Wucheng District is a historical and cultural ancient city of Jinhua in Zhejiang Province. It is the central city of Jinhua and the political, cultural and business center of Jinhua. It has been built for more than 1800 years. As of 2014, Wucheng District has jurisdiction over 9 towns, 9 townships and 9 streets, with a total area of 1391.08 square kilometers, of which Jiancheng district covers an area of 43 square kilometers and a total population of 761700. It is the economic and cultural center of Central and Western Zhejiang.
By the end of 2018, the population of Wucheng District registered residence was 389 thousand.
Wucheng District has formed a building materials, chemical, mechanical and electrical, auto parts, electronics, textiles, clothing, food and other industrial systems, with 43.6 square kilometers of Industrial Park under development. Wucheng District has achieved remarkable results in agricultural industrialization, and has been named as "the hometown of Camellia in China", "the hometown of Osmanthus in China", "the hometown of potted landscape of nursery stock in China", "the hometown of dairy cows and dairy products in southern China". The quality of National Farmers' cooperatives was improved, and the pilot units were promoted throughout the county.
Historical evolution
According to Taiping Huanyu Ji, the annals of Jinhua Prefecture of Kangxi recorded that "Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty changed Jinhua Prefecture", and noted that "the preface of Yutai Xinyong says: Venus and Wu women fight for China, so Japan is in Jinhua.". In the period of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, Wuzhou was established, which was called Wuzhou at first. Jinhua City was called Wucheng, which was called Wucheng for short.
Wucheng District has a long history and belongs to Yue State in spring and autumn and Warring States period.
In the reign of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (222 BC), Wushang county (now Yiwu) was set up in Kuaiji Prefecture, which was divided into Wuyue Prefecture and Wucheng District.
In the third year of emperor Xiandi's reign in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 192), Changshan County was set up in wushangnan township (actually southwest township), which was named after Changshan (Jinhua mountain) in the northeast of the county.
In 266, the first year of Wu Baoding in the Three Kingdoms, Dongyang county was established as a branch of Jijun County, and the county was governed by Changshan County.
In 589, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty abolished the county and established Wuzhou. Changshan County was renamed Wuning county. In the 12th year, it was renamed Dongyang county. In 598, it was renamed Jinhua County.
In 688, Wu Zetian changed his name to Jinshan County, and in 705, Emperor Zhongzong changed his name to Jinhua County.
In 1276, Jinhua County was ruled by Wuzhou road.

In 1898 (1358), Jinhua County was governed by ningyue Prefecture, and in 1360 by Jinhua Prefecture.
During the five hundred and fifty years of Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was the seat of Jinhua government.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), when Zhejiang was restored, the government was abolished and Jinhua County was directly under Zhejiang Province.
In 1914, Jinhua Road was set up, which governed Jinhua and Quzhou. Daoyin was stationed in Daoqian street.
In 1926, Dao was abolished, and Jinhua County belonged to Zhejiang Province.
In 1932, the fourth Office of Zhejiang provincial administrative inspector was established in Jinhua.
In 1947, the office of the eighth administrative inspector general of Zhejiang Province was established in Yiwu, under the jurisdiction of Jinhua County.
In May 1949, Jinhua was liberated and Jinhua County was set up. In October 1949, Jinhua City was set up in the urban area of Jinhua County.
In 1950, Jinhua City was removed and merged into Jinhua County.
In 1951, there were Jinhua County and Jinhua City.
Tangxi county was withdrawn in 1958, except two townships were merged into Lanxi, the rest were merged into Jinhua County.
In 1959, Longyou County was abolished, and Huzhen district was merged into Jinhua County. After that, Jinhua County was set up as a city (county) twice.
In 1981, Jinhua County was called Jinhua City.
Longyou County was restored in 1983, and its Huzhen district was still under the jurisdiction of Longyou County.
In 1985, the land was removed to build the city, and the former Jinhua City was divided into Wucheng District and Jinhua County.
Approved by the State Council on December 30, 2000, 14 townships (towns) of Yafan, andI, bailongqiao, Langya, Jiangtang, Tangxi, Luobu, Yangbu, Changshan, Shafan, Tashi, lingshang, Xinfan and ruoyang in Jinhua County were put under the jurisdiction of Wucheng District. In addition to the original 7 streets and 6 townships of Luodian, qiubin, Zhuma, Qianxi, Xinshi and Sumeng, Wucheng District of Jinhua City has 7 streets, 20 townships, 77 neighborhood committees, 639 villages and 622400 people.
On July 31, 2002, according to the spirit of the reply of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government on the adjustment of some administrative divisions in Wucheng District and Jindong District of Jinhua City (zzh No. 116), some administrative divisions in Wucheng District were adjusted as follows: the organizational system of qiubin town and Xinshi Township in Wucheng District was abolished, and qiubin and Xinshi sub district offices were established. The two sub district offices were directly under the central government of Wucheng District People's government. Qiubin sub district office is in charge of 18 administrative villages, namely zhujitou, shanzuitou, zhangwulong, Maanshan, lvxiantang, guandingshan, Huashan, tangzhai, Qianzhou, shentiantian, shelu, Lucun, wangwuyuan, jiangshantou, Shaojiang, qiugao, Houzhou and jiangmashanbei, under the jurisdiction of qiubin Town, and the sub district office is in zhujitou administrative village; Xinshi sub district office is in charge of ten administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Xinshi township There are 20 administrative villages including lipailou, Tangcun, Yaolong, yangjiaxiang, Shaxi, Kangcun, Chetou, daoyuantang, Wuyi, Houlong, fangjingtou, Qinjian, duiyuedian, XIAPEI, Lucun, fangshengtang, shanxiacao, Changling, Gaocun and luojiatang. The sub district office is located in Wuyi administrative village. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, Wucheng District has jurisdiction over 9 towns, 9 townships and 9 sub district offices.

Location context
Wucheng District is located in the middle of Zhejiang Province along the east coast of China, in the hinterland of Jinqu basin. It is the junction of Shanghai Economic Zone, coastal developed areas and inland hinterland. It has three port cities of Shanghai, Ningbo and Wenzhou in the East, Western Zhejiang and three provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui in the West. It is an important transportation hub of Zhejiang Province and China, and an important transportation thoroughfare of Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces.

The terrain is high in the southwest and northeast, which is respectively extended by xianxialing mountain and Jinhua mountain. Most of them are medium and low mountains. Xiaojinzhujian, 1336 meters above sea level, is the highest point in Suichang county. In the middle and north of the area, there are low hills, shallow hills and plains. Yasu, bailongqiao Town, is the lowest point in the whole area at an altitude of 31 meters.

After the confluence of yanweizhou and nanyaiwuyi rivers, Yiwu River is called Jinhua River, also known as Wujiang River. It flows westward to the northwest, receives Qianxi River, Baisha River and other streams along the way, and then leaves the country to Lanxi City in the north of Yasu. Qujiang enters from the west of Yangbu, flows along the northwest border, accepts Xinfan and Houda streams, and then leaves for Lanxi City in Houzhang. The journey from Wucheng District to Ningbo and Hangzhou is only one and a half hours, and the journey to Shanghai is only more than three hours. It is 50km away from Yiwu civil aviation airport and only 90 minutes' drive to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.

The first-class national key protected wild animals include muntjac, and the second-class national key protected wild animals include hyena, rhesus monkey, giant salamander, tiger frog and pangolin. There are about 250 monkeys in Nanshan.
