Yunyan District, located in the north of the North-South "boat shaped basin" of Guiyang City, is located in the north half of Guiyang City, 106 ° 29 ′ ~ 47 ′ E and 26 ° 33 ′ ~ 41 ′ n, bordering Wudang district and guanshanhu District in the East, West and North, Nanming District in the South and Baiyun District in the northwest. It is 17.5km long from east to west, 12.5km wide from north to south, covering an area of 9.5km 57 square kilometers, with a total population of 950000 (2012). Yunyan District is one of the downtown areas of Guiyang, the main part of the old city of Guiyang, and the resident area of Guizhou Provincial People's government.
The famous scenic spots in the territory are Qianling Park and monument to the martyrs of the Anti Japanese war.

History of construction
Yunyan District territory, yuan to Yuan 19 years (1282) set up Shunyuan road military and civilian Xuanwei department, belongs to Huguang province. In the 29th year of the Zhiyuan Dynasty (1292), it was changed into the Marshal's office of Xuanwei department in Bafan Shunyuan and other places. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, it was reduced to the people's comfort Department of Shunyuan road army, which is under its jurisdiction.
Ming Hongwu four years (1371) set up Xuanwei Department of Guizhou, subordinate to Sichuan Province. In 1413, it was transferred to Guizhou Province. This district is under its jurisdiction. In 1568, chengfanfu was transferred to the provincial capital, and in 1569, chengfanfu was changed to Guiyang, which is now attached to the city. In the 14th year of Wanli (1586) of Ming Dynasty, Xingui county was set up, and the present district is its subsidiary state. In the 29th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1601), Guiyang government was promoted to Guiyang military and civilian government, and its jurisdiction included the present district.
In the 26th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1687), Guizhou avant-garde was eliminated and Guizhu county was set up. Guizhu county had jurisdiction over 9 li. Among them, hongbianli, xishangli and nanyuli are located in the present dolomite area. In October of 1749, Guiyang government took charge of eight guarantors. Among them, the northeast and northwest guarantors in the inner city and the southwest, Southeast, northeast and northwest guarantors in the outer city were mostly located in today's Yunyan area. In August of the 46th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (September 1781), the new town outside the north gate of Guizhu county (north of today's fountain) became more and more prosperous. Merchants gathered and ordered the county magistrate of Guizhu to move to the new town and inspect it nearby. On the fourth day of November in the third year of Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty (1911), Guizhou recovered and established the Guizhou military government, which was later changed to the Guizhou Provincial Office. The address of the government has always been in the guishanyuan community of the present provincial government road.
In January 1914, Guiyang Prefecture was changed into Guiyang County. In August of the same year, Guizhou was divided into central Guizhou, western Guizhou and Zhenyuan. Guiyang County is under the jurisdiction of Central Guizhou, and the present district is under the jurisdiction of Guiyang County. In the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), Qianzhong road was abolished, and Guiyang County was directly under the provincial government. Guiyang city was formally established on July 1, 1941. At the beginning of its establishment, Guiyang city still followed the old system. Urban public security was managed by the police station, which had five branches. The police branch had administrative powers, under which there were joint guarantees, and under which there were Bao and Jia. At that time, the first police branch was in Zhonghua North Road, the second police branch was in Zhonghua Middle Road, and the third police branch was in Gongyuan North Road. In the spring of 1943, with the approval of the Guizhou provincial government, the original 22 joint guarantees under the jurisdiction of five police sub bureaus were changed into 20 towns, and the town offices were established in each town. Among these 20 towns, Yuxiu town and other 13 towns are located in this district. In November 1944, 20 towns of Guiyang city were abolished and 9 districts were established. There were no townships or towns under the district level regime, and the district office was directly responsible for the management and protection. This establishment remained unchanged until the liberation of Guiyang in November 1949.
Guiyang was liberated on November 15, 1949. On November 22, the military control commission of Guiyang city sent military representatives to take over the No.1, No.2, No.3, No.7 and No.9 district offices of Guiyang City, which are subordinate to today's Yunyan District.
In May 1950, the original nine districts were divided into seven districts.
In August 1952, the jurisdiction of the five to seven districts in the suburbs of Guiyang was further divided into five townships and 36 administrative villages.
In June 1953, five townships in the suburbs were changed into seven townships and eight offices.
In 1954, Guizhu county was transferred to Guiyang City, where pianpo, Yaguan and Yu'an were originally designated as townships. Dazhangji, xiaozhaiji, Jianshui, Shibei village, Dawa and qiaoxia villages are classified as Dawa township; Qianling, Xiangshi, Touqiao, Zhongzhai and huangnitian villages are classified as Touqiao township; Dongshan area is classified as Dongshan Township.
In 1954, eight streets in the suburbs of Guiyang were divided into two urban areas.
In August 1955, the first district of Guiyang city was renamed Yunyan District, and the second district was renamed rich water district.
In August 1982, Yunyan District governed 14 streets and Qianling commune.
In June 1984, Qianling people's commune was abolished and Qianling township was established.
In January 1989, Zhaiji street was set up in Guiwu Road, Beijing Road Street, dazhangji and xiaozhaiji of Qianling township (banbian street of Guiwu road in the East, Yanwu street in the south, Yaguan and Nanya road in the west, Machong area in the North).
In April 2000, Qianling township was abolished and Qianling town was established. Yunyan District has 15 sub district offices and 1 town.
In 2001, the district has jurisdiction over 15 streets, 1 town, 112 communities and 13 villages.
In 2009, there were 18 streets, 1 town, 134 communities and 19 villages in the district.
In 2012, there were 1 town and 26 communities in the district.
In January 2020, 27 community service centers including Dongshan, Shixi, Yanzhong, Jinhui, Caiguan, Jinguan, Putian, Jinya, Hetang, Qiandong, Shengquan, Beijing Road, Qixia, Zhongdong, Zhonghua, Sanqiao, provincial government, Zhaiji, Jinlong, Touqiao, Zhongtian, Jinshi, Guiwu, Zhonghuan, Putuo, Weiqing and Shuidong will be abolished, and Shuidong Road, Yu'an, Daying Road, Qianling road and Wenchang Road will be established There are 17 sub district offices, including Jiange sub district office, Yanwu sub district office, Putuo sub district office, bageyan sub district office, Yuxiu sub district office, weiqingmen sub district office, shixihe sub district office, Touqiao sub district office, Sanqiao sub district office, Mawang sub district office, Jinguan sub district office, Chayuan sub district office and Yanghui sub district office.
