Xuecheng District, located in the west of Zaozhuang City and the south of Shandong Province, is under the jurisdiction of Zaozhuang City. Its geographical coordinates are 117 ° 9 ′ 2 ″ e to 117 ° 28 ′ 41 ″ N and 34 ° 37 ′ 35 ″ n to 34 ° 56 ′ 38 ″ n. Xiazhuang stone carving and Luofang clay sculpture in Xuecheng district have a long history. They are the hometown of Suona, paper cutting, martial arts and mass culture.
History of construction
More than 4000 years ago, there were human beings living in Xuecheng, belonging to the Dongyi nationality. The Renxi clan, a branch of the Dongyi nationality, originated from the Xuehe and Panlonghe areas in the northern part of the area. On the Xigong mountain on the Hebei bank, there are the ruins of Xizhong's chariot making and the tomb of Xizhong, the first ancestor of the state of Xue. At the foot of the mountain, there are the ruins of Xiyi, the old capital of the state of Xue.
During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, Ren clan established a state in the area of Xue and PI, which was called Xue state or Pi state. Today, Xuecheng district was the hinterland of Xue state.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, the state of Xue fought for each other successively, and during that period, it belonged to the state of Qi for the longest time. Tian Ying and Tian Wen, the prime ministers of Qi, were granted the title of Xue Gong. During the period of governing Xue, Tian Wen built Xue City on a large scale, making it a big Oriental City with a circumference of 28 Li, second only to Linzi and Qufu, the capitals of Qi.
In Qin Dynasty, the system of prefecture and county was implemented in Qin Dynasty. Today, Xue county is located in the West and east of Xue County, and Qi county is located in the south of Sishui county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Xuecheng district is located in the west of Xuexian county and Guangqi County of Pei County in the state of Lu, and in the East and south of Xinyang County and Jianyang County in Donghai County.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xinyang and Jianyang counties were abolished. Today, the eastern and southern parts of Xuecheng District belong to Donghai County and Yinping county. In the west, it belongs to Xue County in the state of Lu and Guangqi County in the state of Pengcheng.
After the death of the Western Jin Dynasty, "Wuhu" had been fighting in northern China for a hundred years. Xuecheng district was successively occupied by the former Zhao (Xiongnu), the later Zhao (Jie), the former Yan (Xianbei), the former Qin (SHI), the later Yan and the Southern Yan (Xianbei). In the late Eastern Jin Dynasty, Nanyan was destroyed by Jin Dynasty, and the whole territory belonged to the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
In the southern and Northern Dynasties, Guangqi was abolished and incorporated into Liuxian in the Song Dynasty. Today, Xue City belongs to Xue county and Liu County in Pengcheng County of Song Dynasty in the west, and Lanling County in the East and south. From 467 to 550 A.D., the region was located in the West and south of Yongxing County and Xue County of the Northern Dynasty. In the late Northern and Southern Dynasties, Yongxing County was abolished in the Northern Qi Dynasty, and Xue county was merged into fan county. At that time, the territory of Xuecheng now belongs to fan County in the West and Cheng County in the East and south.
From the Sui Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, fan county was renamed tengyang and Tengxian, but now the territory of Xuecheng has been determined. From the Sui Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, except that qianluofang village in the middle of the Qing Dynasty belonged to Guangqi township of Pei County, Xuecheng now belongs to Teng and she counties.
From Qianlong to the end of the Qing Dynasty, the western part of the area belonged to Xiaoba, Xiaojiu, Dijiu, Dixi, Di12, di15 and di16 communities in Tengxian County; the western qianluofang village belonged to Guangqi Township in Peixian County; the eastern part belonged to chenshang, Chenxia, Xiangcheng, Yuli and Zunyi communities in Yi County; the southern part belonged to caoma, Nanchang, Liuzhuang and qinbu communities in Yi county.
In the seventh year of the Republic of China (1918), Teng and Yi counties changed their community name to District, and the situation of district was the same as that of community.
In the middle of the Republic of China, Teng County and Yi County were abandoned manufacturing and construction areas, townships and towns. Now Xuecheng district is located in the west of Teng County, which belongs to Xizhong township of the Second District, Huangdian township of the seventh district, Lincheng Township, Panlong Township, Baishan Township, Linshan Township and Shagou township of the eighth district. Qianluofang village in the West still belongs to Guangqi township of Pei county. The eastern part is zouwu Town, nanshaigou Town, Xuyou Township, Qingquan Township, Ganlin Township, Huangshi Township and Wuxue Township in the Second District of she county. The southern part is zhouying Town, Nanchang town, Beichang Township, Jinma Township, Changbu Township, Niushan Township, Anle Township, Duoyi Township and Longquan Township.
From August 1945 to October 1946, Xuecheng district was liberated. In the west, it belongs to the first, sixth, seventh and eighth districts of Lincheng County; in the south, it belongs to the Second District of Yi County; in the north, it belongs to the third district of Shuangshan county (later renamed Lushui county); in the south, it belongs to the Tenth District of Yi County; and in Lincheng, it belongs to the eighth District of Teng County.
From September 1946 to may 1947, Xuecheng district was occupied by Kuomintang troops. From May to November, 1948, Xuecheng district was liberated for the second time. In the west, it belonged to the first, fifth, sixth and eighth districts of Lincheng county. In the East, it belonged to the Second District of Yi County, the third district of Lushui county and the Taozhuang District of Zaozhuang office. In the south, it belonged to the fifth and seventh districts of Yi county.
In 1950, the joint defense system was abolished and townships and towns were established. Today, Xuecheng is located in the central and western parts of Lincheng County, which are Buling Township, dianzi Township, Jinhe Township and huanggouquan township. Five districts are adjacent to townships in the south, north, Zhangqiao Township, Changzhuang Township, Xiaozhuang Township, dongtuo Township, Gushan Township and Xingren township. In September 1952, Lincheng county was renamed Xuecheng county.
In March 1956, Xuecheng county was abolished, and now the north central part of Xuecheng is under Teng County. Now Xuecheng district is located in the west of Shagou Township, Changzhuang Township, Xingren Township, Jinhe Township, Xicang Township and Lincheng town of Lincheng District of Teng County, in the east of Chenhao Township, Zhangfan Township, zouwu Township, nanshaigou Township, Wuxue Township and Taozhuang town of zouwu District of she County, and in the south of zhouying Township, Nanchang Township, Duoyi Township and niushanhou township of zhouying District of she county.
From the end of 1957 to the spring of 1958, Teng and Yi counties abolished the district level system and changed small townships into big townships.
In 1958, the people's commune was established in autumn. Today, Xuecheng district is under tengyouyi (Lincheng) people's commune in the west, Hongxing (zouwu) people's commune in Yi County in the East and zhouying people's commune in Yi County in the south.
In January 1960, Yi county was renamed Zaozhuang City. In March, Lincheng commune was transferred to Zaozhuang City. In June, Xuecheng District of Zaozhuang City under the jurisdiction of the province was established.
On July 18, 2019, according to the reply of Shandong Provincial People's Government on agreeing to adjust some administrative divisions of Xuecheng District of Zaozhuang City, it is agreed to cancel Changzhuang town and set up Changzhuang sub district office in its original administrative region.

The basement is an ancient metamorphic rock of cryptozoic Archean (2.5 billion years ago), exposed to the east of zhouying Town, Taoguan Township, Nanchang Township, Changzhuang Township and Xingren Township, covering an area of about 30 square kilometers. The main rocks are granite, gneiss and mica schist, which are ancient crystalline basement. After strong folding activity, it uplifted into land.
