Liunan District, Liuzhou Municipal District of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Liuzhou city. The terrain is high in the West and low in the East, with a climate of early spring and late autumn, long summer and short winter. It covers a total area of 164.19 square kilometers and governs 3 towns and 8 streets. In 2017, it had a total population of 360700.
Liunan district is adjacent to Yufeng mountain in the East, Dalongtan in the South and GEE mountain and Wenbi peak in the West. There are the tomb of Liu Ben (B ē n), the official of Zuo Jianyi in Tang Dynasty, the compound of Liu family and the former residence of Hu Zhiming. Liuzhou railway station within the jurisdiction is an important railway hub connecting southwest with Central South, East China and South China. Xiang GUI, Qian GUI, Jiao Liu railways, Heng Liu high speed railway and Liunan passenger dedicated line (Liunan Intercity Railway) meet here. The main roads within the jurisdiction form a network with Nanliu, GUI Liu, Yi Liu and ring expressway.
In 2017, the GDP of Liunan District reached 70.104 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 262 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 49.06 billion yuan (47.261 billion yuan), and the added value of the tertiary industry was 20.782 billion yuan. On February 2, 2019, it was rated as the county-level advanced unit of Chinese medicine by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine.
Historical evolution
In September 1979, the urban area of Liuzhou city was abolished, and four urban areas, Liunan, Liubei, Yufeng and Chengzhong, were established respectively. Liunan district is composed of Nanzhan, Liunan commune and most of Liushi commune. At the same time, Liuzhou city set up Liunan District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Liunan District People's Government in Liunan district.
In December 1999, the old airport street was added and the old airport Street office was set up.
In April 2001, the old airport street was renamed Yinshan street. In May of the same year, Liunan District carried out the pilot of community regionalization construction in Hexi street, re divided and integrated to establish communities. By June 2002, the original 50 neighborhood committees in six streets of Liunan district were canceled and divided and integrated into 45 communities.
In September 2002, Liuzhou City readjusted its administrative division and abolished its suburbs. The three administrative villages of Xie Township, Taiyang village, Huangcun Township and Yangjiaoshan town in the former suburbs were assigned to Liunan district.
In July 2005, Liuzhou City deployed the merger of towns and townships, set up streets, and abolished the system of Xie township. Liunan District added two streets, namely, Nanhuan and Tanxi, and set up two street offices, namely, Nanhuan and Tanxi. The 10 administrative villages of Xie Township were assigned to Taiyang village and Nanhuan Street respectively. At the same time, Liunan District adjusted the administrative divisions of Taiyang village and some streets, and put some communities and villages into the two streets of Nanhuan and TanQian. In recent years, Liunan district has been divided into eight streets, namely Liunan, Liushi, Nanzhan, Eshan, Hexi, Yinshan, Nanhuan and Tanxi, and one town, taiyangcun.

The terrain of Liunan district is high in the West and low in the East. Most of the Taiyang villages and towns in the west of the district and the western part of the former Xie township are hilly and rocky areas. The mountains are undulating, and the altitude of the mountains is generally below 300 meters. From Wenbishan to Xinxu in the west, the hills are undulating, and the strike is controlled by the tectonic line. The elevation of the top of the hills is generally 160-350 meters. Wenbi mountain is the second highest peak in the urban area. It is located at the southern end of Nangang mountain in Xie township. The elevation of the top of the mountain is 419 meters and the relative height is 284 meters. Due to the difference of rocks and weathering, the lower part of the mountain is in gentle slope shape, and the upper part of the mountain is in steep terrain. The mountain is standing up more than 80 meters. In addition to the sporadic isolated peaks, the ground of the Eastern Street fluctuates, forming a low-lying land with staggered high and low barriers and alternate grooves. The elevation difference of the ground facies is 5-10m, and the ground elevation is 80-100m. The eastern part of the former Xie township is a river terrace with flat terrain and good drainage conditions. It is close to the water source and has the advantage of irrigation. The elevation is 85-120m. The area around Taiyang village is the valley of the peak forest. Between the peaks and forests, there is either a long strip-shaped valley or a wide valley. There is an obvious ancient denudation surface at the top of the peak. The elevation is generally 260-280 meters, and the valley ground elevation is 90-100 meters, with a relative elevation difference of nearly 200 meters.

Liunan district belongs to the subtropical marine monsoon climate zone. The monsoon circulation is very obvious. Warm and humid marine air mass prevails in summer and cold and dry continental air mass prevails in winter. It has the characteristics of early spring and late autumn, long summer and short winter. In summer, southerly wind prevails with high temperature and more rain; in winter, northerly wind prevails with low temperature and less rain. The winter is short but not too cold, the summer is long and hot, the rain is hot in the same season, and the frost free period is as long as 328 days. The annual average wind speed is 1.6 meters per second. The annual average number of gale days (maximum wind speed ≥ 17 m / s) is 2.5 days, which belongs to the area with lower wind speed and gale days in China. The area is humid in late autumn, dry in spring and wet in summer, with an average annual vapor pressure of 19.6 HPA and an average annual relative humidity of 76%. The annual average evaporation is 1609.3mm, with the highest in July and the lowest in February.

Most of the large floods in Liunan district are concentrated in June to July, which is characterized by sudden rise and fall. A flood process is generally 5-7 days, the short one is only 3 days, and the old one can reach 28 days. The larger flood is generally formed by the superposition of 2-3 rainstorms in the basin. After the Honghua Hydropower Station in the lower reaches of Liujiang River has been built to store water, the depth of Liujiang River Reach in Liunan district is generally 6-13 meters, and the deepest reaches can reach more than 30 meters in flood period. The width of the river is usually more than 500 meters. The average annual runoff of Liujiang River is 1250 cubic meters per second, and the annual runoff is 39.53 billion cubic meters. The annual average water temperature is 21.4 ℃. The Bank of the river is mostly sandy soil, with pebbles and sand in the riverbed. The annual average sediment content is 0.112 kg / m3.

There are Liujiang River flowing through Liunan district with a drainage area of more than 10000 square kilometers, and there are four rivers with a drainage area of more than 50 square kilometers, namely Liujiang River, Daqiao River, e River (zhue River) and Xinwei river. The Liujiang River basin covers an area of 58246 square kilometers. It flows through 14.25 kilometers of Liunan district. From top to bottom, it flows through taiyangcun Town, Tanxi street, Nanzhan street and Liunan street. Daqiao river basin covers an area of 717 square kilometers, flows through Liunan District 5.47 kilometers, and flows through Nanhuan Street area. The drainage area of e river is 71.8 square kilometers, and the river is 18 kilometers long. From top to bottom, it flows through taiyangcun Town, Nanhuan street, Eshan street, Liunan street and Nanzhan street. Xinwei river basin covers an area of 59.9 square kilometers, with a length of 14 kilometers. The whole river is in Taiyang village. There are 3 large-scale groundwater sources.

Mammals in Xie Township and Taiyang village include pangolin, big civet, little civet, South China rabbit (hare), wild boar, civet, red muntjac (yellow tusk), weasel (weasel), vole, house mouse, squirrel, etc. Birds include hawk, egret, cuckoo, partridge, myna, thrush, dove, sparrow, swallow, mungbean, owl, etc. Reptiles are turtle, tortoise, gecko, cobra, rat snake, white snake, etc. Amphibians include tiger frog (pheasant), ratchet bellied frog (leech nephew), toad, etc. Fish are carp, black carp, grass carp (grass carp), perch, eel, loach and so on. Insects are dragonflies, mantis, beetles and so on.
