Zizhong County Zizhong County belongs to Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, formerly known as Zizhou. It is located in the middle of Sichuan Basin and the middle reaches of Tuojiang River. It spans 29 ° 34 ′~ 30 ° 24 ′ N and 104 ° 27 ′~ 105 ° 07 ′ e, adjacent to Anyue County and Dongxing District of Neijiang City in the East, Weiyuan County in the middle of Neijiang City in the south, Renshou County and Weiyuan County of Meishan City in the west, and Yanjiang District of Ziyang City in the north. It is 143 kilometers away from Chengdu and 197 kilometers away from Chongqing. It is one of the first 27 counties to expand power in Sichuan.
Zizhong County has an area of 1733.96 square kilometers, with 22 towns under its jurisdiction. The county seat is located in the middle of the Tuojiang River, so it is called Zizhong. It was built in the 6th year of Jianyuan (135 BC) of the Western Han Dynasty. In 1991, it was rated as Sichuan provincial historical and cultural city together with Langzhong and Bazhong. There are national historical and cultural town LUOQUAN ancient town, provincial historical and cultural town Tiefo ancient town, 2 national cultural relics protection units, 26 provincial protection units, 4 municipal protection units, 59 County protection units, chonglongshan Baiyunshan provincial scenic spot, Longjiang lake and other natural ecological resources. Historical evolution
In the spring and Autumn period, it was a dependency of the state of Ba.
During the Warring States period, it was a prefecture of Shu.
In the sixth year of Jianyuan (135 BC) of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, Zizhong County (now Ziyang City) was set up, belonging to Qianwei County of Yizhou.
In 553, the second year of the abolishment of the emperor of the Western Wei Dynasty, Zizhou was established, and its governance was located in Ziyang.
Panshi county was set up in Baoding middle of Northern Zhou Dynasty (561-565). The county is located at the two crossroads outside the north gate of Zizhong County.
In 587, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty moved Zizhou from Ziyang to Panshi county.
During Yizong of Tang Dynasty, Zizhou governed eight counties, namely, Panshi (now Zizhong), Ziyang, Qingxi, Neijiang, Yueshan, Longshui, Yinshan and Danshan.
In the fourth year of Hongwu (1371), Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, Jiangzi Prefecture was called Zixian County, belonging to Chengdu Prefecture.

In February 1950, Zizhong district changed its name to Neijiang District, and its administrative office moved to Neijiang. Zizhong County is subordinate to Neijiang District, Neijiang region and Neijiang City.
In 1991, Zizhong was approved as a provincial historical and cultural city by the provincial government.
