Fanchang District Fanchang District, which belongs to Wuhu City, Anhui Province, is located in the southwest of Wuhu City, on the South Bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, 35 kilometers away from the center of Wuhu, south of Anhui mountain system, north of Jianghuai plain. Fanchang, known as Chungu in ancient times, was built in the Western Han Dynasty. It has a history of more than 2100 years. During the period of the Southern Tang Dynasty (937-943), five Nanling townships (yanzai Township, Chungu Township, Jin'e Township, Tongguan Township, Lingyan township) were cut off and Fanchang County was restored to Jinling Prefecture. Since then, Fanchang has been designated as a county, and its name is still used today.

In the second year of Yuanfeng (109 BC), Emperor Wu of the Western Han dynasty built Chungu County, which belongs to Danyang county.
During the reign of Wu Yong'an in the Three Kingdoms (258-264), it belonged to Guzhang County. In the first year of Taikang (280), Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty, it belongs to Xuancheng county.
In 318, the first year of emperor Daxing of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Sima Rui ascended the throne of Jiankang (today's Nanjing). The people of Fanyang Town, Xiangcheng County, crossed the river from the emperor and gathered in Chungu to avoid the disaster of war, so they set up Fanyang County in Chungu (later named Fanchang after Princess bifanyang). In the fourth year of emperor Xianhe (329), the overseas Chinese set up Huainan County, lingchungu, Fanchang and other counties. In 383, Emperor Xiaowu of Jin Dynasty changed Chungu to Yanggu. In 413, the ninth year of emperor Yixi of Jin'an, Yanggu province entered Wuhu County, and Wuhu province entered Xiangyuan county. Since the Spring Valley waste, only the prosperity.
In 462, Huainan county was merged into Xuancheng county. Fanchang County belonged to Xuancheng county. In 467, Huainan County returned to Huainan county. In the ninth year of kaihuang (589), Nanling County was abolished and Nanling County was set up. Fanchang County was abolished and Dangtu County was set up. Nanling County ruled Zheqi and belonged to Xuanzhou.
In the fourth year of Chang'an of Tang Dynasty (704), Nanling County was moved to Qingyang (now Nanling County), which belongs to Xuancheng county.

In 1277, Taiping state was changed into Taiping Road. In the 15th year of Emperor Shun's reign (1355), the Ming army crossed the Yangtze River. It first took Taiping Road, Jiangdong Road, Zhejiang Province, and was promoted to Taiping mansion.
In 1371, the fourth year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, the Taiping Prefecture was established as the capital of Zhili. In 1420, the capital was changed to Nanjing, which was called Taiping mansion in nanzhili, and Fanchang belonged to it. In 1457, the first year of emperor Yingzong's reign in Tianshun, Wang Xun, the magistrate of Fanchang County, moved to the upper reaches of Nanji county because the county government was close to the river. He supplied Juju opera to and from the upper reaches of Nanji county. There was no support for the local people. He suggested that the imperial court should move the county. Wu chenzanzhi, the governor of the city, moved the county to jin'eshang Township, and took yanzai township as the old town.
In 1645 (the second year of Shunzhi) and 1667 (the sixth year of Kangxi) of the Qing Dynasty, Fanchang County was subordinate to Jiangnan buzhengsi and Anhui buzhengsi Taiping mansion.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, Fanchang belonged to Wuhu Road. In 1927, it belonged to the second administrative supervision district, in 1932, it belonged to the ninth administrative supervision district, and in 1940, it belonged to the sixth administrative supervision district.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Wudang District of the people's Administrative Office of Southern Anhui Province. In the first half of 1950, it was transferred to Chizhou district. In 1952, it belonged to Wuhu district. In the first half of 1981, it belonged to Xuancheng district administrative office. In July 1983, it belonged to Wuhu City.
On July 6, 2020, Fanchang County will be abolished and Fanchang District of Wuhu City will be established.

In December 2003, Chengguan Town, Xingang Town, Hengshan Township, MABA Township and Gao'an Township merged into Fanyang Town, Digang town and Lunan Township merged into Digang Town, Suncun Town, Huanghu town and Chisha Township merged into Suncun Town, Pingpu town and Xinlin Township merged into Pingpu Town, Sanshan Town, Xiaozhou Township, Baoding Township and Zhonggou Township merged into Sanshan Town, and eqiao Town, Xinhuai Township and Fushan Township merged into eqiao town .
On February 9, 2006, Wuhu Municipal Government approved the former Sanshan town and eqiao town of Fanchang County to be under the jurisdiction of Sanshan district. In the same year, with the approval of the provincial government, Xingang town was added; Xingang town was newly established; after the adjustment, Fanyang town governed 11 communities and 18 administrative villages.
On December 14, 2009, Anhui Provincial Department of Civil Affairs approved the adjustment of administrative divisions of Sanshan district and Fanchang County in Wuhu City (MDZ No. 183): with the consent of the provincial government, six administrative villages and Nibu communities in Xingang town of Fanchang County, including Gao'an, Yihe, Jishan, Caoshan, Yumin and Baixiang, were put under the jurisdiction of Sanshan sub district office of Sanshan district. After the adjustment, Fanchang County has jurisdiction over 6 towns, 19 communities and 75 administrative villages.
On January 27, 2010, the six administrative villages of Gaoan, Yihe, Jishan, Caoshan, Yumin and Baixiang in Xingang town of Fanchang County and Nibu community were officially put under the jurisdiction of Sanshan district. Gaoan street was established and Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge comprehensive economic development zone was entrusted for management.
In April 2012, the jurisdiction of Hengshan Town was set out from Fanyang Town, and Hengshan community was newly established, which was managed by the county economic development zone.
On March 11, 2013, the document fanfa [2013] No. 9 "Implementation Opinions on the establishment of Hengshan public service center" changed the name of Hengshan community to Hengshan public service center.
On July 6, 2020, the State Council approved the administrative division of Anhui Province, abolishing Fanchang County and establishing Fanchang District of Wuhu City. Zhaishan: once named Fushan. Located 11 kilometers northwest of the city, it is located at the boundary of Digang and Xingang, with east-west trend. The elevation of the main peak is 477.2m (Yellow Sea elevation system in 1956, the same below), which is the highest point in the city.
Honghuajian: a name of honghuashan. Located 7 km to the northwest of the city, it is located at the boundary of Fanyang and Suncun. The elevation of the main peak is 450 meters, forming an east-west mountain range with Changlong mountain.
Maren mountain: located 14 kilometers south of the city, is located in the boundary between Sun Village and Nanling. The ridge line is zigzag in the shape of "W", which comes down in one continuous line with chaoshantou. The elevation of the main peak is 316.1 meters.
Wuhua mountain: once known as Yinjing mountain. Located 8 kilometers southeast of the city, it is located in the contiguous zone of Pingpu and Eshan. The ridge line runs north-south, inherits Jianshan and zhuhouling in one continuous line, and the elevation of the main peak is 279.5m.
Fushan: once named yinyushan, it is located 7.5km northeast of the city, adjacent to Eshan and eqiao. It is an isolated mountain with intrusive structure, surrounded by polder areas on three sides, and connected with qianjunling by a southward line. The elevation of the main peak is 431.6m.
