Xilin County, belonging to Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of the people's Republic of China, is located in the westernmost part of Guangxi, at the junction of Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces (regions), connecting Tianlin County in the East, Longlin Autonomous County in the north, Xingyi City in Guizhou Province in the northwest, Luoping and Shizong counties in Yunnan Province, and Qiubei, Guangnan and Funing counties in Yunnan Province in the southwest. The county covers an area of 3019.58 square kilometers, accounting for 1.28% of the total area of Guangxi. The per capita land area is 37 mu, the total cultivated land area is 247900 mu, and the per capita cultivated land area is 1.97 mu. There are 4 towns, 4 townships (3 ethnic townships) and 94 villages and 3 communities in the county. In 2002, the total population was 127500, including 115600 agricultural population. There are 14 ethnic groups, including Zhuang, Han, Miao, Yao and so on. Ethnic minorities account for 90% of the county's population. Xilin County enjoys the treatment of Ethnic Autonomous County.
Xilin County is rich in tourism resources, including Wanfeng Lake, Tuoniang River, Gongbao mansion and many other scenic spots.
Xilin County is also known as the hometown of Shatangju in China. In addition, the Ma duck in Xilin is also well-known.
In March 2019, it was selected into the list of counties in the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization areas; on April 24, 2019, the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region approved Xilin County to get rid of poverty.
Evolution of organizational system
Xilin County has a long history, as early as tens of thousands of years ago in the early Paleolithic, there were human activities in Xilin County.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, the Xilin region formed the Fangguo gouting state on the basis of the tribal alliance, and it belonged to the gouting state of Qianzhong Prefecture in the Qin Dynasty.
In the Han Dynasty, it belonged to gouting county (state). The Three Kingdoms belonged to Cho county. Xiping County was established in the Southern Dynasty. In the Northern Dynasties, it belonged to Nanning Prefecture (which governs today's Qujing in Yunnan Province) and attached to the general manager's office of Nanning Prefecture.
The Tang Dynasty was led by Qianzhou. Song Huanghu four years (1052), set up the forest mountain cave.
In the seventh year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1409), the Chief Secretary of Shanglin was set up. In 1665, the name of Xilin County was changed and transferred to the county, and the name of Xilin County came from its place name.
In the Republic of China, Xilin County was set up along the line, which was successively subordinate to Youjiang Road, Tiannan Road (governing Baise), Baise regiment District, and Baise regional Commissioner's office.
In 1935, the administrative region of Xilin County was adjusted. Lucheng, Badu and Gongyang were designated as new Tianxi County, and Bada, Guzhang and mabeng were designated as Xilin County.
In March 1950, the people's Government of Xilin County was established (the county government is located in Ding'an).
After liberation (1951), the system of Xilin County was abolished in August, and four townships of Ding'an, zemiao, Gaojiao and Badu were merged into Tianlin County; seven townships of nalaoyanjie, Longtan, Xiping, Bada, Guzhang and mabeng were merged into Xilong County, and later renamed as Xilin Autonomous County.
In July 1961, with the approval of the people's Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Xilin County began to be separated from Longlin Autonomous County to restore its organizational system.
On May 20, 1963, the plenary session of the State Council approved the restoration of Xilin County, which has jurisdiction over six districts, namely Nazuo, nalao, Xiping, Bada, Guzhang and mabeng (later changed into commune), and the county people's Committee is located in bada.
In July 1984, the commune was divided into 2 towns and 9 townships, including Bada Town, Guzhang Town, mabeng Town, badahe Town, zhechang Town, Puhe Miao Township, nalao Township, zubie Yao Miao Township, Xiping Township, NongWang Township and Nazuo Miao township.
In June 2005, badahe township was merged into MaBang Township, zhezang Township into Guzhang Township, and NongWang Township into Nazuo Miao township.
On April 24, 2019, the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region agreed to lift 14 poverty-stricken counties out of poverty.

In 2003, Xilin County governs 2 towns, 6 townships and 3 ethnic townships: Bada Town, Guzhang Town, badahe Town, mabeng Town, zhechang Town, Puhe Miao Town, Xiping Town, NongWang Town, Nazuo Miao Town, nalao town and zubie Yao Miao Town.
In 2005, badahe township was merged into MaBang Township, zhezang Township into Guzhang Township, and NongWang Township into Nazuo township.
In 2013, nalao township was withdrawn to build a town.
On May 24, 2016, MaBang township was removed from the township and built into a town.
Xilin County has 93 villager committees and 753 villager groups in 4 towns and 4 townships, including Bada Town, Guzhang Town, nalao Town, MaBang Town, Xiping Township, Puhe Miao Township, zubie Yao Miao Township and Nazuo Miao township.

Xilin County is located in the westernmost part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at the junction of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces. With the development of mountains, there are three obvious river valleys: Tuoniang River, Guzhang River and Nazuo river.

Tushan accounts for 98% of the total area of the county, and the rest is limestone lava area. The average altitude is 890 meters. The highest point is located in Prince Hill, Guzhang Town, with an altitude of 1883.3 meters; the lowest point is located in the valley near daxiatun, Daxia village, Nazuo Township, with an altitude of 390 meters.

There are 5 soil types, including paddy soil, red soil, yellow soil, limestone soil and alluvial soil, 13 subtypes, 27 soil genera and 49 soil species. The paddy field mainly consists of sand and mud, and flood and sediment, and the soil area is 78%. * * is a slightly acidic soil. The dry land is mainly sandy yellow soil, accounting for 46.2% and 23.1% of dry forest wasteland respectively. The land area of the county is 302000 hectares, of which 207200 hectares are suitable for forest, 190700 hectares are suitable for forest, and the forest coverage rate is 72.2%. The forest coverage rate of the whole county was 39.34%. The annual forest timber volume is 7.5 million cubic meters, and the timber forest volume is 338900 cubic meters in 2010.
