Xiangzhou District Xiangzhou District belongs to Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. History of construction
In the eighth year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (214 BC), Guilin County, Nanhai county and Xiangjun county were set up in Lingnan. Xiangshan Island (including the present Xiangzhou area) on the ancient Lingdingyang is Nanhai county.
In the sixth year of the reign of emperor Ding of the Han Dynasty (111 BC), Nanyue was pacified in the Han Dynasty, and Xiangshan Island belonged to Panyu County of Nanhai county.
From the first year of song Yongchu to the third year of Chen Zhenming (420-589), there were four dynasties (Song Dynasty, Qi Dynasty, Liang Dynasty and Chen Dynasty, which were called Southern Dynasty in History). Xiangshan Island belonged to Bao'an County, the eastern official County of Southern Dynasty.
In 757, Baoan county was renamed Dongguan county. Dongguan county set up wenshun Township in Xiangshan Island (now Shanchang village, Xiangzhou District) as a local administrative unit. At the same time, Xiangshan town is set up in haotan (now Shanchang village, Xiangzhou District) where the township is located. At the beginning of the Northern Song Dynasty, the whole wenshun township was transformed into Xiangshan Town, a local administrative unit.

In 1910, the town of Xiangshan was changed into a district. Now Xiangzhou was the sixth and seventh district of Xiangshan County.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the seventh district of Xiangshan was renamed the Fifth District, which governs the streets of Xiangzhou City, Qianshan, Gongbei, Nanping, etc. The name and jurisdiction of the Sixth District remain unchanged, still governing Tangjiawan area.
In 1925, Xiangshan County was renamed Zhongshan County in memory of Dr. Sun Yat Sen.
In December 1952, the fishermen District People's Government of Zhongshan County was established and stationed in Tangjia. In August 1961, Zhuhai county carried out regional adjustment in Xiangzhou, with a total of 6 districts, 13 communes and 3 farms.
On March 5, 1979, Zhuhai county was changed into Zhuhai City, and the administrative region of Zhuhai county was the administrative region of Zhuhai City. On May 25, 1953, the number and scope of the name of Xiangzhou District were determined. There are four districts and 44 townships in the first district (Tangjia District), the second district (Qianshan District), the third district (Sanzao District) and the fourth district (Wanqingsha District).
In July 1955, Zhuhai County renamed the first, second and third districts of the original Xiangzhou area as Tangjia District, Qianshan District and Sanzao district respectively.
In October 1956, Xiangzhou District carried out the work of merging townships and withdrawing districts. 13 townships (towns and farms) including Tangjia, Wanshan, xiazha, Qianshan, Cuiwei, Nanping, Wanchai, Sanzao, nanshai, Xiaolin, Wanqingsha, Xiangzhou and Yinkeng were established.
On August 1, 1984, on the basis of the original people's commune, Xiangzhou District set up 12 district offices, including Xiangzhou fishermen's District, Tangjia District, xiazha District, Qianshan District, Nanping District, Wanchai District, nanshai District, Sanzao District, Xiaolin District, Wanshan District, Dangan district and Guishan district. At the same time, it set up urban office, Lianxiang office, Yinkeng oyster farm and nazhou forest farm as the units under its jurisdiction.
On March 18, 1985, Nanping, Tangjia, Wanchai, Qianshan and xiazha towns were set up under the jurisdiction of Nanping, Tangjia, Wanchai, Qianshan and xiazha district respectively; on May 13, xiazha district under Xiangzhou District was renamed Jinding district.
On November 26, 1986, 12 district offices such as Qianshan, 7 townships such as Baishi and 5 townships such as Tangjia were abolished, and 4 townships such as guanzha, Beiling, Jida and Xiawan in Gongbei district were abolished. On December 29, Hengqin Township People's government was set up in the district to administer Hengqin Island.
On February 12, 1989, the Guangdong provincial government agreed to abolish the system of Hengqin Township in Xiangzhou District and set up the system of Hengqin town to govern the administrative region of the original township.
In July 1992, Hengqin Economic Development Zone was established.
In September 1998, with the approval of the Guangdong provincial government, Wanshan district was established, under the jurisdiction of Guishan Town, Dangan town and Wanshan Town, and Dongao tourism comprehensive development pilot zone.
In 2000, it had jurisdiction over 7 streets and 12 towns.
On April 4, 2001, the State Council approved that the three towns of Sanzao, Xiaolin and nanshai in Xiangzhou District were put under the jurisdiction of Jinwan District.
In March 2002, Tangjia town and Jinding town were abolished and merged to form Tangjiawan town. Tangjiawan town governs the communities of Tangjia town and Jinding town. In April, Wanchai town was abolished and turned into Wanchai street.
In 2003, Tangjia town and Jinding town merged into Tangjiawan Town, and Wanchai town was changed into Wanchai street.
On June 30, 2006, Zhuhai municipal Party committee and government issued a document, according to the "Zhuhai (National) high tech Zone system adjustment plan", the main park of Zhuhai high tech Zone is adjusted to Tangjiawan area, and the main park implements "urban co construction, city oriented". Tangjiawan town has been adjusted from the original jurisdiction of Xiangzhou District to "Zhuhai hi tech Zone and Tangjiawan town are integrated and directly managed by Zhuhai City".
On December 16, 2009, Hengqin New District of Zhuhai City was officially established.
On June 22, 2020, Fengshan street was newly established. Among the 24 communities in the former Qianshan street, 9 community residents' committees, including Changsha, Nanxi, Chunhui, Hongli, Meixi, Fuxi, Lixi, Jieyong and Dongkeng, were officially included in the jurisdiction of Fengshan street.

Part of the island belongs to the NE trending Wanshan uplift belt. The southeast and northwest sides are adjacent to the large Cenozoic sedimentary basin in the Pearl River Estuary and the Pearl River Delta Basin on land. The crust of Xiangzhou area has experienced long-term and complicated tectonic changes. There are mainly Caledonian, Indosinian, Yanshanian and Himalayan periods, in which the Yanshanian movement has the widest influence, and is characterized by the development of fold and fault structures and strong magmatic activity.
