Suining County Suining County, subordinate to Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, is located in the western border of Shaoyang City, between 26 ° 16 ′~ 27 ° 8 ′ N and 109 ° 49 ′~ 110 ° 32 ′ e. the North-South straight line is 103.5km long and the East-West straight line is 56km wide, covering a total area of 2927km2. Suining County was first named Huizhou in 637, the 11th year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty. In 1102, the Court changed Xidong Huizhou into Jimi Huizhou. In the second year of Chongning, Huizhou was forced to surrender again and Shizhu County was restored. At that time, it was renamed Suining County (meaning "suizhi Yining") and attached to Shaozhou. Suining county is rich in tourism resources. It has the largest area of Phoebe forest, hemlock community and Amentotaxus community in China. There is a vast forest sea in Huangsang National Nature Reserve. In Suining County, Baotou Maoming expressway, Dongxin expressway connecting line, Wujing expressway, provincial highway S221 and s319 pass through.
In 2018, the GDP of Suining County was 9295.51 million yuan, an increase of 7.0% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 1760.11 million yuan, an increase of 4.0%; the added value of the secondary industry was 4095.86 million yuan, an increase of 6.1%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 3439.54 million yuan, an increase of 9.8%. The added value of the primary industry accounted for 18.9% of the GDP, the added value of the secondary industry accounted for 44.1%, and the added value of the tertiary industry accounted for 37.0%. In the 11th year of Zhenguan (637) of Tang Dynasty, it was first named Huizhou, which was a state of economic system. In addition to Suining County, it also includes most of today's Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, most of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County and a small part of Xinning County. In 777, it was occupied by Pan Chang'an of Xiyuan man and became Xidong Prefecture. During the reign of Dahe (827-835), it returned to the Tang Dynasty and became Jimi Prefecture.
In the first year of Qianhua in the Five Dynasties (911), Liang returned to Chu, called Shidong, and belonged to Xuzhou. In the eighth year of Baoda (950) of the Southern Tang Dynasty, Chu established wuyangzhai (the site is in Suzhou village, lixiqiao town today) in the north of the county, which also belonged to Xuzhou. In the Later Zhou Xiande period (954-960), it was renamed as Xidong Prefecture.
In the first year of Qingli (1041), the Northern Song Dynasty returned to Song Dynasty and became Jimi Prefecture. In the fifth year of Xining (1072), the Song Dynasty established guanxiazhai (including the northwest part of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County), which was attached to Shaozhou together with wuyangzhai. Xining nine years (1076) abolished Jimi Huizhou. In the fourth year of Yuanfeng (1081), Shizhu County was set up in Huizhou, and erzhai was incorporated into Shaozhou, which was under the jurisdiction of Jinghu road; in the sixth year of Yuanfeng (1083), Chengzhou, which was under the jurisdiction of Jinghu North Road, was changed because of the resistance of the aborigines. Eight years later, the aborigines restored Xidong Huizhou, and Shizhu County survived in name; the imperial court set up linkouzhai in the south of Shizhu County (now the eastern half of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County). Yuanyou two years (1087), waste Shizhu County. In the first year of Chongning (1102), the Imperial Court changed Xidong Huizhou into Jimi Huizhou. In the second year of Chongning, Huizhou was forced to surrender again and Shizhu County was restored. At that time, it was renamed Suining County (meaning "suizhi Yining") and belonged to Shaozhou. In the fifth year, it was changed to Wugang army in Jinghu South Road. In that year, Lingang county was set up in linkouzhai, which was also affiliated to the Wugang army.

On October 10, 1949, the 112th division of the 38th army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army liberated Suining County. On November 1, 1949, a temporary county government was established, which was under the jurisdiction of the Xiangxi administrative office in conjunction with the special office. After the PLA entered Guangxi in the south, the remnant armed forces of the Kuomintang set up the bandit county government in May 1950, and the temporary county government was forced to move to Tangjiafang in the north of the county.
On October 20, 1950, the 136th division of the 46th army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army (under the charge of the 47th Army) invaded Suining and occupied the county seat. The county people's government was established on that day, and the temporary county government was abolished on that day. It was subordinate to the former (Huitong special office was renamed Zhijiang special office in August 1952, and Qianyang special office in November 1952).
In July 1958, it was transferred to Shaoyang special office.
In January 1986, the special office of Shaoyang was abolished and the city led the county. Suining County was subordinate to Shaoyang City.

Yuanjiang River System
Wushui: a tributary of Yuanjiang River. The section in the territory was called Shuangxi in Ming Dynasty and Huangshi River in Qing Dynasty, which is the largest river in the territory. It flows through six ethnic townships and Changpu town of guanxia, Changpu, Shuanghe, zhuzhoujiang, Hekou and Matang, with a flow length of 63.4 km, accounting for 26% of the total length, and a drainage area of 1807.977 square kilometers, accounting for 43% of the total area of Wushui basin.

The source of Yangxu river flows from duolong, Lianfeng Miao and Dong Township, 4 km southwest to Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, and receives Le'an River at shanmuqiao.
