Historical evolution
The establishment of Jindong management area can be traced back to 1954 after the founding of new China. In 1954, the seventh Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision was changed to the office of the Commissioner of Lingling special district, and Qiyang County was subordinate to the office of the Commissioner of Lingling special district. On June 17, 1954, a total of 21 townships in Ningyuan county and Changning County (now Changning City) were put under the jurisdiction of Qiyang County, and Jindong forest farm and the 12th district of Qiyang County were established. At this time, Baishayuan, yapodang, sanqiling, xiaomingdong, Jindong, xiaojindong, Yangtian, Shuidong, Leshan, Datou, Jiangkou, DAMAOPING, Baipao, jiangjiachong and Fengfeng were under the jurisdiction of the 12th district of Qiyang County Huang, Baiguo City, zheguling, shiguyuan, nanchongyuan, zaoshuyuan, Jianxia 21 townships, Jindong District Office.
Later, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, and Jindong commune was established. In 1961, the district system was restored. Jindong District of Qiyang County has jurisdiction over Jindong, xiaojindong, shaibeitan, Baiguo City, Fenghuang, shiguyuan and shangsiyuan. The district office is located in Jindong.
In April 1984, 83 people's communes were changed into 83 Township People's governments according to the notice of No. (84) 5 document issued by Hunan provincial Party committee and provincial people's government. At the same time, Jindong District of Qiyang County was abolished and the original seven townships under its jurisdiction were put under the management of Jindong forest farm.
In 1985, Jindong township was abolished and Jindong town was established.
Jindong management area was established in May 2006 with the approval of Hunan provincial Party committee, provincial government and provincial editorial board members. There are 11 administrative villages in the township, with a total population of 6837, of which the Yao population is 3015, accounting for 44% of the total population.
