The new urban area of Urumqi high tech Industrial Development Zone and the state-level Urumqi high tech Industrial Development Zone implement the system of "district government integration", which is subordinate to Urumqi city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Historical evolution

Urumqi, where the new urban area is located, has been inhabited by human beings since the Neolithic period.

In Han Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of the capital of the western regions and became an integral part of China. It was a nomadic land of ancient nationalities and an important section on the new North Road of the ancient Silk Road.

In the Tang Dynasty, the Tang army garrisoned on the banks of the Urumqi River. Now jiujiawan is an important garrison site at that time.

After quelling the rebellion in Junggar during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, he tuntian in Urumqi and built tuntian castle. After the adjustment, the new urban area has jurisdiction over 11 streets, 1 town, 4 townships, 24 villages and 84 communities; the administrative boundary between Urumqi county and Toutunhe district (North) has become the administrative boundary between the new urban area and Toutunhe District, and the administrative boundary between Urumqi county and Midong district has become the administrative boundary between the new urban area and Midong district.
