Zijin County Zijin County, a county under the jurisdiction of Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the east central part of Guangdong Province, the southeast of Heyuan City, the East Bank of the middle reaches of Dongjiang River and the upstream of Hanjiang River. It is the birthplace of Hanjiang River. With a total area of 3627 square kilometers, the county is located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone. In 2020, there will be 16 towns and 270 Village (neighborhood) committees. The county government is located in Zicheng town.
In 1569, the court approved the establishment of Yong'an county. In 1914, Yongan county was renamed Zijin County. In May 1949, it was subordinate to Dongjiang district. In 1952, it was transferred to eastern Guangdong, Huiyang in 1956, Shantou in 1959, Huiyang in 1963 and Heyuan County in 1988.
In 2019, the GDP of Zijin County will reach 10.66 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5%, and the local general public budget revenue will reach 790 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%. In March of the same year, Zijin County was listed as one of the first revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization area counties.

In 2004, the village committee of Zijin County adjusted and merged 28 village committees. By the end of the year, the county had set up 20 towns, 273 villagers' committees and 24 neighborhood committees.
In 2005, the villagers' committee of the whole county held the third general election, which was completed in November 2005 with the addition of a neighborhood committee attached to the city.
In 2006, seven villages (Wushi Shangcheng village, Nangang village, shuidunduanbu village, Nanling town caitou village, Lantang Boya village, Yirong Xiping village and Longteng Village) were approved to be renamed.
In 2008, the neighborhood committee of Waxi community was set up.

It is adjacent to Wuhua County in the East, BOLUO County across the Dongjiang River in the west, Huicheng District of Huizhou City in the southwest, Huidong County in the south, Luhe and Haifeng counties in the southeast, Yuancheng District of Heyuan City in the northwest and Dongyuan County of Heyuan City in the north. The topography of Zijin County is mainly mountainous and hilly. Mountains and hills cover an area of 3046 square kilometers, accounting for 84% of the total area of the county (of which 79.9% are mountains and 4.1% are hills), and 16% are valleys, basins and waters. The terrain is high in the East and low in the west, and the mountains in the north and South are overlapped, and the terrain is high; the middle part is low and tilts to the East and West wings, forming an asymmetric saddle shape, belonging to two water systems of Dongjiang River and Hanjiang River with different flow directions. The eastern part of Zijin County belongs to Hanjiang River system, and the central and western parts belong to Dongjiang River system, accounting for 77.1% of the county area. Dongjiang River flows into Zijin through Longchuan, Dongyuan and Yuancheng districts, flows through Linjiang and Guzhu towns in the west of Zijin County, and flows into Huicheng District of Huizhou City. The river in the county is 54 km long. Zijin County is the birthplace of Hanjiang River.
Qiuxiang River: a tributary of Dongjiang River, the main river in the county, located in the middle of Zijin County. It originates from the liudunzhang at the junction of Zicheng Town, Longwo town and Shuidun town. From east to west, it flows through seven towns of Zicheng, Waxi, Jiuhe, Lantang, Fengan, Haoyi and Guzhu, and joins Dongjiang River at Jiangkou Village of Guzhu town. The main stream is 144 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 1669 square kilometers, including 1590.5 square kilometers in Zijin County, accounting for 46% of the county's land area.
Yirong River (formerly known as Yirong River, also known as guzhushui): a tributary of Dongjiang River, is the main river in the west of the county. Dashandong (dalinggu), which originates from Tianxin village of Qingxi in Yirong Town, flows through Yirong and Guzhu towns from east to west, and joins Dongjiang River in Chaosha village of Guzhu town. The main stream is 46 kilometers long and the drainage area is 403 square kilometers, accounting for 11% of the county's land area.
Baipu River (formerly known as Shenjiang River): a tributary of Dongjiang River, the main river in the northwest of the county. It originates from Ma tianzhai, Zicheng Town, and flows through Zicheng, huangtang, Baipu and Linjiang towns from east to west, then flows into chengling village of Linjiang town and joins Dongjiang River. The main stream is 60 kilometers long and the drainage area is 446 square kilometers, accounting for 12.3% of the land area of the county.
Kanghe River (upstream): a tributary of Dongjiang River, located in the north of Zijin County, originated from jimushan, Zicheng town. The main stream in the county is 26 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 135.5 square kilometers and a large river drop. It is a key river for hydropower development in the county.
Zhongba River (formerly known as Beiqin River): the secondary tributary of Hanjiang River, located in the northeast of Zijin County. Originated in Zhongba town and luzizhang (leigongping) in Dongyuan County. From west to East, it flows through Zhongba and Jingzi towns to Yanggao village of Jingzi Town, where it meets Shuidun water, and then flows into Wuhua County. The county's main stream is 28 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 399 square kilometers, accounting for 11% of the county's land area.
Yangtou River (formerly known as nanqin River): the secondary tributary of Hanjiang River, the main river in the southeast of Zijin County. It originates from Wudun mountain (qixingdong) in Nanling. From the southeast to the northeast, it flows through Nanling, Soviet Area, Longwo and other three towns, and then flows to qiniangtan, which is at the junction of Longwo town and Wuhua County. The main stream of the county is 43 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 416 square kilometers, accounting for 11% of the county's land area.

There was no soil survey in Zijin County during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The people identified and named the soil according to its nature and color. The named paddy soil mainly includes: mud meat field, sand mud field, knot mud field, shallow foot sand field, baisanjie field, yellow mud field, Huyang field, oily mud field, lengdi field, etc., which are distributed in the whole county.
In the late period of the Republic of China, soil survey was carried out for the first time in Zijin County, which divided the soil into 9 categories and 34 species. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Zijin County carried out two soil surveys. The first soil survey was carried out in 1958, and the soil was divided into five soil types. Among them, yellow soil accounts for 3% of the total area, which is distributed in the high mountains of Nanling, Huanghua and Jiushu with an altitude of more than 800 meters and a slope of 35 ° to 42 °, red soil accounts for 84% of the total area, which is distributed in the hilly area with an altitude of 100-600 meters and a slope of 15 ° to 35 °, purple soil accounts for 2% of the total area, which is distributed in the hilly area of Jiuhe and southwest with an altitude of about 300 meters, and rocky soil accounts for 20% The total area is 1%, which is distributed in the high mountain areas with an altitude of more than 800 meters in the north and south of the county; the paddy soil accounts for 8% of the total area, which is distributed on both sides of rivers, hills, valleys and kengjian sections.
From September 1981 to September 1983, the second soil survey was carried out in Zijin County. The soil was divided into 7 soil types, 12 sub types, 41 soil genera and 115 soil species. According to its use, it can be divided into three categories: natural soil (mountain soil), dry land soil and paddy soil, with a total area of 4.9728 million mu, accounting for 91.4% of the total area of the county.
