Jiexi County belongs to Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. It is located in the east of Guangdong Province, the west of Jieyang City, the northwest of Chaoshan Plain and the middle and upper reaches of the South River of Rongjiang river. The total area of the county is about 1365 square kilometers, with a total population of 993200 by the end of 2017, belonging to subtropical monsoon climate. By 2019, Jiexi County has jurisdiction over one street, 15 towns and one Township, and the county government is located in hEPO street.
The main area of Jiexi County was originally Jieyang. In July 1965, with the approval of the State Council, Jiexi County was established. Jiexi County is a famous old revolutionary base area and hometown of overseas Chinese in China. It is a national comprehensive tourism demonstration area, a national ecological demonstration area pilot county, a comprehensive tourism reform demonstration area in Guangdong Province and a comprehensive tourism reform demonstration county in Guangdong Province. It enjoys the preferential treatment for the revitalization and development of hailufeng old revolutionary base area. Shanzhan expressway, Xingshan Expressway and Yongguan Expressway pass through the territory.
In 2017, Jiexi County achieved a GDP of 25.057 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7% over the previous year.
History of construction
The Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties belonged to Baiyue, while the Xia and Shang Dynasties belonged to Haiyang state (Southern Ou state).
During the Three Kingdoms period of Qin and Han Dynasties, it belonged to Jieyang County of Nanhai county. At the end of Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Jieyang County of Nanyue state when Zhao Tuo became king. At the beginning of Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Nanhai state.
The sixth year of Xianhe (331) belonged to Haiyang County, Dongguan County, and the ninth year of Yixi (413) belonged to Haiyang County, Yi'an county.
In song, Qi, Liang and Chen dynasties, the organizational system remained unchanged.
In 591, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty belonged to Haiyang County of Chaozhou.
Tang chengsui system, is still Lingnan Chaozhou Haiyang county.
In 1121, Haiyang County of Chaozhou was replaced by Jieyang County of Chaozhou, and JieXi was subordinate to Jieyang County of Chaozhou.
From the Yuan Dynasty to the 16th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1279), it belonged to Jieyang County, Chaozhou Road, Guangdong Province.
In 1369, the second year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, belonged to Jieyang County, Chaozhou Prefecture, Guangdong Province.

During the period of the Republic of China, it was subordinate to Guangdong chaoxun, Jieyang County of Dongjiang administrative committee, Jieyang County of Dongjiang Rehabilitation Committee Office, Eastern appeasement Committee Office, the Fifth District administrative inspector Office of Guangdong Province and the Sixth District administrative inspector Office of Guangdong Province.
At the beginning of 1949, it was subordinate to Jieyang County, the office of the eighth district administrative inspector of Guangdong Province.
In October 1949, the people's Republic of China was founded. The main area of JieXi was under the Chaoshan Office of the Commissioner along with Jieyang county.
In 1952, JieXi was subordinate to the eastern Guangdong administrative office.
In 1956, JieXi was subordinate to the Shantou Office of the Commissioner.
On July 19, 1965, Jiexi County was set up in the west of Jieyang County, Shantou special region, and the people's Government of Jiexi County was established, which was subordinate to Shantou Commissioner's office.
In February 1968, Jiexi County Revolutionary Committee was established, which was subordinate to Shantou regional military control committee and Shantou regional revolutionary committee respectively.
In 1975, Gongshan, Sixiang and Huxi production teams originally belonging to Puning county were assigned to the people's commune of Mianhu Town, Jiexi County.
In September 1980, Jiexi County Revolutionary Committee was abolished and Jiexi County People's government was established, which was subordinate to Shantou district administrative office.
In December 1983, Jiexi County People's government was subordinate to Shantou City People's government.
In December 1991, Shantou City was divided into today's Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang, and Jiexi County was subordinate to Jieyang City.

On July 19, 1965, with the consent of the State Council, 12 communes and Mianhu town in Jieyang, including Liangtian, hEPO, Pingshang, Longtan, Huizhai, Wujingfu, jingxiyuan, Qiankeng, Jinhe, Tatou, Dongyuan and fengjiang, and 2 communes in Lufeng County, including 14 communes, 1 town and 153 administrative villages, were set up. Jiexi County People's government was established and subordinate to Shantou Commissioner's office .
In October 1965, hEPO people's commune designated hEPO town.
In February 1966, Huizhai people's commune set up 10 production teams including Qianfeng, Beixi, Shangliao, Huoju, Daxin, Nanshan, Xiyou, Fenshui, chenggoutan and yanghaiping, and added Nanshan people's commune. There are 15 communes and 2 towns under the jurisdiction of the county.
In 1967, the Chinese people's Liberation Army in mantoushan set up a branch left Liaison Group in Jiexi County.

