Banan District Banan District is the main urban area and metropolitan area of Chongqing. It is located in the southwest of Chongqing. Its predecessor is Ba County, a famous city. Ba people established the capital here in Shang Dynasty. In December 1994, the county was removed and the district was established.

Historical evolution
From the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Warring States period, it belongs to the state of Ba. In the fifth year of King Shenliang of Zhou Dynasty (316 BC), Qin destroyed the state of Ba; in the first year of King Nan of Zhou Dynasty (314 BC), he was subordinate to Bajun.
In the southern and Northern Dynasties, Jiangzhou county was changed to Dianjiang County in the fifth year of Yongming in the Southern Qi Dynasty (487), and Dianjiang County was changed to Ba County in the third year of Wucheng in the Northern Zhou Dynasty (561), and Zhixian county was abandoned in Ba County, belonging to ba County of Chuzhou.

In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Baxian District of Eastern Sichuan administrative region, and then to Bishan district. In January 1951, it was changed to Chongqing City, in February 1953, it was assigned to Jiangjin District of Sichuan Province, and in November 1958, it was re attached to Chongqing city. Most of the strata exposed in the area are Triassic, Jurassic and Quaternary, with 14 formations. Ranjiawan, Huaguang village, maliuzui Town, on the northern edge, is 154 meters above sea level, which is the lowest point in the area. Fangdoushan, Shitan Town, on the southeast border, is 1132.60 meters above sea level, which is the highest point.
There are low mountain landforms between 500-1000 meters above sea level, which can be divided into anticlinal low mountain and synclinal low mountain according to their structures. Except for a few mountains with high altitude, there are generally low mountains below 1000 meters, including 11 mountains, including Yunzhuan mountain, Yanwei mountain, Qiaoping mountain, Baimiaozi mountain, Tianjingping mountain, taozidang mountain, Chaping mountain, Fengsheng mountain, yougou mountain, Taigong mountain and shilinggang mountain And mountains.
