Xide County is subordinate to Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. Its geographical coordinates are 102 ° 42 ′ E and 28 ° 32 ′ n. It is located in the southwest of Sichuan Province, in the middle and north of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, bordering Yuexi in the north, Zhaojue in the East and Southeast, Mianning County and Xichang City in the West and southwest, 78 km from Xichang City in the South and 483 km from Chengdu City in the north. Xide County is 70.8 kilometers long from north to South and 59.5 kilometers wide from east to west, covering an area of 2200.4 square kilometers, equivalent to 3300600 mu.

There are Yi, Tibetan, Qiang, Miao, Hui, Mongolian, Tujia, Susu, man, Yao, Dong, Naxi, Buyi, Bai, Zhuang and Dai nationalities in Xide County.

By the end of 2018, the total number of households in Xide County was 67135, with a total population of 226736, a rural population of 195909 and an urban population of 30827; the minority population was 207821, accounting for 91.66% of the total population; the Yi population was 207452, accounting for 91.49% of the total population.

In 570, the fifth year of Tianhe, Emperor Wu of the Northern Dynasty, general ZHENG Ke pacified the tribes. Yuelei county was renamed Xining Prefecture, and Xuanfu was called Yanzhou. In the third year of Tang Xianheng (672), in order to deal with Tubo and Nanzhao, military strongholds were successively set up in Xuzhou. The big one was called army, the small one was called city and town. Today, there is Luoshan city in Mianshan.

On the afternoon of August 3, 1267, the fourth year of the Yuan Dynasty, he ordered kengmian to march to the East and West Mountains of Lugu to establish his capital (actually Jiandi, the chief of Luolan tribe of the fan nationality living in the present-day Xide).

In the second year of Chenghua of Ming Dynasty (1466), the Sanguan, Erying and Qibao of ningfan garrison were built. Mianshan camp moved to tongcaoeai (now Mianshan town). There were guerrilla department, Mianning camp garrison department and Mianshan garrison department. To be, shoubei and ganzong moved to Tongcao pass. In 1621, Qianxian county (ganxiangying) began to form a temporary garrison.

In the 22nd year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1683), one guerrilla guard, one Chinese garrison and two thousand general guards were transferred from Jianchang town. The four general guards, Ma Sanbu and seven half battle guards were stationed at Mianshan to reinforce the Earth City, which was renamed Mianshan camp. In 1913, Gan Xiangying set up the League Affairs Bureau and organized League training.

In 1930, it changed to a new county system, changed the county magistrate to the county magistrate, abolished six houses, set up the Public Security Bureau, Finance Bureau, construction branch and security corps, abolished the 7R of Mianshan County, and implemented the Baojia system.

In July 1938, Ningdong Administrative Bureau was established. The Bureau was located in Mishi (today's Mishi town). It was first under the jurisdiction of the 18th administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province, and then under the jurisdiction of the reclamation Committee of Ningdong.

On August 12, 1952, Xide County construction working group was established in Xichang. Luo Zhenghong served as the head of the group and led the members to settle in ganxiangying (today's county) on August 17 to prepare for the construction of Xide County. On the 13th, the people's Government of Xikang province reported to the Government Affairs Council of the Central People's government for approval that "Xichang County, Hongmao Magu Yi Autonomous Region; Mianning County, the fourth district (Jingyuan District), is under the management of Xide County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Region.". The administrative organs, cadres, finance and local armed forces under the jurisdiction of the original unit will not be moved, and all the organs under the jurisdiction of the original district will be transferred to the jurisdiction of Xide County.

In November 2020, Sichuan Provincial People's government decided to withdraw Xide County from poverty-stricken county.

From 1953 to 1957, Xiangrong, hongma, Baoge, Nibo, Mishi, Guangming, Mianshan, LAK, BOLUO, Shengou, ZEMO, heboluo, Sanhe, Taoyuan, Luji, Zhongxin, Beishan, Hongmao, Lizi, Xihe, Baoge, erbudi, Xinjian, bajiu, Nibo, Muzhi, lapu, nidi, Yiluo, Luoguo, moseida, Mishi, and ESHI are under the jurisdiction of the county Nilogu and other 28 townships.

In 1958, the people's commune was set up on a trial basis, and a major adjustment was made to the district and township division of the whole county. Some districts and townships were withdrawn and merged to establish people's communes. After the adjustment, Guangming and Nibo communes were set up in the whole county, including hongma, Mishi and Baoge, and Taoyuan, Lizi, Beishan, Donghe, Xihe, Ruji, Heping, Jiefang, waguo, ernilogu, nidi, Mishi, Baoge, erbudi and bajiu.

From 1960 to 1979, the county's district and township system underwent eight adjustments.

From 1980 to 1991, there was no major adjustment in the county's district township system (Guangming township was changed to Guangming town in 1984), with a total of 5 districts, 1 town and 31 townships under its jurisdiction.

In 1992, according to the unified plan of the provincial and prefectural Township Institutional Reform, the county's district and township divisions were adjusted again. The five districts of Xiangrong, Hongmo, Lianghekou, Mishi and Nibo were abolished, and 32 townships were merged into 13 townships, namely, 7 towns of Hongmo, Mianshan, Guangming, Lianghekou, Nibo, Mishi and luoha, and 7 towns of Donghe, Lizi, lakk, heboluo and Qie There are six townships in Tuo and bajiu. In September 1994, with the approval of the provincial and prefectural people's governments, the organizational system of seven townships, namely Beishan, Xihe, Luji, shamalada, Yiluo, rekeyida and Lewu, was restored, with 20 townships under the jurisdiction of the county.

On January 12, 2021, according to the reply of Sichuan Provincial People's Government on approving Liangshan Prefecture to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in Puge county and other seven counties (cfgm [2021] No. 1), Xide County adjusted some administrative divisions of towns and townships.

Xide County is located in the southwest mountainous area of Sichuan Basin and the north central part of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.
