Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County is located in the southwest of Hubei Province, adjacent to the Yangtze River and Hunan Province. It is adjacent to Yichu city and Songzi City in the East, Shimen County in Hunan Province in the south, Hefeng County and Badong County in the west, and Changyang Tujia Autonomous County in the north. It is 60km away from Changjiang River water transport port, Zhicheng railway station, Yihuang expressway, Hurong expressway, 318 National Road, 80km away from Three Gorges Airport, and 325 provincial road runs through the county. It is a mountainous county with an average altitude of 1100 meters and mainly karst landform.
Wufeng County covers an area of 2372 square kilometers, including 288000 mu of cultivated land. It has jurisdiction over 5 towns, 3 townships, 97 administrative villages and 11 community neighborhood committees. It is rich in forest, hydropower, mineral resources, tourism and other natural resources. The forest coverage rate is as high as 81%. It is the hometown of Chinese tea, the national tobacco production base and the gap demonstration base of Chinese herbal medicine. Historical evolution
Wufeng was located in Central Guizhou during the Qin Dynasty.
In the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Wuling county.
In the sixth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1373), Wu Feng Shi Bao was sued and abolished in the fourteenth year. Yongle five years (1407) restoration.
In the 13th year of Yongzheng reign (1735), Wufeng, Shiliang, shuihui, Changmao and other divisions of Rongmei chieftain were merged with some areas designated from Changyang, Yidu, Shimen, Songzi and other counties to set up counties. Changle County was named Changle County according to changleping in the East, and it was subordinate to Yichang Prefecture.
In 1914, because of the same name as Changle County, Fujian Province, the county was renamed Wufeng County by the Wufeng mountain.
In 1949, it belonged to Yichang district. In 1984, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County was established. Yichang City in 1992.
On July 13, 1984, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County was established with the approval of the State Council, and the former Wufeng county was abolished. The former administrative region of Wufeng county is the administrative region of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County. The people's Government of the Autonomous County is located in Chengguan town.
In 1993, Yichang administrative office was removed and Yichang city was under the provincial administration. Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County was under the jurisdiction of Yichang city.
In 1996, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County covers an area of 2401 square kilometers and has a population of about 200000. It has jurisdiction over 5 towns and 3 townships: Wufeng Town, yuyangguan Town, changleping Town, Renheping Town, Wantan Town, Fujiayan Town, Caihua town and Niuzhuang town. The county government is located in Wufeng town.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County is 205897, including 40016 in Wufeng Town, 24487 in changleping Town, 45650 in yuyangguan Town, 24020 in Renheping Town, 17573 in Wantan Town, 17522 in Fujiayan Town, 8720 in Niuzhuang town and 27909 in Caihua town.
At the end of 2004, the total population of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County was 207268. It has jurisdiction over 5 towns, 3 townships, 11 communities and 104 village committees.
According to the sixth census in 2010, there are 188923 permanent residents in Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, including 37746 in Wufeng Town, 22500 in changleping Town, 46145 in yuyangguan Town, 18879 in Renheping Town, 16743 in Wantan Town, 15567 in Fujiayan Town, 7496 in Niuzhuang town and 23847 in Caihua town.
On April 14, 2011, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved the relocation of the people's Government of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County from Wufeng town to yuyangguan town with the approval of the State Council.
In 2000, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County governed five towns and three townships.

Wufeng county is a mountainous area, which is a branch of Wuling Mountain. It is the tail of the eastern extension of Yunnan Guizhou Plateau. It is a karst landform. Karst caves flow all over the county. The terrain gradually slopes from west to East. The mountains with an altitude of more than 500 meters account for 86.3% of the total area, of which the mountains with an altitude of more than 1200 meters account for 44.8%. Heifengjian, the highest point in the county, is 2320.3 meters above sea level The low point is 150 meters away from Qiaohe gorge of Yuyang River in the East. In the county, there are many gullies, overlapping peaks and hills, and there are small plains between the mountains. In the east of the county, yuyangguan (low mountain valley), changleping (semi high mountain) in the middle and Wantan (high mountain zone) in the west, there are ten thousand mu plains. The eastern part of the mountain is round, with gentle slopes and shallow valleys, and the western part is steep.
