Xiangdong District Xiangdong district is subordinate to Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province, bordering Liling City, Hunan Province in the West and Youxian County, Hunan Province in the southwest. Historical evolution
Eastern Hunan has a long history. As early as four or five thousand years ago, the ancestors of eastern Hunan worked here.
In the sixth year of Yuanguang (129 BC), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was subordinate to the Marquis state of Yichun; in the fifth year of Yuanding (112 BC), the Marquis state of Yichun was abolished and restored to Yuzhang County, which was subordinate to Yichun County until the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
In the early and middle period of the Three Kingdoms, the territory was Yichun County, Yuzhang County, Yangzhou, the state of Wu. In 267, when Pingxiang was established as a county, eastern Hunan was always under the jurisdiction of Pingxiang County, which was called "Pingxi district".
Sui kaihuang 11 years (591), belongs to Yichun County Pingxiang county.
In 621, Yichun county was renamed Yuanzhou, belonging to Pingxiang county.
In 1277, it belonged to Yuanzhou County, Hunan Province; in 1282, it belonged to Jiangxi Province.
In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369), the provincial government was abolished and Jiangxi Province was renamed as the chief minister. Pingxiang was restored as a county and still attached to Pingxiang County, belonging to Yuanzhou Prefecture.
In 1645, the second year of the reign of emperor Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty, Pingxiang County, Yuanzhou Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, was the province of Fuxing.
In 1970, Pingxiang was upgraded to a prefecture level city.

In January 1971, Xiangdong district was established, which is located in the old street of Xiangdong town and has jurisdiction over Xiangdong Town, including eight people's communes of Heyao, Laoguan, Xiabu, Dongqiao, Paishang, Lashi, Baizhu and guanghanzhai reclamation farm; in October, four production teams and 16 production teams of Zhangli, Wuliting, Ganquan, LiuTian in Xiangdong town were assigned to Xiangdong District Institute of Agricultural Sciences.
In January 1973, the state-owned Longtai forest farm was transformed into Longtai people's commune. The Yuanbing people's commune was set up by the four brigades of Mashan people's commune, namely Yuanyuan, Bingtian, Chongyuan and Dafeng, with a total of 10 people's communes, one farm, one town and one institute under its jurisdiction.

On February 15, 1986, quantian township was set up in eastern Hunan, with jurisdiction over Zhangli, qingni, Ganquan, penxing, Wuli and LiuTian villages of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences.
On May 29, 1993, Mashan Township and Laoguan Township were abolished and Mashan town and Laoguan town were established.
On August 26, 1994, Lashi Township, paixia Township, Xiabu Township and Heyao Township were abolished, and Lashi Town, Paishang Town, Xiabu town and Heyao town were established.
