Province, is the central city of Tangshan, the seat of Tangshan Municipal Party committee and Tangshan Municipal People's government. It is located in the east of Hebei Province, the north half of the Central District, adjacent to Beijing and Tianjin. The total area is 176 square kilometers. In 1963, Lushan District and Hebin District merged to form Lubei District.

Historical evolution
The name of Lubei District first appeared in the period of Anti Japanese war. The Anti Japanese army and people in Eastern Hebei built Jingdong special zone and Jire border region in the north and south of Nanshan railway. As the border region of Hebei Province is located in the north of Jingshan railway, it is used to be called Lubei District.

In 1877, jiankaiping Mining Bureau opened a mine in Qiaotun (today's Kailuan Tangshan mine). With the increasing population and prosperous merchants, Qiaotun town was built. Later, it was renamed Tangshan town because of the existence of Tangshan (now Dachengshan) in the north of the town, belonging to luanzhou.
