Wuhou District Wuhou District, under the jurisdiction of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, is the central urban area of Chengdu City. It is named after Wuhou Temple. Located in the southwest of Chengdu City, the terrain of the whole area is flat, slightly inclined from northwest to Southeast, butterfly shaped, subtropical warm monsoon climate. The total area is 76.36 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, there will be 1099100 permanent residents in the region.

Wuhou District is an important window for Chengdu's foreign economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchange. It has consulates in Germany and South Korea, and a city reception hall, Chengdu City Concert Hall, is located on the South Bank of Jinjiang River. Renmin South Road, which passes through the area under its jurisdiction, is the urban central axis connecting Tianfu Square, the core of Chengdu, and Chengdu Science City, the center of Tianfu new area. It is the main display area of Chengdu's urban image.

Historical evolution

Wuhou District is named after Wuhou Temple, which is famous both at home and abroad. The area under its jurisdiction is ancient Shu region.

It belonged to Shu County in Qin Dynasty and Chengdu County in Yizhou of Han Dynasty in Three Kingdoms.

In Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Huayang county and Shuangliu County of Yizhou.

Song, yuan, Ming, Qing and Republic of China belong to Chengdu Prefecture, Huayang county and Shuangliu County.

In the 1950s, it was divided into Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, suburbs, Shuangliu County and Huayang county. After the 1960s, it was divided into Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Jinniu District and Shuangliu County.

In September 1990, with the approval of the State Council, five urban districts were set up in Chengdu, including Jinjiang, Qingyang, Jinniu, Wuhou and Chenghua.

On January 1, 1991, Wuhou District officially opened its business.

Wuhou District is located in the southwest of Chengdu City, facing Jinjiang District across the river in the East, Qingyang District in the north, Shuangliu District in the southwest and high tech Zone in the southeast.
