History of construction
Before Qin Dynasty, the city belonged to Baiyue.
In the 33rd year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (214 BC), Guilin County, Nanhai county and Xiang county were established. The city belongs to Guilin County in the north and Xiang County in the south.
At the end of Qin Dynasty and the beginning of Han Dynasty, the city belonged to Nanyue.
In the sixth year of the reign of emperor Ding of the Han Dynasty (111 BC), Guangyu County, Hepu County, Anguang County, Pingshan County, etc. were under the jurisdiction of Yulin County and Hepu County respectively. Anguang county is governed by Hengzhou City, which is the beginning of the establishment of Hengzhou city.
During the Three Kingdoms period, the city was under the jurisdiction of Wu state. Wu Yongan three years (260 years), divided into Hepu County, set up the north of Hepu Duwei, spin change ningpu County, rule ningpu. Guangyu county was removed and merged into angung County, and Pingshan and Liandao counties were added.
In the first year of Taikang (280), Liandao county was changed into Xingdao county. Taikang seven years (286), home Anpu County, ningpu.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, during the reign of Liang Tianjian (502-519), it was divided into ningpu County, Jianyang county and Jianyang county. In the 11th year of kaihuang (591), ningpu and Jianyang counties were removed and changed into Jianzhou, which still governed ningpu county. In the 18th year of kaihuang, Jianzhou was changed into Yuanzhou. In the second year of Daye of Sui Dynasty (606), the counties of Yuanzhou, ningpu, Leshan and Lingshan were removed, which belonged to Yulin County.
In the fourth year of Wude (621) of Tang Dynasty, Jianzhou was restored, and ningpu and Lingshan counties were still led. Mengze, Chunfeng (later changed to Chunhua) and Leshan counties were also established. At the same time, in today's Heng County, chunzhou was set up to govern Yongding and lead Wuluo county and Lingzhu county. In 623, Jianzhou was changed to nanjianzhou. In 634, it was renamed Hengzhou. In the first year of Yongzhen (805), chunzhou was changed into luanzhou.
In the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, today's Hengzhou city belongs to Chu first, and then to the Southern Han Dynasty.
In the fifth year of Kaibao (972), luanzhou was withdrawn and Yongding County was changed into Hengzhou. In the fourth year of Xining (1071), Yongding County was withdrawn and merged into ningpu county. In 1088, Yongding County was restored and later renamed Yongchun County.
In 1279, Hengxian County was upgraded to Hengzhou road. Yuanzhen first year (1295), down to Hengzhou, state governance ningpu County, jurisdiction ningpu County, Yongchun County.
In 1369, ningpu county was withdrawn and merged into Hengzhou, which was under the jurisdiction of Xunzhou Prefecture, Guangxi's chief political secretary. Hongwu ten years (1377), demoted to county, Hengzhou to Hengxian, under the jurisdiction of Nanning government. In 1380, Hengzhou was restored and Yongchun County was unified, which belonged to Xunzhou Prefecture first and Nanning Prefecture later.
In the Qing Dynasty, Heng county is still called Hengzhou and Yongchun County, belonging to Nanning Prefecture.
In 1913, Hengzhou was changed to Hengxian County, and the name of Yongchun County remained unchanged. Heng County and Yongchun County are under the jurisdiction of Nanning Road.
In 1926, Heng County and Yongchun County were under the jurisdiction of Nanning District.
In 1949, Hengxian County and Yongchun County belonged to Binyang district.
In 1952, Yongchun County was withdrawn, and Luancheng, Liujing, Liangqi, Pinglang, Shitang and other districts under its jurisdiction were put under the jurisdiction of Heng County, belonging to Nanning special area.
In 2003, Nanning area was withdrawn and Hengxian County was put under the jurisdiction of Nanning city.
On February 3, 2021, Hengxian County was abolished and Hengzhou city at the county level was established. It shall be administered by Nanning municipality directly under the central government of the autonomous region. Hengzhou city takes the former administrative region of Hengxian County as the administrative region of Hengzhou city.
