Located in the Midwest of Zhejiang Province, Lanxi City, Lanxi, is located in the middle reaches of the Qian Tang river. The city is adjacent to Jindong District and Wucheng District of Jinhua City in the southeast, Longyou County in the southwest, Jiande City in the northwest, and Pujiang County and Yiwu City in the northeast. The water system in Lanxi City belongs to Qiantang River system, which is mainly composed of three rivers (Qujiang, Jinhua and Lanjiang) and five rivers (Meixi, Ganxi, Chixi, youbu and madaxi). Evolution of organizational system
Many Paleolithic sites and stone tools have been found in Lanxi, which indicates that as early as 7000 years ago, there were ancestors living on the land of Lanxi.
From the summer to the Zhou Dynasty, Lanxi was in Yue. It belonged to Yue State in the spring and Autumn period and Chu state in the Warring States period. The county system was practiced in Qin Dynasty, and Lanxi County was Wushang County of Kuaiji County, which was caused by the Western Han Dynasty.
In 1921, Changshan County was located in the southwest of Wushang County, and Lanxi County was located in Changshan County.
In the first year of Wu Baoding (266), Dongyang county was set up in Changshan, and Lanxi belonged to Changshan County.
In 598, Changshan was changed into Jinhua County, and Lanxi belonged to Jinhua County.
Lanxi County was built in the fifth year of Xianheng (674 A.D.), and it was upgraded to Lanxi state in the first year of Yuanzhen (1295 A.D.).
Dali thirteen years (778) was promoted to tight county.
In 1073, it was promoted to Wangxian county.
In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), it was promoted to be a state (a state without jurisdiction over counties) and still belonged to Wuzhou.
In 1370, the county was restored to Jinhua Prefecture. This is the cause of the Qing Dynasty.
In 1912, Lanxi was designated as a first-class county.
In 1914, Jinhua Road was set up in the abandoned government, which governed 19 counties of Jin, Qu and Yan, and Daoyin was stationed in Lanxi. In 1916, he moved to Quxian county.

In November 1949, Lanxi City (county level, the only one in Zhejiang Province) was set up in the urban area. The next year, the city was withdrawn and merged into the county, and lanchen was changed into Lanxi.
On May 15, 1985, the State Council approved the removal of Lanxi County and the establishment of Lanxi City (county level). Lanxi is the first county-level city in Zhejiang Province.

All rivers in the territory belong to the Qiantang River system. Qujiang River flows from west to East, Jinhua River flows from east to west into Lanxi City and forms Lanjiang River. Qujiang River is 23.3 km long, Jinhua River is 12.4 km long and Lanjiang River is 22.5 km long. Qujiang, Wujiang and Lanjiang have 13 first-class tributaries in the city, of which 5 have a rainfall collection area of more than 100 square kilometers: youbuxi, Chixi, madaxi, Ganxi and Meixi, commonly known as "Wuxi". The area of Lanjiang River Basin is 19467.5 square kilometers, including 18529 square kilometers above the "Sanjiangkou". At 20:15 on June 25, 2017, due to the rainstorm in Zhejiang Province, the water level of Lanxi station on Lanjiang River had a peak of 32.04m, which was the largest flood in Qiantang River Basin since the "June 21" catastrophic flood (33.49m) in 1955.
