Yucheng District belongs to Ya'an City, Sichuan Province. It is located in the western edge of Sichuan Basin, the eastern foot of Qionglai, the middle reaches of Qingyi River, and the transition zone from Chengdu plain to Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It is named after "Xishu Tianlou" and is known as "throat of Western Sichuan", "gateway of Tibet" and "ethnic corridor". It is located at 102 ° 51 ′ ~ 103 ° 12 ′ e, 29 ° 40 ′ ~ 30 ° 14 ′ n, 34 km wide from east to west and 63 km long from north to south. The terrain is strip-shaped from north to south, high in southwest and low in Northeast. Covering an area of 1067 square kilometers, the region is the only "ecological climate city in China".
Yucheng District, once the capital of Xikang province and the seat of Ya'an municipal Party committee and government, is located at the gateway of Sichuan and Tibet, guarding the key pass of Sichuan and Yunnan. It is named "Yucheng" because of its abundant rainfall.
On March 31, 2020, Yucheng District will be selected as the advanced county (city, district) of Sichuan Province in rural reform in 2019.
Historical evolution
Yucheng District was once called Ya'an City and Ya'an County before it was built. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Ya'an City with a long history, rich resources, beautiful environment and simple customs. The Neolithic site unearthed from Shaxi village in the urban area shows that the ancestors had been living here as early as before the Neolithic period.
Yucheng District belonged to "Liangzhou" and "Qingyi Qiang state" in ancient times. Qin and Han belong to Yandao and Qingyi, and Eastern Han set up Hanjia county.
In 553, the second year of the abolition of the emperor of the Western Wei Dynasty, Shiyang county was set up, which was the beginning of Ya'an county's construction and the governing post of Mengshan county.
In the Sui Dynasty, Yazhou was set up, and then Yandao county was changed into a prefecture and a county.
During the reign of emperor Zhenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty (l008-1016), Yandao county was moved to the foot of cangping mountain (now Xicheng city).
Ming Li Shaanxi Province, Ming Hongwu year (1368), began to build stone city.
In 1729, Ya'an county was established under the name of Ya'an mountain (also known as Yuexin mountain, now cangping mountain), and it was the capital of Ya'an Prefecture.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the prefectures were left in counties. Jianchang road before the Li, after the 17th administrative supervision area of Sichuan Province, referred to as ya.
Xikang province was established in 1939 and Ya'an county was subordinate to it.
In February 1950, the people's Government of Ya'an county was established, and the Ya'an special zone was established in the same month.

In August 1951, Ya'an City was set up in Chengxiang District of Ya'an County, Xiaolian (now Yaoqiao New District), the first, second, third and fourth guarantees of Hebei Township, Shangba, Zhongba, Xiaba and Zhangjiashan of cailong Township, and the eighth guarantee of Yanxiang township. At that time, Ya'an became the seat of provincial, municipal and county governments.
In October 1955, Xikang province was abolished and merged into Sichuan Province. Ya'an City and county coexisted. Ya'an City was directly under the Sichuan provincial government, and Ya'an county was under the Ya'an special office. In March 1959, the provincial Ya'an City was removed and merged into Ya'an county.
In September 1983, Ya'an county was removed and Ya'an City (county level) was established.
In 1988, it was listed as an open city by the state and a Sustainable Development Experimental Zone by the province.
In July 2000, Ya'an prefecture level city was established.
On November 23, 2000, Ya'an City, formerly at the county level, was renamed Yucheng District. Its zoning remains unchanged. The district government is located at No. 387 Yazhou Avenue. It is a famous historical and cultural city and a new tourist city in Sichuan Province.

The terrain of the whole region is high in the West and low in the East. It is located in the north slope of Daxiangling, the branch of Erlang Mountain in Qionglai mountains. It is a middle low mountain area. Mountainous areas account for 91% of the total area of the region, of which 45% are low mountains below 1000 meters above sea level and 46% are middle mountains above 1000 meters above sea level. Flat land accounts for 9%, mainly Valley terraces and Intermountain basins. The middle mountains are mainly distributed in the northwest, southwest and Southeast, and the low mountains are mainly distributed in the middle and both sides of the north and South valleys.
Ma'er mountain, at the junction of Yingjing County and southwest China, is 2629.4 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in the region; Guizhu, a small island in the river at the intersection of Qingyi River and Gaoqiang River, is 515.97 meters above sea level, which is the lowest point in the region, with an altitude difference of 2113.43 meters. The mountains (mountains) in the territory are located in the north, which is the remnant of the southwest of Qionglai mountain system, trending from northeast to southwest. The main mountains are Luosheng mountain and Mengding Mountain; the central and southern part is the continuation of the northwest of Emei Mountain system, trending close to North and South. Mengding Mountain, the main peak of 1456 meters above sea level, is located in the northeast and Mingshan County boundary line, NNE trend. Zhougong mountain, located in the southeast of the city, is 1744 meters above sea level, north-south. Luosheng mountain, with an average altitude of 1600 meters and the highest peak altitude of 1971 meters, is the boundary between Yucheng District and Lushan County, and the mountain is northeastward.
