Pingxiang, a county-level city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is managed by Chongzuo city. It is located in the south of China and borders on Liangshan, Vietnam. It is known as the "south gate of the motherland". It is the international city closest to ASEAN countries in China. It has jurisdiction over four towns, covering an area of 650 square kilometers. By the end of 2015, the city's total population was 112530, with 116000 permanent residents, including 81300 urban residents.
Pingxiang City is 160 km (Expressway) away from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It borders Liangshan province of Vietnam on both sides of the southwest. The border line is 97 km long. There are two national first-class ports (highway) and Pingxiang Port (railway), one second-class port and five border trading points. It is the border with the largest number, the most complete variety and the largest scale of Guangxi ports Port city is the largest and most convenient land passage from China to Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In June 1992, it was approved by the State Council as a border open city.
In 2017, the city's GDP reached 7.639 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 13.2%; in August 2019, it was listed in Chongzuo area of China (Guangxi) pilot free trade zone.
In Pingxiang, there is friendship pass, one of the nine famous passes in China. Puzhai trade city and Nonghuai border trade point are the largest border trade points on the Sino Vietnamese border. Pingxiang has successively won the titles of "China's excellent tourism city", "national science popularization demonstration city", etc., and has been honored as "China's mahogany capital" and "China ASEAN mahogany furniture top".
In March 2019, it will be listed in the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On October 9, 2020, it was awarded the title of the fourth batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties by the Ministry of ecological environment.
Historical evolution
Qin belongs to Xiang county. In the early Han Dynasty, it belonged to Nanyue state, and after the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC), it belonged to Yongji County of Yulin County. The Three Kingdoms belong to Linchen County of wuyulin county. Jin belongs to Jinxing county. In Sui Dynasty, it belonged to Xuanhua County of Yulin County. Tang Dynasty belongs to Yongzhou Dudu mansion of Lingnan West Road.
Pingxiang cave was built in the fifth year of emperor you of Song Dynasty (1053), and it has been named Pingxiang since then. It belongs to Yongping village, Zuojiang Road, Yongzhou governor's mansion; it belongs to Siming road in Yuan Dynasty. In 1385, it was changed into Pingxiang Town, belonging to Taiping mansion. In 1404, it was changed into Pingxiang tuxian County, belonging to Siming Prefecture. In 1482, it was promoted to Pingxiang tuzhou, Zhili Guangxi chief secretary. In 1902, Pingxiang was replaced by Tanya, which was also managed by Mingjiang hall. In 1910, tuguiliu was replaced by Pingxiang hall, which was promoted to shituzhou, and belonged to Taiping Prefecture.
In January of the first year of the Republic of China (1912), according to the "provisional constitution of local officials in Guangxi" formulated by the Guangxi military government, the hall was removed and changed into a county, and Pingxiang hall was changed into Pingxiang county. In December of 2016, xiashixi tuzhou was transferred to Pingxiang county. In September of 19, Guangxi province began to establish the civil league system, and Pingxiang was under the jurisdiction of Longzhou civil League district. On May 1, 21, the Committee of Guangxi provincial government approved Pingxiang as a third class county. In March of 2002, Pingxiang county was reduced to the fifth grade according to the county grade standard approved by the 81st Committee of Guangxi provincial government. Pingxiang was listed as the fourth grade County in the table of Guangxi counties grades adopted at the 209th meeting of Guangxi Provincial Government Committee on February 26, 25. In October of 28, the committee meeting of Guangxi provincial government decided to divide the first to fifth grade counties into two levels: A and B, and Pingxiang County into three and B. Up to the eve of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Pingxiang county was under the jurisdiction of the seventh district.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it is still called Pingxiang county. In May 1951, Pingxiang, Mingjiang and Ningming were merged into Zhennan County by the order of Guangxi Province. In July 1952, Zhennan county and sile County merged into Ningming County, where Ningming County was governed. On July 12, 1955, the people's Committee of Guangxi Province reported to the State Council for the record and established Pingxiang town (county level), with the first district of Ningming County as its administrative region. On November 16, 1956, the State Council approved the transformation of Pingxiang town into a city, with the former Pingxiang town as its administrative region. On December 20, 1957, the 66th plenary session of the State Council approved that Pingxiang City, formerly Zhili Guixi Tong Autonomous Prefecture, should be under the jurisdiction of Yongning special district (later renamed Nanning special district). In December 1958, the people's Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region reported to the State Council for the record, abolishing the two counties of Longjin and Ningming and Pingxiang City, and merging to establish munan county with Pingxiang as its governing seat. On May 10, 1959, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region reported to the State Council for the record, abolished munan county and restored Ningming and Longjin counties. Pingxiang belongs to Ningming County, known as munan commune, and is still known as Pingxiang City, belonging to Nanning special area. On May 27, 1961, with the approval of the State Council, Pingxiang was separated from Ningming County to restore the county-level city. On October 16, 1966, pinger brigade of xialeng commune in Longzhou county was transferred to Pingxiang City. On January 21, 1981, with the approval of the State Council, Xiashi commune of Ningming County was transferred to Pingxiang City.
In November 2002, the State Council approved Pingxiang as a municipality directly under the central government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In January 2003, the autonomous region approved Chongzuo city to take charge of Pingxiang City.
In 1984, the commune was abolished and changed into a township. Three townships, 34 villagers' committees, one sub district office and six sub district residents' committees were established in the city. In 1996, Pingxiang city governed five towns: Pingxiang Town, Youyi Town, Baiyun Town, Shangshi town and Xiashi town.
According to the fifth census in 2000, Pingxiang has a total population of 107046. Among them, there are 46786 in Pingxiang Town, 11153 in Youyi Town, 11199 in Baiyun Town, 15999 in Shangshi town and 21909 in Xiashi town.
On January 26, 2003, the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region agreed to abolish the organizational system of Baiyun town and adjust the administrative divisions of Pingxiang town and Youyi town. The former Zhushan village of Baiyun town was put under the jurisdiction of Pingxiang town. The resident of Pingxiang town government was moved from No. 70 Pingshan road to No. 22 branch 3 of Beida Road (the former resident of Baiyun town government). The original Baiyun town of Yingyang, Sanlian, Songcheng, pinger, Jianglong five villages under the jurisdiction of friendship town. After the adjustment, Pingxiang has jurisdiction over four towns: Pingxiang, Youyi, Shangshi and Xiashi.

Pingxiang town (Pingxiang Zhen) is the residence of the municipal government. It has jurisdiction over five neighborhood committees in Pingshan, NANDA, Beida, Shizishan and Xinhua, and five village committees in liuban, Nanshan, Qianjin, Lianquan and Zhushan. Youyi Zhen governs seven village committees: Kafeng, Aikou, Licha, Nanshan, liuban, Zhaohua and Qianjin. There are Puzhai international business city, Nongyao China Vietnam border trade point.
Shangshi Zhen has nine village committees, namely, Shangshi, Lianjiang, banwang, Youai, Yan'an, Madong, Bailong, Xiaao and Pudong.
Baiyun Zhen governs eight village committees: Yingyang, Jianglong, Pingshan, Lianquan, Zhushan, Sanlian, pinger and Songcheng. There is a gold mine in longtangtun. In 1996, it was abolished and merged with Pingxiang town.
Xiashi Zhen has 10 village committees: Xiashi, Xinming, Nalou, Shaoping, Liuli, banren, Pumen, Baima, fengle and xiatong.
