Heshan City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a new industrial and mining city. It is located in the west of Laibin City, and is connected with Xingbin District in the southeast and West. Heshan has convenient transportation. National Highway 322, Nanliu second class highway runs through the north and south of the city, and is more than 50 kilometers away from Nanliu Expressway in the East. The railway connects with Hunan Guangxi railway trunk line, and shipping can reach Guigang, Wuzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao.
Heshan City was successively awarded the title of "top ten counties (cities) for economic development in Guangxi" in 2003 and 2005, and entered the ranks of "100 counties and cities with the fastest speed of improving the basic competitiveness of county economy in China" in 2004. In March 2009, Heshan City was listed as one of the second batch of 32 resource exhausted cities by the State Council. After the transformation, it has been strongly supported by all levels of government funds and projects, and has been granted the qualification of national mine park by the Ministry of land and resources. Evolution of organizational system

In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Heshan still changed its membership with Qianjiang county. In 1950, it was subordinate to Wuming district. On January 25, 1951, it was subordinate to Nanning special district, and on August 10, it was subordinate to Binyang special district. In June 1952, the CPC Binyang Special District Committee orally announced that the five districts of Qianjiang county (including Heshan, the same below) belonged to Shanglin County, Binyang special district. In July, Qianjiang county was withdrawn and its administrative region was merged into Laibin county. In November, the five districts originally designated were also included in Laibin county. On June 29, 1981, the State Council approved the establishment of Heshan City. Heshan City is under the jurisdiction of Liuzhou District and officially opened its business on January 1, 1982.

According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Heshan City is 131249, including 38544 in Lingnan Town, 30059 in Beisi Township, 26088 in hehe Township and 36558 in Heshan Mining Bureau.

Heshan City is located on the Bank of Hongshui River in the hinterland of Central Guangxi, adjacent to Xingbin District of Laibin City in the East, West and south, Xincheng County in the north, 168 km away from Nanning City, the capital of the autonomous region, and 97 km away from Liuzhou City in the north. The total area of the city is 350 square kilometers.
The general trend of geomorphology is higher in the north, East and Southeast, basin in the middle and lower in the West and southwest. Geomorphology can be divided into dissolution type and tectonic denudation type.
The terrain of Heshan City is high in Northeast and low in southwest. The terrain belongs to limestone dissolution basin and hilly valley. There are two more than 90000 Mu peneplain in Heshan City. Most of the soil is the parent material of the fourth century laterite, and the soil is fertile.
Heshan City is a subtropical climate zone, with an average annual temperature of 20.6 ℃, frost free period of about 320 days, and annual rainfall of 1203.9-1719 mm.

The geological reserves of coal fields in Heshan City are about 700 million tons, accounting for one third of the coal reserves in Guangxi. The area of coal fields is more than 300 square kilometers, accounting for 73% of the total area of the city. Marble reserves of 16.49 million cubic meters, is one of the marble base in Central Guangxi. Limestone with more than 90% calcium carbonate is distributed in nearly ten thousand mu, and the whiteness of calcite is more than 90%. Heshan also contains the famous ma'anqi stone, which is mainly produced in Hongshui River. There are more than 30 kinds of Heshan stones with exquisite texture, high washing degree, peculiar shape, gorgeous color and skin like color ceramic glaze. Among them, green jade, color pottery, Yuanyang stone, gourd stone, Moore stone and other stones have high artistic appreciation and collection value. In July 2008, Heshan was awarded the title of "hometown of Chinese ornamental stones" by China Ornamental Stone Association.
