Xingshan County Xingshan County belongs to Yichang City, Hubei Province. It is named after "all mountains surround the city, and county governance rises among the mountains". As of October 5, 2018, the land area is 2327 square kilometers, which governs 96 villages (residences) in 6 towns and 2 townships, with a total population of 170600. The county government is located in Gufu town.
Xingshan County is the hometown of Princess Zhaojun of the Han and Ming Dynasties. It was built in the third year of Yongan (260) of Emperor Wu Jing. In August 1949, Xingshan County was located in Yichang, Hubei Province. On July 6, 1992, the county was under the jurisdiction of Yichang city.
The geomorphic structure of the whole county is "eight parts of the mountain and one part of the field", with per capita cultivated land of 1.08 mu. There are four natural resources: water energy, mineral resources, forest and tourism. Shanghai Chengdu beiyiba Expressway and Shiyi railway all pass through the county. Xingshan station is set up here for Zhengzhou Wanzhou high speed railway. Xingshan general airport is under planning and construction.
In 2017, Xingshan County achieved a local public budget revenue of 743 million yuan, and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 26700 yuan and 11300 yuan respectively. The urban ambient air quality ranked second in the city, and the people's sense of security ranked first in the province. In 2018, the national health county (township) was reconfirmed. On April 29, 2019, the people's Government of Hubei Province decided to withdraw Xingshan County from the poverty-stricken county.
Evolution of organizational system
The former was the first feudal land of Chu.
In Han Dynasty, it belonged to Zigui of Nanjun.
In the third year of Yong'an (260 A.D.) of Emperor Wu Jing of the Three Kingdoms, Xingshan County was established in the north of Zigui, belonging to Jianping County.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Changning County was set up in 577, and Xingshan County was merged into Changning County, belonging to Zigui County.
In the Sui Dynasty, in the first year of kaihuang (581), Changning was changed to Zigui, and Xingshan returned to Zigui, belonging to Badong County.
In the Tang Dynasty, in 620, Xingshan County was restored to Guizhou. Tianbao early years (about 742 years), belong to Badong County. In the early years of the Qianyuan Dynasty (758), it returned to Guizhou and belonged to Shannan Dongdao.
Five Dynasties and ten States belong to Guizhou.
In the Song Dynasty, Xining (1072) changed Xingshan County into Xingshan town and merged into Guizhou. In the early years of Yuanyou (1086), Xingshan County was restored and subordinate to Jinghu North Road. Jianyan two years (1128) is Kuizhou road.
Yuan Dynasty, to the 16th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1279) belongs to Guizhou, subordinate to Huguang xingzhongshu province.
Ming Dynasty, Hongwu nine years (1376) belongs to Yiling state. In 1444, Xingshan was incorporated into Guizhou. Hongzhi three years (1490) restoration of Xingshan County, under the Guizhou.
In the Qing Dynasty, it was still under Guizhou. In 1735, Guizhou was changed into Yichang Prefecture, and Xingshan County was under Yichang Prefecture.
From 1912 to 1924, Xingshan County was subordinate to Jingnan road and then changed to Jingyi road. From 1932 to 1935, Xingshan County was the ninth administrative supervision district of Hubei Province. From 1936 to 1949, Xingshan County was the sixth administrative supervision district of Hubei Province.
In August 1949, Xingshan County belonged to Yichang area of Hubei Province, and in March 1992, it belonged to Yichang municipal people's government.

Division evolution
On January 5, 2001, Xingshan County was merged from 7 towns and 6 townships into 6 towns and 2 townships. Except for Gaoyang town and Gaoqiao Town, other townships were adjusted: Gaolan Town, jianyangping Town, Xiangping Town, Pingshui town and Huoshiling town were abolished, and the administrative areas of Gaolan, jianyangping, Xiangping and Pingshui were assigned to Shuiyuesi Town, Xiakou Town, Nanyang town and Gufu town in turn. The new township governments were stationed in Shuiyue temple, daxiakou, Nanyang River and fuziyan. The original 14 villages in Huoshiling Township belong to Huangliang town and Zhenzi town respectively.
In 2002, Xingshan County People's government moved from Gaoyang town to Gufu town. By the end of 2004, Xingshan County had jurisdiction over Gufu, Gaoyang, Xiakou, Nanyang, Huangliang, six towns of Shuiyuesi, two townships of Gaoqiao and Zhenzi, 12 neighborhood committees and 102 village committees.
In 2009, Gaoyang Town, Xingshan County, Hubei Province held the unveiling ceremony of changing its name to Zhaojun town.
On March 6, 2019, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of culture and tourism, and the State Administration of cultural relics confirmed the list of the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. Xingshan County is the western part of Hunan and Hubei.

Xingshan County is located in the west of Hubei Province, on the north side of Xiling Gorge of Yangtze River, between Wushan mountain and Jingshan mountain. It spans 110.25 ′~ 111.06 ′ E and 31.04 ′~ 31.34 ′ n, 138 km away from Yichang central district and 438 km away from Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province.
Xingshan County is adjacent to Yiling District of Yichang City in the East, Zigui County in the south, Badong County in the West and Shennongjia forest region in the north. The county is 66 kilometers long from east to west and 54 kilometers wide from north to south, covering an area of 2327 square kilometers.

Granite, dolomite, limestone, slate and brick shale have a potential ore reserve of more than 1 billion tons in Xingshan County. The Wawu phosphate ore belt in xianjiahe county is 28 km long and covers an area of more than 120 square kilometers. The maximum thickness of the ore bed is 15.1 m and the average recoverable thickness is 6.5 M. the highest grade of the ore contains 35.1% of phosphorus pentoxide and the average grade is 24.2%. The geological exploration reserves are 65.147 million tons, which are proved in China It is one of the three major phosphate deposits. Baiguoyuan silver bauxite deposit in Shuiyuesi town has a total geological reserve of 58.518 million tons, including 23.402 million tons of bauxite, 23.193 million tons of silver and 11.923 million tons of associated selenium, which is the largest deposit in Asia.
Water resources
The annual average water yield of surface runoff in Xingshan County is 2.096 billion cubic meters, the natural slope of the river is large, and the vertical elevation difference is 2317.4 meters. The theoretical reserves of hydropower in the county are 318200 kW, and the exploitable capacity is 242400 kW. By the beginning of 2018, 71 hydropower stations have been built in Renping County, with 153 installed units and a capacity of 195500 kW, accounting for 80.6% of the county's exploitable capacity. Renping has an installed capacity of 1.1 kW and an annual power generation of 630 million kwh.
