Junshan District Junshan district is the municipal district of Yueyang City, Hunan Province. It is a new district approved by the State Council in March 1996. It is named after Junshan island.
Junshan district is located in the northeast of Dongting Lake, facing Jianli County of Hubei Province across the Yangtze River in the north, Huarong County in the west, and Dongting Lake in the East and south.
Junshan district's famous specialties include Junshan silver needle, Junshan Maojian, Dongting silver fish, etc.; scenic spots include Dongting Lake National Nature Reserve, Junshan Island, Junshan wild lotus world, etc.
In 2015, after the township division adjustment, Junshan district has jurisdiction over 4 towns and 1 street.
Evolution of organizational system
Junshan district is located in Jingzhou in Xia and Shang Dynasties.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to Chu.
In the Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Changsha County.
In the Sui Dynasty, the prefectures were abandoned as prefectures, successively as Bazhou and Yuezhou.
In the Song Dynasty, Yuezhou was changed into a pure state.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Yuezhou was changed to Yuezhou road in 1276.
In Ming Dynasty, it belonged to baling county. In the fourth year of Longqing (1564), hulou of Baling county was under the jurisdiction of the inspection department, which had jurisdiction over Xiaxu fishing Park and Pengshan fishing park; the land part belonged to Muhu village of Yanshou township. This kind of administrative construction of Township, village and fishing Park continued until the end of Qing Dynasty.
After the founding of the Republic of China, it belonged to Muhu village; in 1929, Yueyang County was divided into townships, and Junshan District belonged to Muhu town; in 1930, Yueyang County was divided into nine districts, and Junshan District belonged to the eighth district; in 1935, shuiyi township was established.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Junshan township was established in 1950; after the land reform review in 1952, Junshan township was divided into three townships: Longxin, Sanjiao and Junshan; in 1956, Longxin, Sanjiao and Junshan were merged into Junshan township; in August 1958, Junshan township was transformed into Junshan people's commune; in October 1958, the CPC Yueyang County Committee and government merged the whole Hexi area into Junshan township A large people's commune, still known as Junshan people's commune; in June 1959, Junshan commune was divided into two communes, the former guangxingzhou area was guangxingzhou commune, and the new reclamation area was Junshan commune; in April 1960, Junshan commune was transformed into "Yueyang County Local State-owned Junshan farm"; in April 1961, it was officially transformed into "Hunan Province state-owned Junshan farm"; on December 26, 1966, it was renamed "dongfanghongnong" On September 24, 1968, the original name of "state-owned Junshan farm" was restored.
Junshan district was established in March 1996 with the approval of the State Council, and merged with the former state-owned Junshan farm and Qianlianghu farm in November 1998 and September 2000.
On March 16, 1996, the State Council approved the establishment of Junshan District of Yueyang City (guohan No. 16). Junshan district has jurisdiction over three townships of liulinzhou, lingelao and Wuxing in the former suburbs and three towns of Cengshan, zhenxingbao and yinhuai in the former Huarong County. The district government is located in liulinzhou town. It is named after Junshan Island, a famous tourist resort in China and abroad. In the same year, guangxingzhou town and Xushi town of Yueyang County were put under the jurisdiction of Junshan district.
In November 1996, Junshan District of Yueyang City was established with Junshan farm as the main body, including the former state-owned Junshan farm, state-owned Qianlianghu farm, Jianxin farm, Junshan Park, and the former Xushi Town, guangxingzhou Town, guangxingzhou fishing ground, Tianjingshan forest farm of Yueyang County. The former towns and branches became the branches (towns) under the jurisdiction of Junshan district. There are 7 towns and 1 Township under the jurisdiction of the whole district: liulinzhou Town, lingelao Town, Cengshan Town, Yinbei Town, zhenxingbao Town, guangxingzhou Town, Xushi town and Wuxing township.
According to the fifth census in 2000, there are 207174 permanent residents in Junshan District, including 56057 in liulinzhou Town, 35193 in guangxingzhou Town, 28027 in Xushi Town, 78086 in Qianlianghu farm and 9811 in Jianxin farm.
In 2000, Junshan farm was removed and liulinzhou town was built; Qianlianghu farm was removed and Qianlianghu Town, xinxingpu town and caisanghu town were built and handed over to Junshan district. On September 11, Qianlianghu farm and Junshan District completed the merger and docking; at the end of October, Qianlianghu Town, zhenxingpu town and caisanghu town were established one after another. Subsequently, liulinzhou town and Xicheng office were established.
In 2001, some administrative divisions of Huarong County and Junshan district were adjusted, and Xicheng sub district office was newly established. So far, Junshan district has jurisdiction over one street and six towns: Xicheng street, liulinzhou Town, guangxingzhou Town, Xushi Town, Qianlianghu Town, xinxingpu town and caisanghu town. The district government is located in liulinzhou town.
By the end of 2002, Junshan district had a total area of 718 square kilometers and a total population of 222000, including 45000 non-agricultural population. It has jurisdiction over six towns (liulinzhou, Qianlianghu, caisanghu, zhenxingbao, Xushi, guangxingzhou), one street (Xicheng), one office, three small farms, 108 administrative villages and 11 neighborhood committees.

On November 20, 2015, the office of Hunan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs issued the reply of Hunan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs on Approving the adjustment plan of township zoning in Junshan District of Yueyang City (xmxf [2015] No. 59), which agreed to establish liulinzhou street by combining liulinzhou town with Xicheng street, and Qianlianghu town by combining Qianlianghu town with caisanghu town. It is agreed that there will be no adjustment in the administrative areas and the people's Government residences of the three towns. After the current round of township administrative division adjustment, Junshan District of Yueyang City has reduced the organizational system of two townships. It now governs four towns of Qianlianghu, xingxingbao, guangxingzhou and Xushi, and liulinzhou sub district office, with a total area of 627.90 square kilometers and a total population of 236300. The resident of the district people's government remains unchanged (the name of the resident is changed from liulinzhou town to liulinzhou sub district).

Junshan district is located in the northeast of Dongting Lake Plain, on the South Bank of jingjiangmen section in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is surrounded by water in the north, East and south, facing Jianli County of Hubei Province across the Yangtze River in the north, Huarong County in the west, and Dongting Lake in the East and south.

Junshan area is located in the northward opening of the horseshoe basin of Dongting Lake water system. From the inside to the outside, there are hills, low mountains, middle and high mountains. The terrain is from north to south, slightly lower from west to East, slightly inclined to the South and East Dongting Lake. The wetland in the area is a dish shaped basin with a slightly higher surrounding and a low level in the middle. The plane corridor is a polygon with a long east-west and a short South-North.

Junshan district is a typical subtropical monsoon climate zone with four distinct seasons. The annual sunshine hours are 1726.7 hours, the normal temperature is 16.8 ℃ and the average annual rainfall is 1417 mm.

The rivers and lakes in Junshan District belong to the Yangtze River system. Xiangjiang River, Zishui River, Yuanshui River and Lishui river flow into Dongting Lake. There are four types of wetlands: River, lake, swamp and constructed wetland. Among them, river accounts for 3550 hectares, Lake 12536.1 hectares, swamp 4238.8 hectares and constructed wetland 1562.2 hectares.