In February 1975, according to the decision of the higher authorities, three production brigades of Gongshan, Huxi and Sixiang in Puning county were assigned to Mianhu town in Jiexi County.
In September 1976, the Qiankeng people's commune set up seven production brigades, namely, Dayuan, Dadong, dalingpu, Yuliang, Jingxin, Xixin and Jingmei.
In October 1976, Wujingfu people's commune set up Dayang group and added Dayang people's commune; Liangtian people's commune set up six production groups, including Anyang, tongshuping, Zhongxin, Hexin, Shuangshui and hehe, and added Xitian people's commune. So far, the county has jurisdiction over 18 people's communes and 2 towns.
In October 1983, the people's commune was abolished and the original commune was changed into a district office. Membership remains unchanged. The county has jurisdiction over 18 district offices, 2 towns and 283 administrative villages.
In December 1986, the district system was changed to township system. The former Wuyun district was divided into Wuyun town and Xiasha Township, and the former hEPO district was merged with hEPO Town, which was called hEPO town. There are 16 towns and 4 townships in the county.
In June 2003, Liangtian Township and Xitian Township were merged into Liangtian township.
In December 2003, Wuyun town and Xiasha Township merged into Wuyun Town, while Wujingfu town and Dayang Township merged into Wujingfu town. So far, the county has jurisdiction over 16 towns and 1 township.

Jiexi County is located at the south foot of Dabei mountain, the branch of Lianhua Mountain. The landforms are mainly mountainous, hilly and plain, of which 62% are mountainous, 24% are hilly and 14% are plain. There are many mountains and hills in the northwest, rolling hills in the middle, low-lying plains in the southeast, and the terrain inclines from northwest to Southeast. Liwangzhang in the northwest is 1222 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in the county; liyugou on the Bank of Rongjiang River in the southeast is 3 meters above sea level, which is the lowest point in the county. The relative height difference between the highest peak and the lowest point is 1219m.
Jiexi County has a large mountainous area and wide distribution, mainly in the northwest, West, southwest and south of the area. Dabei mountain is located in the south of Lianhua Mountain. The mountain is huge, steep, overlapping peaks, a variety of forms, stretching more than 60 kilometers. The mountains are northeast southwest, with 7 peaks above 1000 meters above sea level, forming a northern barrier.
The hills of Jiexi County are mainly distributed in the areas of hEPO, Daxi, Qiankeng, Huizhai and jingxiyuan in the middle and east of the county. The height of the hills is generally within 100 meters above sea level, and the relative height difference is less than 100 meters. The slope is gentle and gradually decreases from West to East.
JieXi plain is mainly distributed in Jinhe, Tatou, fengjiang, Dongyuan and Mianhu areas on the banks of Rongjiang River in the south. The terrain is flat and open, and the altitude is generally below 20 meters. It belongs to Rongjiang alluvial plain. The tributaries of Rongjiang river form an X-shaped water network with Mianhu Lake as the center. Due to the low and flat terrain, the flow velocity slows down, and the middle and lower reaches of the Rongjiang River are often supported by the tide, the siltation area gradually expands, forming an alluvial plain.

According to the statistics of meteorological department from 1967 to 2003, the monthly average temperature in summer is above 24 ℃, and the highest is 28.2 ℃ in July. Summer rainfall, annual late May to early June, late July to early August, is the peak of annual rainfall, the average ten day rainfall is 119.5 mm. In winter, there is low temperature and little rain. The average annual temperature in January is 13.4 ℃ and the average rainfall is 37.3 mm. The phenomenon of winter drought often occurs.

The main rivers in Jiexi County are Rongjiang river. Rongjiang river is the main stream of Rongjiang river. The Rongjiang River in the county is commonly known as rongjiangnan river. The main stream of Rongjiang river originates from Fenghuang Mountain in Luhe county. It flows from west to East into the county. It flows through Wuyun, hEPO, Pingshang, Daxi, Qiankeng, Jinhe and fengjiang rivers to Mianhu town. It flows eastward to Rongcheng in Jieyang, and flows into Nanhai after Huibei river. The total length of the river is 184 km, and the river reach in the county is 71.7 km. 97.4% of the area of the county belongs to the Rongjiang river system, and there are six tributaries with a catchment area of more than 100 square kilometers. Among them, Shangsha River, Hengjiang River and Huizhai River originate in the Northwest Mountainous Area of the county and flow into the South River of Rongjiang River from north to South; Shidu river originates from shilongkeng in Puning City and flows into the South River of Rongjiang River from southwest to northeast; Wujingfu river originates from louzizhang in Fengshun County and flows southward to taoxizhou in Tatou and joins with Huizhai River and then flows into the South River of Rongjiang river.
